I have to change our October ressie to either eary June or late August because of a college conflict for our DS. Not real happy about going during heat and crowds, but I was just curious if any DVCers have suggestions for these times, or advice on if it will be possible to get ressies at this late date!

We went this past year at the very end of August. It was hot, but we had been having such a hot summer at home, it was not much different or unbearable. Most schools are already back by this time, so the crowds were not that bad. The only thing was that the parks were not open very late (especially the Magic Kingdom). Our kids are not that old yet, so this did not make too much of a difference to us.

Hope this helps.

Late August is a very quiet time for reservations at WDW. I would think you'd have no problem for that time frame. Many schools are already back in session and the resorts are pretty available.

Enjoy!

We went in June this year and will be going in June again in 2003. The first week is hot but not unbearable. Crowds weren't too bad either because most kids are still in school. Hope this helps. Annmarie

I would vote for late August since most schools will be back in session then. As far as getting a ressie goes, I made ressies last year the day after Christmas for the week of July 4th with no problem so August should be just as problem free!

THanks. We were leaning toward August too. I assume early June or late August would be about the same temp and crowd wise.

Late August is actually lighter in crowd size than early June (neither reaches the peak summer time crowd size that exists between mid-June and mid-Aug). Weather is similar although risk of getting sustained several hour rains (rather than the usual two or three fairly short thunderstorms a day) is somewhat higher in June. Some feel August is hotter than June. However, a 95/79 day/night degree average in Aug never really felt different to me from the 94/78 degree average in June. As to being able to get ressies you won't know until you call but generally summer is easier to get than many other times of year

We always used to go to WDW in August until I was forced to try late June a couple years ago, and now that's when we always go. I don't notice any crowds at all, but I'm not a good judge, being a teacher. We always go on school vacations, so I don't know what no crowds are:D I feel that the humidity is a lot lower in June, though, even with the rains. It seems that in August even the pools are hot, and I don't even go near the hot tubs!

We stayed at OKW late August 2001. We were able to get ressies on fairly short notice. The parks were not crowded at all, and the temperature was fine in the mornings and evenings. Mid-day was scorching, so we hung out at the pool during those hours.

Whichever way you go... enjoy!!

Thanks. I decided to let airline availablility govern my ressie, and we will be going the last week of August.
