Jungle Cruise - worthwhile?

wow reading this thread gave me the idea to try this at night!

I love this ride. It's a fun thing for everyone, regardless of age or thrill factor.
Nothing really scary either..( though my kids were nervous about the Asian/tiger thing tunnel AND they are over sensitive)

I say everyone should try it once

I would definitely try to go if the lines aren't too awful. The kids should enjoy it...when my son was about 7, the guide let him "steer" the boat. The guide definitely makes or breaks the ride and they all seem to handle it differently.

I think anyone on a first trip should do it. For us, we'll probably never do it again. We find it to be highly boring. Though thanks to this thread, we may try it at night.

Note that it wouldn't be a good filler ride because there usually are fairly substantial waits for it. If I had to wait 45 minutes for it, I'd be disappointed.

Is there every a time with small lines? Seems every ride gets busy with waits unless you go at rope drop, use FP (which there are better rides to use these on), or go at night (but would rather watch Electrical Parade and Wishes). At the moment, if we ride it, it would be late morning, just before lunch.

Interesting to hear how the host can make or break the ride (but makes sense)

Night time sounds cool...but as my little one scares easily, I think we'll stick to day time (i.e. if any animals)...plus for reasons mentioned above.

The wait is typically 40 minutes so we use it as one of our 'gimmies' first thing in the morning. After rope drop, we walk to Jungle Cruise, walk on, and it's crossed off the list. It's definitely a classic Disney iconic ride that you really shouldn't miss.

Just curious...are there other rides on your maybe-not-worth-it list? I understand paring down time-wasters, but in my opinion, the only true time wasters at MK are Stitch and Astro orbiters. Stitch is so bad it's almost shocking. Astro orbiters was a long wait and you basically see flat roof tops. Not worth it and you have my ok to take them off your to-do list. :thumbsup2

It's a fun ride that's worth doing. In fact, it's my 11 year old daughter's favorite ride at MK. It's especially fun at night. It has a whole other feel and that's when we like it best, though we still ride it during the day too.

We rode it on the 24 hours of magic day in May, and strangely enough, we saw or noticed things at night that we never had during the day. My DD loves the ride. If you go multiple times in a week, yeah, you'll hear some of the same jokes, but if it's once a year (or longer) you'll forget the jokes, and they are funny all over again.

here's another vote for going on Jungle Cruise! My family, my brother in particular, loves this ride, even with the rather long wait times.

Your probably looking at a 40-50 minute wait late morning without FP.

We love it, its a must do for us. Every ride is different b/c of the skipper and its also different during the day and night. We prefer night.

It really does depend on the skipper you get. JC has never been one of my all time favorites, but last trip I had a guy named Skipper Alex, and he was so great taht that ride on the JC was without a doubt the highlight of the whole trip!

Wait...your 5 year old scares easily, and you're starting her on BTMRR and Splash, but won't do Jungle Cruise in the dark? With all due respect, that makes no sense to me. The Jungle Cruise is a slow moving boat ride. There is nothing scary about it. Nothing. It's boring and that's why we skip it. BTMRR is a fairly intense first ride, IMO, unless your kid is a roller coaster fanatic, and Splash can be scary for timid first-time riders because there are dark portions (with scary vultures and lightening/thunder) and a huge drop. And POTC can be scary for kids as well, as there is a lot of darkness and skeletons.

Neither Stitch nor Astro orbiters are on our ride list (since I haven't heard great things). Other skipped ones are ones that seem too much for our kids...Space Mountain, Rock N Roller Coaster , etc

Never been to Disney (and hence the posts) so learning about the rides myself.
Actually I only have Splash Mountain for my DS9 (will probably take DD5 to Aladdin Carpets instead)...and Big Thunder Mountain is for sure for DS and will let it be DD's call, but from comments here, it may be ok. I only made the comment about Jungle Cruise since I've seen some animals scare her...I just know my kid.

i love Jungle Cruise and do it several times during my trip. hopefully to get different tour guides... the guides make the ride.....you really have to pay attention...if your kids notice little things they will get it.... example ...the butterfly
they can grow anywhere from 12 inches to a whopping one foot..
i was with my 6 yr old niece who got that joke immediatly and kept repeating it over and over....funniest thing she heard... so go figure... rhino chasing people up a pole...they will get the POINT in the END :rotfl2: i love that kind of humor...
and to imagine the animatronics is from 1971...not bad .... it is a matter of taste but in my opinion ...DONT MISS IT.... I AM GOING TO TRY TO FAST PASS IT THIS TIME... :dance3:

It's not worth a 40-minute wait, but it's definitely worth doing, especially after sunset.

It's worth it to try at least once. If you have the opportunity, I suggest riding at night. It's a totally different ride and a little more exciting when you cant see what's coming around the bend.

My family has done this ride numerous times. It is a classic to us and a trip to Disney would not feel complete without the Jungle Cruise. My kids are 21 and 16 and would never consider skipping it. Like PP have said the jokes are corny and your guide can either make it really great or just corny, but my family would never skip it because it is Disney. We would more likely skip the magic carpet ride.
