June or August

Our last several trips to Disney have been the last week in August. While the weather is always pretty brutal, we always enjoy the very low crowd level and take the trade off. Taking our kids out of school isn't an option with the pressures of AP classes for my high schooler. For 2021 we are looking at maybe going right after school is out in early June (probably June 5-12.) The weather will be hot no matter what, so mostly wondering how much more crowded it will be in June verses the last week of August? We are thinking of renting DVC points this time, so avoiding hurricane season is appealing!

I would plan for early June over August. I think the heat and humidity might be a bit less in early June than in August and you will avoid hurricane season!

June isn't all that crowded in comparison to the rest of the year at WDW.

We’ve done both June and August several times. I’d go with June. The heat is easier to take (it doesn’t feel as hot) and the crowds are not bad at all.

That's as good a week to go as you'll get for the rest of the summer. School is still in session that week for a significant portion of the US that week; for example the mandatory State final exams in NYS are June 17-25th. It will definitely be more crowded than the last week of August, but less crowded than any week in between.

It will be a slight weather improvement vs August, particularly humidity.

Personally I'd probably choose last week of August, but I think it's a close call. We were scared ****less waiting to see if a Hurricane would screw up our September trip this year (and cost us our $3K DVC rental)

We went June1-June 8 and crowds were not bad at all. It was hot, but we took breaks and it worked out fine.

We are going again June 2021

I’ve done second week of June and second week of August, and I’d definitely pick June!! Would only do August again if DD wants to be there on her actual birthday again. Just so insanely hot.

Just to hop in on this thread, How bad are the crowds June 20-27th? I've been doing the last week of August and can't stand the heat and the afternoon downpours.

I don’t really think you can predict the heat waves. We’ve been July 4th and mid August and our August trip was definitely the cooler of the two. I just don’t think you can predict.

We are planning August again this year.

Last August was beastly hot. I know that August is like that, but it seemed extreme based on our experiences on other trips, many of them in August. It’s been very hot and humid on several June trips too, so I don’t think you can really generalize. June seems rainier to me. Late August is generally less crowded based on schools re-opening, but folks without kids or who have younger tots visit then, so it’s by no means a ghost town, although much easier to tour IMHO.
