So, DH and I are starting to put together our list of shore excursions for our family for our August Alaska cruise, and we were thinking about doing the Juneau Sled Dog Discovery and Musher's Camp tour. Has Anyone on here done this tour? I would love to know about your experience and whether it might be a good fit for a family with a 7 year old, a 4.5 year old and a 2 year old. Plus, DH has a prosthetic leg, but is pretty adept on it. Thoughts?

We did this excursion a few years ago, and it was my kids' favorite in all of Alaska (they were 6 and 8 at the time). Your kids will enjoy the sled ride, and especially holding and cuddling little puppies. The excursion isn't very physical, so your DH should be fine. Definitely book it!

We did this excursion last summer in Skagway and we loved it. Our (then) 12-year old son enjoyed every part of it...the sleds, the mushers, and, of course, the PUPPIES! Our son is pretty low-key so one of the mushers handed him his pick-of-the-litter pup and he sat and held him for close to a half hour. The pup slept in his arms (see my profile pic) and momma took a nap; everyone was happy. For us, there was a 1/4 mile walk to the camp from the buses and back but nothing too strenuous.
