June vs October crowds/heat?

As the title suggests, I was sure to book something early to mid June the. Kept reading of afternoon showers and hot and muggy.
Then decided on the original dates in October, but soon learned that Star Wars attraction will draw big crowds. The hotel prices are also showing to be more than June.

We will be going with our 2 and 5 years old. We are going to take it easy and not try to go and do everything.

He likes Dino’s so will go to MK, AK and HS. Also thinking of going to universal studios for one day since he likes Spider-Man, transformers etc a lot more. This is going to be a 5 nights trip.

Someone suggested to the park at 9am at rope drop. Stay till lunch and head back to the hotel. Then go back in the evening so that we all specially kids get a break. And we are out of the afternoon heat.

Wanted to get suggestions from folks who have been in June and October.

June is cheaper. October can potentially be hot.

We've done both, June more than October. Did October once and June probably 8 times now. Both can be hot, though June is likely to be more consistently hot. T-storms can be very hit or miss. Our June trips are typically long, anywhere from 10-18 days. We've had trips where it stormed every day for 8 days straight. We've also had trips where we went 10-12 days without a single storm...they happened, but in the overnight hours not during the daytime.

Crowds will be similar, though probably sightly less in June.

A lot of people are fans of the "mid-day break". We're not. To us, that's just time wasted commuting back and forth....figure 1.5 to 2 hours total. Definitely not fans of pushing all day, every day. You will wear out, and fast. What we do is go and stay until we're done. So if we go in the morning, we'll do 10am to 5pm and be done for the day. If we want a night trip, we don't go until 3pm and will stay until 10 or 11pm. On rare occasion we do go back at night after a morning trip, but it's never planned, it's done spur of the moment if we're feeling up for it. At WDW it's easy to avoid the mid-day heat. So many of the attractions, and their queues, are in air conditioning. You can set your day up so that they only time you're in the heat is when you're walking from one attraction to the next. You can spend the pretty much the entire afternoon in a/c.

Don't get me wrong, October is wonderful too and I'd highly recommend it. But June is nothing to be worried about with the heat or crowds.

Another thing to keep in mind is that both June and October are hurricane season, however in my opinion, you are more likely to have a hurricane in October...but honestly the chances are slim both months. We have gone in both June and October and June is HOT...but October could be hot too. Honestly, I'd do whatever works best for your family.

Early June weather will be different than late June. (Humidity keeps creeping up)

Early October weather will be different than late October. (Humidity keeps creeping down).

I would probably give June the advantage for crowds right now.

October = party season, still hot, crazy crowds. Those are the reasons why we will never go in October. I usually don't care about crowds, but all of the pictures and videos I have seen of that month makes me stay away. I can handle Thanksgiving crowds because the weather is great.

We went in October and it was very hot that year. Having lived in Arizona for years I wasn’t shocked by that, but it was by no means a cooler fall feel.

This year? I would pick June in a heartbeat if I didn’t have interest in Star Wars.

Kind of thinking June 14th for 5 nights. Reason to consider June is lower rates, and hopefully before the schools are out to avoid crows, but looks like that's not true.
October, one of my son's birthday and he also likes Halloween, so week of October 1st for 5 nights. Less humid hopefully, even more crowds because of Star wars? higher hotel prices. Will we able to see Halloween parades of do we have to buy special tickets?

We are planning to do mornings and come back to hotel just because I am sure little ones and us will get tired, and since we will be staying on Disney property, it might be easier to go back again in the evening.

We are really flexible on the times when we visit. I want us to be able to have fun and not the weather or crowds be a factor for us not able to enjoy.
If November is a better weather wise and crowds, we will certainly consider it, any particular week we should be looking for?

@thor369 I don't think there's such a thing as a perfect time or better time. I've been in early October and I didn't think it was that hot...and it honestly didn't even feel that humid, but we could have just gotten lucky. I don't think there will be a ton of difference crowd wise between mid June and early october...at least not to a person who has never been.

personally I like January, but the tradeoff is rides are closed for refurbishment and while fewer people might be in the parks, the lines might feel worse due to lower staffing levels.

A lot of schools are out now or about to be, so please don’t be surprised by that by mid June.

June crowds have been "light" for years. We've been every June since 2015 and had some remarkably empty days.

October weather can really vary. We went this past October in mid October. We picked October over summertime because we did not want it to be unbearably hot. Well they were having a heatwave and temperatures were in the high 90's with feels like temperatures over 100. So we ended up with summer temperatures anyway. We still had a great time. I think it was busy some but we had nothing to compare it to...we still got alot done. The Halloween party was fun too.

We almost always go in early May.(low crowds also).its hot but no humidity. I have also gone in July and October. Sure its hot and humid...but nothing like Iraq hot..lol
Water fountains are everywhere. I have never really been bothered by the heat. Rather be hot than cold. I think the heat worries are overrated. I mean, its not that bad.
Disneyland however is perfect. No humidity and even if its 100 you don't sweat..just perfect California weather.
When we plan WDW..its always to go with low crowds...so early May wins. I dont care about heat..but huge crowds..is just not fun.
