June or October

I have been to WDW in June and in October many times. This last June trip was our final summer trip! The heat made it miserable!!! (ETA: The humidity in June is quite different from October.) I had just been in April, and the weather was perfect. Maybe that's what made June's weather that much worse to me. My birthday is in June, and I like celebrating it at WDW since we were both born in 1971. But after this trip, I told my DH that my new birthday is October 1, the same as Disney's! I will celebrate it then.

OP, I was in the same situation as you in that I was taking 3 college kids and summer seemed to be the only time we could all go. I plan on taking them back in three years, and I've already decided that we will go right before Christmas. I think we will all be off then. I've been the week before Christmas a couple of times and loved it. This may be something to think about.

That could be a possibility - we've been the week right after Thanksgiving - the parks were empty. This was years ago, but I remember being on BTMRR and coming into the station and the CM asking if we wanted to go again - there were literally three people in line - they got on and we went again. It was EMPTY - and all the Christmas decorations were up. That was by far my favorite trip. Trying to accommodate everyone's schedule is proving to be very challenging at this stage in life. Thanks again for all the thoughts on this.

You are welcome. I totally agree with it being a challenge, but I'm determined to at least try to vacation together. I know there will be years that it won't be possible, but it's not going to stop me from trying.

I'm sure the week after Thanksgiving made a great trip. (It sounds like our night at MNSSHP.) I can't wait to go in November/early December My DH and I will definitely be taking a solo trip during that time once we are both retired in four more years. For right now, we love October. We both teach and have fall breaks which make it possible. But with our kids in different colleges who don't have fall breaks at the same time, we have to look at other times. I can tell you summer is out unless it's the ONLY possibility, and I'm still not sure I'd go.

What we've done right before Christmas is leave home on the 18th (we drive) and return home on the 23rd. We have lots of family close by, so staying through Christmas is not an option for us. The weather has been great, and the crowds haven't started picking up yet. It will be busier than your week after Thanksgiving though. But I have found the pre-Christmas crowds to be about the same as summer crowds. But you have much better weather! Looking at 2017, there is a full week (17th-23rd) the week before Christmas. Maybe your kids will be off that whole week. I say that would be a perfect time to go.

I know your OP stated June or October, but since I'm in a similar situation, I wanted to give you another possibility, at least one that I have thought about doing.

Good luck deciding what to do!

I wish they were off the entire week...unfortunately, they don't get out until the 19th...and have exams leading up to that break. As it stands, it looks like we are going that first week in June - I know it will be hot and busy but hey, it's a week at Disney!!

Too bad they don't get the whole week. I hope you have a great time in June though. Maybe an unexpected cold front will come through!
