Okay, I just checked our e-mail. I deleted 120 junk e-mails. Most of them were to my DD's e-mail address. She is 13 years old. She had a zillion e-mails on mortgage refinancing, Viagra, credit card offers, weight loss pills, etc. Is there any way to stop all this garbage from flooding our computer?

I've been getting tons of spam lately too. I hate it.

who is your server? most have some sort of spam guard to prevent spam. if it is aol just go to mail controls in the master screenname and adjust the settings.

It is awful isn't it. I have spam guard but still get lots of junk!

Me too. I've had the same e-mail address since I got online in '97 and I really don't want to change it, but if I go away for a weekend and come home, I have about 400 e-mails waiting. In a single weekday I get about 150. About 90% is spam. I may be making my backup address my primary and letting my original die out after I notify all my friends :(

I got a new email account and that is what I use to sign up for things on the internet, and my second My email I give out to family and friends. the one for family is the one i pay for because they are were I get my internet,

I'm going to try downloading mailwasher. I hope it works. Thanks guys.

I was using hotmail for awhile and have let my account expire because I couldn't take it anymore. I don't have any problems with the account set up through our internet provider.

When I had hotmail it was really bad...I use my yahoo account and it has spam filters it has been great....I find if you "surf" alot they pick up your email by the cookies you have...My DH gets them and unsubscribes and they just get worse!....

Can anyone give a review of MailWasher? I too would love to get rid of the spam, but having an older computer (233 processor, Pentium II, Windows 95) and can't afford to bog things down any more than they already are. :)

Ugh! That was happening to us also. Our internet provider offered a free "spam" inbox that sends spam mail to a seperate inbox while the legit stuff goes to our regular mail inbox. All we do is go to the spam box every once in a while and trash it all!

I thought is was just us! It has been steadily getting worse. The viagra ones just kill me!!

It is awful! And time consuming to delete!

Our ISP also has a spam filter and I think that it catches a lot more than what makes it to our in-box. But we STILL end up getting a lot in our in-box. I have tried unsubcribing (I know that this is bad), blocking senders (I must have several hundreds addresses in my Block Sendesr List), sending e-mails to abuse@ISP.com (no response).
So I am going to give this mailwasher a try. Hopefully it will pick up the worst stuff. At least it will warn me when the porn ads come through. Nothing worse than sitting here, having the e-mail downloaded, and the first thing that pops up is porn - and your DD is standing next to you!!!

Give us an update on the mailwasher when you try it please....I may recommend it to DH.....
