Jungle Cruise question

Within a couple of weeks of playing VMK (starting in November), I was able to get around 52,000 points per Jungle Cruise game. But I never have been able to "up" my score. My question is: how do you get any higher than that? I get almost all pictures flawless the 1st time through, but only "good" the 2nd and 3rd times through with a few flawless here and there. Is it something to do with speed (how fast you take the pictures)? Because I line up the "camera" the same way and only get credit for a "good" photo even when I angled the camera the same in round 1 for a "flawless" photo. I've poked around on the board now and again, but haven't really found an answer to this. :confused3 Thanks in advance!

Well... Keep your boat safe! If you last longer you can get more points. This gets me 100,000 Points

Some tips for the Jungle Cruise:

Wait as long as possible to take your picture (until your animal starts to puff little clouds, or the next animal shows on the screen). It is counter-intuitive, but it really does give you a higher score.

Don't oversteer your boat. It takes your concentration away from the animals and you might end up running into the rocks. Learn at what angle you can get through the rocks, some of them look tougher than they are. Only the nose of the boat needs to miss the rocks. Avoid running into things!!

Don't step on the gas! That is don't use the fast forward arrow. It slightly moves you forward, but it makes the time clock start ticking faster. Proceed at the leisurely river pace.

The first time through the screens, you can get through each scene without backing up your boat to capture all the animals. The next two rounds require that you back up your boat in order to get pictures of all the animals. (the second time through requires a little less backing than the third time through). If you back up too much DO NOT speed forward as this will make the time clock start ticking faster.

I'm sure there are more hints, but these are the ones I can think of. I regularly score in the 60,000's but not quite as high as DocHT who can get 65,000 (my next goal)

100,000 points?!! Really? I have never seen a score this high in jungle cruise. DocHT, GJam, and Wynsome are the best players I know and I never see them score that high. Back before they made some changes, some players were getting in the 70,000s but never have I seen it past that.

As for scoring higher, yes, wait to take your picture at the last possible moment without missing the shot, it makes a world of difference.

This makes absolutely no sense at all since pictures are what the score is based on. Yes if you make it through all 3 rounds you can get a higher score, but its not like if you dont run out of gas you can keep going and going. Furthermore, I have NEVER EVER seen anyone get 100,000 points. Dont even think its possible.

I disagree with the advice to never use the gas. It can take over 30 gas points to drift downstream through one screen. Conversely, you can speed through using 7 or 8 gas points. On the first go-round, I always speed off once I'm clear of the dock, and speed up after the last photo on each of the screens in round one. I also speed through the photo-less dock screens. Even if you hit one rock or bang the dock once, you will spend less fuel if you go through quickly.

The only time not to speed is when the gas can has not yet appeared, or, of course, when there are animals to photograph.

When running through a quest, needing 10,000, 20,000 or whatever to get to the next task, you can speed up the process by zipping past the tiki screen, which is full mostly of small-valued birds. The most points are awarded for big game animals, such as lions, rhinos, giraffes (aim low for the most points), gorillas and hippos. The toucans and parrots (or whatever those little things are) are usually worth a third or less of a big game shot. Thus, the tiki room is worth little, and the safari room is full of points.
