I am in! Tough month with a long distance driving trip for a wedding and prepping for another road trip in early July. Going for 12 No Buy Days.

June 1 - Trader Joes, Walmart
June 2 - No Buy #1
June 3 - Sick supplies for kid
June 4 - No Buy #2
June 5 - No Buy #3
June 6 - $50 at the Disney store.
June 7 - Gas, bean bag toss game
June 8 - copay for emergency doc visit. Counting NO BUY #4
June 9 - Groceries and child medicine
June 10 - Shoes for wedding
June 11 -

NY Pirate Princess, I hope your little one is ok. (I didn't count our ER copay for our son last month against a no buy either. )

It seems like I'm going to do weekly updates here. A couple of busy weeks going on:
June 1: race fees for DS, groceries
June 2: ice cream
June 3: no buy #1
June 4: no buy #2
June 5: dinner, Target, new tires
June 6: dinner
June 7: groceries
June 8: concession stand snacks at baseball (decided to spend money there this season to support the league)
June 9: new day planner
June 10: no buy #3
June 11: dinner out when the crockpot failed to cook the meat
June 12: clothes for DS (this growing like a weed thing… notice almost all of my spending is food?)

and I can call the weekend now, I'm sure:
June 13: warehouse club, gas
June 14: groceries, teacher gifts

3/12 -- this is not going well, although I was on track for another no buy on the 11th…

Just updated my post on page one.... I am at 8/18 no buy days.... it seems like it will probably be a struggle to hit the full 18. Guess I was a little overly ambitious this month. My birthday is this week, we celebrated FD with my dad already, but will celebrate that with DH this weekend.... plus we are heading to one of the Connecticut casinos to see DWTS live on stage as a birthday gift on Saturday.... so I'm sure that day will involve spending some $$ on food and/or drinks (tickets were bought a while ago).

Plus DD is home half-weeks for the rest of the summer and it seems she needs something every week.... new jeans, new belt, new sneakers. I don't begrudge her the money spent.... she truly NEEDS this stuff.... but it just seems like there is something new every week. Plus she MUST get her dive gear for her semester abroad this fall bought SOON! Also coming up is HER birthday plus DH's birthday.... and of course, in NH, along with birthdays comes car registrations and inspections. My car is due this month and I KNOW the tires will not pass inspection. DD and DH's cars are due next month. I think they will both pass, but DH needs new tires and DD's car feels like it could use some brake work. Bye-bye extra work money!!! .......................P

Don't knock yourself it may be an ambitious goal, but it is an admirable one! Even though this month may not turn out perfectly in regards to all of the upcoming expenditures coming up for your family you're aware of where the money is being saved, how some of it will be spent, and you're mindful of its transient nature. These are all good things, and I hope you're not too hard on yourself!

p.s. This is my 1st month doing this so I'm just trying to spend less and be mindful of where the money is going. This thread has already helped for both of those goals.

Since we're at the halfway mark here are our results so far. I've been sick for much of this month and my husband has done the shopping in little bits. We both realized that has to change, as we're spending too much this way. So we agreed to shopping once per week, and possibly one hop to the market if we need extra veggies or fish.
June 1: Groceries
June 2: no purchases
June 3: Rent
June 4: no purchases
June 5: husband went out and bought drinks
June 6: traveling
June 7: traveling & Gramma's memorial
June 8: traveling + stopped at grocery store on the trip home
June 9: paid internet/cable bill and cancelled cable service
June 10: no purchases
June 11: no purchases
June 12: bought veggies
June 13: husband did a little grocery shopping
June 14: no purchases
June 15: water bill and *sigh* shopping he had a list, but added to it. aw well, baby steps
June 16: no purchases
June 17: phone bill
June 18: no purchases
June 19: tiny bit of food shopping
June 20: no purchases
June 21: no purchases
June 22: drinks
June 23: 200$ deposit toward DISNEY Package!
June 24: $1.99 Wastelands digital book on Amazon

Thanks for the encouragement! I am just frustrated about all of the expenses coming up. This is my third or fourth time with the no-buy thread and it certainly helps! Everytime I am tempted to stop for a coffee or make a small purchase, I remember it means that it won't be a "no buy" day and I stop myself!.......P

This was my first month joining and I have to say I'm hooked. It really made me think about my spending. I do know that after seeing it all laid out that we eat out WAY too much. That will be a new goal for next month, no more eating out.
