Wow, Iowa at the 40's and frost. Isn't today still august???? At least we stayed at the high 50's. This weather is crazy.

Minnie Glad you stayed dry too. Those reports with flooding where terrible.

Yes, it's still August and it was cold this morningit feels like we've been at this for months already. DL11 and DS18 {can't believe he's 18} have classes that are tough and loads of work!!

I have a plan mky!! and Tomar!! when I no longer have to save my personal days for track in the spring...I want to hit a Halloween party one weekend...I'll fly down and back. I HAVE to get to one!! retirement is too far off! Fall of 2011 is when I could do it! I am dreaming, but dreams can come true!!

I typed out all my meds and my known allergies and things that give me a headache. I printed your emails too mky! I will read them again and highlight them. I am feeling better today, but still not what I was...feel like someone is choking me sometimes and the air is caught. Lungs feel better though...a bit rough tonight with talking again all day long.

My mom comes mid September. Can't wait to see her

EE22, You are such a teacher. What color highlighter? Do your homework tonight. I would love a reunion halloween trip. We can all go. The pictures of the new orange decorations look great. We are getting so excited. Has it been warmer in Michigan? Mom might not want to come since it is soooooooooooo cold in iowa.

I think Michigan is having strange weather as well. They live in the middle of the state so it tends to be cooler there too. A few weeks ago, they had to turn on the heat because it was so rainy and cold. Ick!

It seems I have been away from the board for so long. Life has been busy the past few weeks.

I have had a dozen contractors out to the house for quotes to see what we want to do, what order we should do it in and who should do the work...

We are going to replace the sewer and water lines to the house (all the way under the road) and the dry basement treatment first. That alone will be enough to give me heart failure. I can't believe how much the sewer line is worth. Mind you it is priceless to be able to flush and have it exit the property in a friendly way.

We have been very cool here as well. I could see my breath outside this morning. It was too chilly for me to want to take the bike the last couple of days.

DD13 is now officially DD14. We had her party on Saturday. I had to work for part of the day for month end and was not nearly ready, but it worked out fine. We had 16 for dinner and had to crowd into the house because it was too cold to stay outside.

We registered DD14 for high school today and the talk the gave the parents was a bit scary. But I think she will do okay. She is super smart (idiots breed genius they say) and she has a goal so I hope she stays on track. She registered for an extra credit early morning music class. She will be starting school at 7:30 two days a week but at least I will be able to drop her off those two days on my way to work.

I will have to get caught up on the posts, but I did see that we can make dinner reservations in October! I hope TGM has his least crowded parks schedule out early!

MKY - are you still a member of TGM or have you outgrown it now?

Hi Everyone!!! So we made it home. Glad you got the pictures, we had limited access to e-mail. Forgot it was in DH's name. I guess that made things confusing. Yes, the girls are getting old, 10, 8, and 5. I have a hard time believing it myself.

MK is all set for Halloween. I guess the parties start this week.

Parks were pretty managable. We would walk away from lines with a 20 minute wait. We got spoiled and did nothing with more than a 10 minute wait. Funny thing is, still seemed to be tons of people around. I don't seem to get that.

Dining plan has changed and seems to be changing every "Sunday"! Seemed like everyday there were new rules with what was being offered and what you could get. At first I thought it depended on who rang in the order but no, the rules were changing. Totally nuts and added to the confusion. Pretzels are no longer considered snacks at Goofys Candy Company, only the marshmallows. Imagine my surprise when the bill was $20 for an apple and a pretzel. Luckily DD8 got the marshmallows otherwise it would have been even more!

Magical Express seems to have cut back on their schedule shipping people to the resorts from the airport, lines were huge and we had to wait for 3 buses before we got on. I would blame it on value resorts but every level of resort was waiting.

ASMu was great. The activities by the pool were a ton of fun. But all the girls want to know why we can't stay at the GF! They loved it there. The GF Tea was a huge success. I think it was the highlight of our trip for DD5. She could not stop talking about drinking her chocolate milk out of a real tea pot. We were so lucky because there was a wedding starting as we were getting ready for lunch and Cinderellas coach with the horsemen drove past the windows of the restaurant while we were ordering. It was a very special moment.

We had lots of great things happen. Very different attitude for me this trip. All I wanted was happy memories and a healthy trip. I did not focus on getting on every ride or seeing every show. Much healthier attitude. But I wish for DD8's sake that we got into AI. She wanted to see it so bad but the schedule did not fit into the day and we kept missing the show.

Toy Story Mania is something else. The ride is fun and all but the crowd was insane. We got there for rope drop and people were trampeling the girls. We left DD5 back at the room and DD10 and DD8 made a run for it with me. We could not believe the insanity that surrounded this ride. CM's walked us to the ride and they had to yell at guests on several occasions. The only think I can compare it to is shopping for a hot item on Black Friday.

Question for all you veterans. Why do rides shut down for "technical difficulties"???? At first we were thinking that they were breaking down and needed repair but by the end of the trip we started to think that maybe they were shutting them to save money. Like BTMRR would be closed but Splash would be open and then Splash would close but BTMRR would reopen. We have STACKS of fastpasses because we could not get on rides. It happened everyday and at every park. At first I thought someone got sick and they were cleaning. How does a ride close for 3 hours and then is fine again? Just a thought, anyone else thought that before?

So of course there is tons more but I wanted to check in. Really late here and I have DD5 sleeping on my lap. More tomorrow!

Oh...As for CS in MK. I agree with MKY. Starlight Cafe was great. We were able to get tables, the lines were short, food was good, great variety. Also, the CM's there seem to love their job. Must have great management. Lots of laughing, singing, carrying on. Hula hoops for the kids, lots of interaction.

Your pictures are wonderful! I thought, these have to be tp2's kids, but they're older. Growing up so fast. Everyone looked so happy! Must of be a great trip. Glad you liked tommorrowland terrace! We know "sonny ray's" show. Sorry about the dining plan. It always seemed to confusing to me. I know, I would not get half of what your suppose to. Wow, I knew, we never bought the pretzels before at goofy's. What did you think of your suite? Are they located in good positions? Setup good? I saw the prices for 2010 and we are definately downsizing unless their is spectacular discounts. Glad you got a personal preview of the "fall" decorations. I can't wait. We are in the 30's.

mky...I'm so sorry you have to work. That stinks, but just keep your eye on the prize and the Disney trip!!! SO EXCITING!!!

MKY: We stayed in 2 connecting rooms. We wanted the girls to have beds instead of foldouts. The hotel was great. Staff was wonderful. They were tripping over each other to help you out. Only downside was the toilets flushing and the maintence workers in the golf carts. They seemed to work 24/7 and we were always being woken up. Maybe 3rd floor instead of ground level would have changed that. Something to remember for our next trip.

I am a bit jealous you are going back again so soon. I have no idea when we will think about going again. DD5 was petrified of a lot of things. We had to cancel the MK Dessert Party, too loud for her.

Dining plan was wonderful but still a lot of food for us. Plus we planned a few extras so we had tons of credits left over. We did not eat a thing until dinner last night.

EE22, Good luck, with the sleep study DH of ee22. I don't think I could sleep if they want you to. for good news.

TP2, I think the 2 rooms sound better too. We always ask for top floor if possible. [poly is very noisy so always there]. Saw the set up for the desert party, pretty but probably too crowded. Glad you and the girls enjoyed the tea. Was it the regular tea or the children's tea? Pictures I thought looked like the regular. Relaxing and quiet. Your photopass is beautiful. They took some great pictures.

MKY: Now that we know better, we will always ask for a top floor. I always liked the main floor for convenience but the noise was too much.

For the first time we have a ton of photopass pictures and they raised the price. For $99 I would probably do it, but at $149 it is just too steep. I think I am going to order a couple and then the CD to add borders to our own pictures.

We did go to the regular tea but they have a kids choice which all of the girls got. Only DD5 got chocolate milk. The older girls got tea but complained that they don't really like it. They mainly played with the suger cubes and had fun pouring milk. It was a nice afternoon.

EE22: Good luck with the sleep study. DH was supposed to do it and he said he would never sleep. They told him that he would EVENTUALLY sleep and would keep him until he finally slept and hit that cycle. So, don't be surprised if it takes longer than you expect.

My kids want to know when we can stay at the GF! I said we could stay there but vacation would be for 5 days instead of 14. They agreed with the 14 days instead.

Looks like this may be thread where I belong....

We are saving for a two week stay at the POLY for JULY 2011 - I thought I was being overly anxious by thinking about planning/reservations....

but I just went to check availability for JULY 2010 - and the POLY (concierge) is already booked full!!!!!!!

So how far in advance can I (or SHOULD I) try to reserve July 2011??

How much $$ will I need to reserve those dates?
