Jungle Cruise Ride updated?

Headhunters were a real thing and territorial African tribes were and are still a real thing. And the depictional in JC is probably not that far off considering it likely intended to depict the early 1900's when Africa was still untamed and mysterious. Colonialism was real. Most of the indigenous fought the aggressor and others try to prosper. Trader Sam is a lampoon in that regard, wearing a top hat from one of the heads he has shrunken and making trades for trinkets. It's a goof meant to entertain people. Do you have to take the air out of everything that's fun?

Why did Africa need to be “tamed”? That’s a pretty bad choice of words.

According to Oxford un·tamed /ˌənˈtāmd/ not domesticated or otherwise controlled. "Nepal was stunning with its wild, untamed landscape." Similar: wild, savage, feral, natural, free, uncontrollable, undomesticated.

Actually it's the perfect choice of words. I didn't say Africa needed to be tamed, I said Africa was untamed which isn't in dispute. I also stated that colonialism was real. Go read a history book unless you're one of those who endorse some alternate version of history. My DVC home is Kidani and my master bedroom in my own home is fully decorated in African motif and artifacts even though I'm a 58 yr old white man. I love Africa. Don't try to make my statement something that it's not.

Extensive article in the LA Times regarding the JC change and comments/insights from Disney (specifically: Jeanette Lomboy and Susana Tubert).

I know there are way more important points, but I saw that line about women not being allowed to be sers until 1995 and I was FLOORED.

(And I bet people complained about that change, too!)

ETA:“Skippers” not “slippers.” Ha!

I didn't know this, either. 1995! That's insane...and confirmed by a Disney VP, no less.
