Since I'm under for these 3 days because of last week, I find it kind of comforting that I'm not allowing myself to spend any money. Another $0 day for me!

I don't know how y'all can do this... I tried on Wednesday, and might have made it, but I left my cup (of soda) in a waiting room, so when I realized that, then I had to go buy a new drink, just for the cup... (I'd brought my lunch and brought in a 2-liter, but needed a cup...) So once the day was shot, I went ahead to the grocery store for some things I wanted/needed.

On the one hand, that trip got me the supplies I needed to make more muffins for breakfast (we HAVE been doing great bringing breakfast from home, instead of morning stops at McD's...), on the other hand, it seems that there's always SOMETHING I need to buy for the family. If it's not gas and milk, it's something for the kids, etc. But I make a good salary and always feel like there's not enough, when the truth is that I allow it to be leached away.

Anyway, I'm on board... my goal will be ONE no-buy day at some point during this month, just to see if it's even possible, and we'll go from there. It won't be today, because I forgot my lunch...

Meanwhile, I'm working hard to cut down on the eating out for convenience... my children thing I'm the meanest person on the planet right now.

As for the clever title y'all always have, how about something like "June know you don't need to buy that" ?

I have to say tracking all spending like many of the others do just didn't work for me either. I have good control at this point on what I spend where, I just tend to make a bunch of small shopping trips as I need personal items instead of less-often big trips, so it was always really hard for me to get $0 days.

So my personal suggestion is you pick one area to focus on at a time. Sounds like you are tackling the fast food/eating out thing right now. Stick with just that for awhile, until it becomes second nature (they say it takes over 30 days to establish a new habit). Then pick another area to focus on.

But also realize different things work for different people - it's taken all of us some trial and effort to get our acts together!

I was curious about the May thread but never peeked. I may not understand how it all works but I get the basic idea! I'm starting today because I don't remember the last 7 :) I really don't have wiggle room this month so I need to cut out mostly all incidentals.

6/8/12. $4 on McD Bfast because we all kind of overslept and DS was drooling over a biscuit photo yesterday and I wanted to treat him! $10 chipping in on office pizza party for us peons while the boss is out. So I'm $14 over :(

6/9/12. I can already predict: probably $40 over. We are going to a Braves game and will have to pay for parking. We are also taking DS and his BFF to lunch to celebrate their first tee ball game before baseball. This was planned but better be my most extravagant day this month!

Welcome to the thread Lemurone and Zhoen! Like MomtoOne said, you find your own way of doing this. I wasn't sure what to do when I first peeked in too, but I've got a really good idea of it right now. And it's been helping me a lot. Not only can I track my spending better, I can also set a budget and then have savings to put into my Disney fund! Plus, having everyone's support here is the best. :grouphug:

I'm not sure how I did it, but yesterday was a $0 too! I did some volunteering today and grabbed an Icespresso on the way home. Beautiful day to be outside in Toronto!

Hi all, I'm, joining for the first time too, so I'm not sure exactly how this is going to work lol. I'm hoping that keeping track of my spending will help me spend less and add more to our vacation jar.

Disclaimer, since our new Disney Store opened yesterday of course I had to go and spent a little $ on tshirts for our trip, so it doesn't look like it's starting out very well.

I am going to include all expenses for tracking/budget purposes, but my goal is to not spend more than $40 a week on non-essentials..wish me luck and thanks for starting this thread :thumbsup2

I get paid every 2 weeks so there will be an increased amount of spending on the days following payday (groceries, essentials, etc). But I have NO Credit card debt at all, so this truly is my entire budget. GOAL-save $300 per paycheck for Disney trip savings account PLUS $20 week "mad money" for our vacation cash stash.

Spending before committing to this thread
payday 6/1/12- $15 manicure (this is essential spending :lovestruc)
6/2/12-$179 groceries, make up, cat stuff $60 Gas
6/3/12-$0
6/4/12-$0-
6/5/12-$0
6/6/12-$0
6/7/12-$30 thrift store clothes, shorts, etc. for boys for summer
6/8/12-$0
6/9/12-$55 thrift store which saved me over $100 on items I was going to buy @ Wal-Mart that day :) (I also buy used VHS tapes..yes VHS..lol..so that me and my boys can have movie nights at home. They love it, and it EASILY saves me $50-$100 by not going to the movies. Last movie I saw and paid for all of us was Pirates 4...a Disney girl's gotta live :lmao:) Plus I found 4 framed Disney prints that I've never seen that I had to have $16 for all four..necessity IMO..lol
$30 Disney store $40 manicure/pedicure, $6 lunch @ mall

Total "unnecessary" spending prior to joining thread = approx $120 :scared1:

Have been lurking around and think it's a great idea.

I'm going to do a special challenge. Starting tomorrow, I'm traveling for work for the rest of the month. I get straight expenses for hotel, car, and gas. But for food and incidentals, I get a per diem. I'm going to try to minimize my expenses, and everything left over from my per diem will go to the Disney Fund! I'm shooting for saving $400 to add to the Disney fund!

Per Diem Amount / Amount Spent / Into Disney Fund
6/10: $38.25 / $10.00 - Beer and Dinner at Festival / $28.25

I realize I'm very late for this month, but I have been wanting to start this for the last few months so here I am!

We are hoping to go to Disney in December so I want to start watching our spending and start saving. Because this is my first month my only goal is to keep track of what I spend and learn what I need to budget for the essentials and of course spend as little as possible. :thumbsup2
