Jungle Josh's Trip Report
Part 3:
Jungle Adventures: A Rude Awakening, Day 1
The Players:
Jungle Josh (22/m) - Former WDW Cast Member, Disney Fanatic.
Cousin A (22/m) - My best friend, a little nervous, quiet type.
Little Cousin B (10/f) - First trip away from her parents, never spent more than 2 days at WDW.
Our Aunt (55/f) - Buisnesswoman, loves to spend time at WDW relaxing as opposed to running the parks 24/7, has a walking handicap.
Little Cousin C (6/m) - will arrive with his parents later in the trip...Cousin B's brother.
Cousin D (34/m) - B and C's Dad, will join us later in the trip
Cousin D's DW (32/f) - Will join us later in the trip.

The shrill sound of my aunts voice wake my from my dead sleep.
"JOSH!!!!!!"
Where am I? ---::look around:: okay, Im at POFQ---what is going on?
"Josh! I need you to run to the van"
What? What's going on...why is my heart racing a mile a minute...?
I hope out of bed and into the connecting room, My aunt is standing next to the bathroom door....where's little cousin (10/f)? Then I hear it....
The sound of vomit hitting the toilet water...oh no...this trip is doomed!!!!!!!!!
It seems that HUGE Icee may have been a bad idea...and her stomach pains the night before....well they should have been a warning. Unfortunately I have left the medicine bag in the car.
So here's a site, it's 6:30 am, I can hardly see straight, my hair shooting in every possible direction, still wearing my pajamas (white tshirt with blue sweat pants) and sandles...jogging out to the van. fellow guests passing by stop and stare...but Im on a mission..now where did I park? Blast! hmm..wheres the button on this key that honks the horn oh the car...here it is...::honk::
there it is! I retrieve the bag, a jog back to the room. little cousin (10) is sitting on the bed looking as patheitc as a little girl can...I just wanted to scoop her up and make it all better...Her first trip away from her parents and she wakes up sick. She wants to call home, so my aunt gets her phone and lets her call, I escape to the other room to give her some privacy.
I just knew this was going to send the trip into a downward spiral..i know when I was 10, if this had happened to me, I would have wanted my parents. About 20 minutes later, I am called back into the other room (now I am wide awake)....my aunt has brought me in to convince little cousin that pepto bismol is not the single worst this on the face of the planet...I cross my hands behind my back and tell her to go ahead and try it..its not so bad.
5 mintuies later shes thrown in up too...I feel like such a horrible person by now. The three adults all discuss the situation and realize AK this mornign isn't going to happen....at least not for while...its okay, no big deal here..I just want her to feel better.
Time to hit the showers, get cleaned up and wait for the signal that everything is a okay. I run to the front desk and purchase Etickets for that night....around noon, my little cousin comes trotting into the room, she looks 200% better....She has decided that she feels good enough to hit the park. Our jobs..keep her busy so that her sick feeling doesnt cause her to go homesick....i htink we're up for the task.
After the adults grab a quick bite at the POFQ snack back (obviosuly the kiddo doesn't want to even see food at this point) its off to the AK!
Now, my aunt has a handicap...she can't walk long distances, she has bad legs, complicated by diabetes...She normally rents those ECV buggies...personally I call them rolling vehicles of death and destruction! but its the easiest way for her. We arrive at AK only to find out they have sold out of ECVs at the time....I tell dear aunt to just get a wheelchair and I will gladly push her...but she refuses...thinks this will cause me to have a bad time at the park. I beg and plead..but to no avail....she decides to sit at the bar at Rainforest and watch TV for a couple of hours. We agree to meet up a 5pm to head to the MK.
My 2 cousins (10 and 22) and I trek off into the park. First stop...Tough to be a bug....then Dinoland...we're standing in line for Dinosaur....after 30 minutes in line...the ride breaks down....no big deal...we're at WDW!!!!!! into Dinorama...we play carnival games for an hour. I am the king of Wack a Dino...I won her 2 med dinosaurs before the guy running the game cut me off for the day.....Cousin (22) played the hammer game (where you try to ring the bell...strong man game) He rang the bell...little cousin now has growning stuffed toy collection. Her parents are going to LOVE us!
Now its off to Africa, we kill some time checking out the animal exhibits while waiting on a fastpass on the safari....then ride it. Back to Dinoland..maybe Dinosaur is up and running...it is...30 minute wait...GREAT ride...love it! At 5pm we end up at the front of the park...Little cousin now realizes her choice of shoes was rubbing blisters....so we buy her a new pair of flippflops at the Rainforest and head to MK.
We have PS at 7pm for The Liberty Tree Tavern. Thanks goodness they have ECVs....We explore main street...I saw a couple of my old Main Street buddies at the Emporium. Good times....off to adventureland...rode POTC...such a classic...now off to dinner....What a GREAT restaurant...really good food..Little cousin loved all the characrters doting over her. I think shes forgotten about the tummy ache.
We eat and eat...the best salad dressing ive ever had...a strawberry vinegrett...I think I drank my weight in Sprite..I was parched for some reason. I'll do a review of the restaurant next week on the restaurant board.
Now off to the park...we ride HM, see the tiki room....the Jungle Cruise...then little cousin wants to ride BTMRR...off we go...30 minute line....we get to the front, standing in the loading spots and cousin (22.m) starts gagging....
"are you alright man?"
"I think I need to pass on this right now man...."
The gates open, he crosses the line and runs up the exit....we ride and exit...find out cousin (22) is now throwing up in the bathroom at Splash...maybe it wasn't that Icee.
It's time for wishes, we watch...Its such an amazing show....sends chills down your spine...Im watching it and thinking..man I wish I had a special someone here in my arms watching the show with me...its so romantic...Everyone loves the show..aunt has tears in her eyes...little cousin is ready to Enight at this point..shes no completly forgotten that she felt the least bit sick that morning.
Cousin tells me to take little cousin and ride everything she wants, he will stay near a bathroom...aunt (who doesnt ride wild rides) will stay with him. So we ride everything we can...Splash( 3times), BTMRR (1 more time on enight..then it broke down), off to fantasy land..cousin(22) is not only nauseous, so we go see Philharmagic...I LOVE this show....I saw it in January, but this is everyone elses first time...they all agree..its a hit.
We see Pooh, then Buzz, and Space Mountain. ...we decide its time to go back to the room. Everyones pretty tired. So back to the hotel. Cousin (22) drinks his weight in Pebto Bismol and everyone settles into bed for a good nights sleep. Tomorrow we move into our new home..the Poly Concierge. Then MGM. Should be fun....
Will everyone love the Poly? Will Cousin (22) ever feel better? Will homesickness strike the little cousin? Are these two illnesses a sign of things to come?
