I've booked RPR for the middle of June for five nights, THEN I saw the parks closed at 8:00pm :sad2: . Now I'm wondering if I should just change my reservations to the middle of July (with the 10pm closing!!!). Will the temperatures be that much hotter---will the crowds be that much larger??? Basically, what I'm asking is when is the best time to go?

I would go with June. The crowds are not awful,it will be crowded.

The weather isnt too bad just yet-afternoon t-storms-heat index in 110 range..

Now I'm talking early June!!

donaldduck, thanks so much! :) I'll just stick to June then. I'm still bummed about the 8pm closing though, what the heck will I do after the park closes---keep in mind we'll have three kids with us, ages 15, 13 and 10??? I guess go back to the hotel and go to sleep at 9:00??? Oh well, I guess that means we can get up early to be at the parks at opening.

We went last year the first week in July and it was not that bad. Staying onsite makes it nice with FOTL. The parks being open later was nice since we slept in (8-9 am) had breakfast, then went to the parks until about 12-1 pm. We then went back to the hotel (RPR) for swimming or felaxing in the room until 4-5 pm. Then we got showered up and hit dinner in citywalk. After dinner around 6-7 we hit the parks again since it was not as hot then.

We are going again this year and will be doing the same thing.:thumbsup2

BTW: I live in South Florida so the heat is not to bad for us, already used to it.

IWe have been there several times during July 4th. It didn't seem any hotter than in June. We love the fact that the parks are open late. We go early and then usually go back to the hotel and enjoy the pool. We then go back to the parks, have dinner, etc. With you express access by staying on site the crowds are very managable . If you get too hot, go one the wet rides!!

What to do when the parks close "early"
Get tix to see Blue Man Group
See a movie at the Cineplex (it's a very nice theater)
Have an evening swim at the onsite pools (open until 10; you can poolhop)
See the dive-in movie at the HRH pool (when available)
If you have a car, take a trip down I-Drive. There's a lot of stuff there.

With all the money I'm shelling out for the stay on site, the tickets and food, I just can't afford to go see Blue Man group (although it does look fun). The movie idea was a good one---here's hoping a movie is out that we will all agree on, with one 15 yr old boy and two girls ages 13 and 10, it's not always so easy! :crazy2:

I wonder how crowded the pools with be with the early closing of the park? I'm not into swimming, but the kids will like it and I could always take a book or magazine.

Thanks guys, first I'm going to see if we can change our dates, if not, we will make the best of it anyway, I'm sure we will still have a good time! :thumbsup2

There is a "dinner and a movie" deal for $21.95 at CityWalk. You might want to think about that too.

the great thing about the meal and movie deal is that it doesn't have to be done on the same night. there are two separate tickets, so if you feel like having dinner one night, and the movie another night, you can.

i would stick with your dates in june. i believe that it is less crowded during this month and with the express, it's easier. the fotl access is wonderful. i stayed at the hard rock in early september and loved it.

i'm a tm and dont get to experience express very often. my two best friends stayed with me and got to experience the unlimited express. one is a passholder, and the other has only been to universal a couple of times. the first was when i first started working there during hhn in 2007. we didn't buy express and hated the waits. we just refuse to wait for longer than 25 minutes. i refuse to pay for it. i'd rather go through single riders than wait in a long queue. don't have the patience for it. it was nice to treat them to that perk.

here's a tip though: start your day at islands. summer in florida=rain. almost all of islands attractions are outdoors which means if it is thundering and lightening, they close down. if it's a light rain, they stay open. the rain is usually in the afternoon starting around 2 or 3. so you can either go back to the hotel when it rains or head over to universal. jaws, some of the shows, and kidzone are really the only areas you need to worry about with the rain. everything else is indoors. blues brothers can't play if there's even the slightest rain, but beetlejuice, fear factor, and animal actors can. they're all covered enough.

karatepamy, thanks so much for the tips, loved them! :thumbsup2 I printed them off! Okay, so how do I found out about this dinner and a movie deal?
