Jungle Cruise film official to star Tom Hanks and Tim Allen!

I think this is a great idea especially if handled a la POTC.

With Pirates, they basically took the theme of the ride and managed to make a great story out of it, with a couple scenes put in place to pay tribute to the ride.

With Jungle Cruise, I would think the same thing could be done. Let the ride theme/scenery be the starting point and then come up with a fun, adventurous story....and all you'd need to do is throw in a couple fun winks to the ride. Let it be a movie that makes you think about the Jungle Cruise, not a movie that tries to recreate the ride.

eh -- I don't care if they make minor adjustments to the ride. (I'm amazed at how many people on DIS would rather ride the exact same ride year after year after year, over seeing some sort of new change)

To me, this ride lives/dies by the quality of the Cast Member providing the tour.

The rides a classic that should not be messed with when you have a good skipper its an E.

I agree :) I'm only hoping for some minor adjustments. Not a complete overhaul. I like what they did with Captain Jack in POTC

Oh God no! They're probably going to make something cheesy and stupid, like Pirates, and then ruin the ride, like Pirates, by refurbing it to fit the film.

I'll give it a chance, but I don't have a good feeling about this.

Sounds like a good idea but here is my gripe

Tim Allen is an ok actor but does anyone know why he has ONLY worked with Disney for like 20+ years now? Is Disney the only studio who will hire him? Just a quirk, I've noticed over the years.

He might be under contract with them.

I can't WAIT to see the Tom and Tim animatronics for it!

Is it a "Curse of the Black Pearl" or "Haunted Mansion"...only time will tell.

Does it surprise anyone they got Tom Hanks? I mean, Tim Allen will do pretty much ANY piece of garbage, but Tom Hanks is pretty finicky. I can't imagine him showing up in something too bad.

I doubt you will see a refurb based on this...but also I don't get how anyone can consider adding Capt. Jack to Pirates "ruined" it...the ride barely changed.

I'm curious, this isn't acting, merely voiceover work, but doesn't Tim Allen provide the voiceovers for Chevy and Campbells? Certainly sounds like him, and it has been for a while.

I'm keen to see what sort of vibe the movie will take on with Tim and Tom. (Toy Story meets The Burbs in the jungle?) With regard to any possible "plussing" of the attraction itself, I would hope they wait until the movie is out (and makes money or doesn't) before taking the plunge. AND I would hope any changes aren't so substantial that it feels like the original storyline has been significantly altered to fit in new characters, a'la PoTC.

I'd kept an open mind with PoTC with regard to pov prior to its upgrade. Sadly, it is no longer one of my favorite rides (not even the DL version). But, different strokes for different folks. ;)

LOL, I don't care much for the refurb but I definitely don't consider it ruined. I like the Jack at the end but he doesn't fit with all the other goofier looking animatronics in the rest of the ride. What I hate is Davey Jones on the mist screen going into the ride. He has nothing to do with the movie that the ride inspired and the old Jolly Rodgers was a lot cooler.
Still one of my favorite rides...

Yeah, I get that Disco - "I don't like it as much this way"....my view, it doesn't seem much different at all...I know the "plot" of the ride has changed to a degree, with the invasion of Tortuga coming in a distant second to the hunt for Jack Sparrow, but overall it is about 95% the same as it ever was, and again from my point of view, the first time I rode it after the refurb, all I could think was "seems mostly the same to me!" That's why you can't satisfy all the people all the time...the same ride leads to some saying "I love it", some saying "I hate it" and some saying "who cares"!

Back on topic, again I wouldn't expect us to have to worry about it changing the ride until after the movie is out and successful, which is a long way from a sure thing. I still can hardly believe they made a good Pirate movie! I remember when PotC came out saying to people "Well, it can't be any good, when is the last good Pirate movie?" Best anyone could come up with was Captain Blood, which is currently 75 years old! At least the most recent movie about a Jungle Cruise is is only 60 years old!

(Actually a friend who is into Pirate movies claims that "The Crimson Pirate" was the last good pirate movie, which was 1952 - but it invalidates my joke above...so I ignored it.)

And this is the reason WDW is in the sad state that it is in today.

Amen, I suppose when I said animatronics I should've said mannequins since that's all they've been turning out to be lately with all the breakdowns and such...that poor yeti.

Don't get me started on DAK or as I call it the 2 hour park!
