Tomar: To funny about Mr. Tomar! Your DH and my DH should get together. Before we went to Florida, about 3 years ago, he ran to the dermatologist because of something on his face. Doc said, just aging but stay out of the sun. You have a lot of damage and some of the spots could become cancerous.:sad2: So I go out and buy 50 sunblock and a big Australian hat with the rim all the way around. What does he do? Makes me return the hat and walks around with no sunblock at all. I feel your pain.

.
TP2- You haven`t lived ...until you see Mr. Tomar at the froggy pool !!...No one else in the WORLD exists....except Him...and the SUN !!:rotfl2: :beach:
I hear ya about your DH too....they just don`t want to hear it when it comes to relaxing in the sun :sunny: (Which ...BTW ...I wish we had alittle of these days...I mean the warmth at least ) ;)
How are the girls doing ?:flower3:

Snow day here today so maybe I can get caught up on posts...I've just been posted complaints about the bad weather:lmao: I have to vent to someone because everyone else is in the same shape here.

.
EE22- Im so sorry about your Frigid weather ...but at least you had alittle down time to catch up on Disney talk

Hiya everyone,
Tomar, I don't believe you. Mr. Tomar I am sure, listens and obey's every wish of Mrs. Tomar? :lmao: I liked his frogs.;) That was our favorite pool at SSR.

mky:cutie:
MKY- :cutie:
BELIEVE ME !! ....If the Pool was a paying attraction at the world......Mr. Tomar would have an Annual Pass just for that !!!:rolleyes1

Hey TP2, I wish I could get to our grille. I think it is still on the deck & one of the lumps of snow.

mky:cutie:

Ditto!

TP2: the site is horrible. I was looking for hours for a friend. I didn't do as much as you and Tomar and I didn't like it at all!

MKY: I had to kick the back door open because it was frozen shut.:rotfl: Then there were big piles of ice on the grill. It had to heat up for about 15 minutes. I really have no idea what I was thinking.

Tomar: The girls are great. Thanks for asking.:goodvibes

I have given up on DH. Just something I have to accept and I am sure you are in the same boat.

EE22: Yes, it is just terrible and I know where I need to go and what I want to find. Imagine someone without a lot of knowledge of the site.

Hey MKY: You hit the nail right on the head with Mr. TP2. Blue eyes. DD10 has red hair and freckles, know where that came from?:lmao:

So in this deep cold, know what I made for dinner? I BBQ'ed burgers.:rotfl: I have no idea of what got into me. DH got home and asked where I was cooking them. He then put on his ski jacket and did the grillen.:rotfl:

Tomar: Totally agree about the Disney site. Total mess.:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: You can not get any info off of it. I was trying to get resort prices and figure pricing on dining plan. Kept timing out and kicking me off. I have also tried calling and got disconnected on two different days. Never got to speak with anyone. All I know is that it can't be too good for business.

TP2-...I hope someone from Disney reads our little posts and realizes that the site is HORRIBLE !!:scared1:
I cannot navigate anything !!:scared:
LOL about the BBQ...My Neighbors use thiers all year long !....I see them out there in the rain with an unbrella...in the dead of winter Freezing and making burgers !! With our luck...for one BBQed peice of meat...we`d end up with pneumonia !!! :scared: :scared1:

Nothing takes better than BBQ burgers at home in winter!!! :goodvibes

Well one good thing about growing up poor (my definition of poor is - food, shelter, clothing and not much else) is that I never lived high on the hog. I have always managed our money with the focus on a balanced life with little or no debt if possible and savings to fall back on.

I think that will help us survive this hard time. As long as I can find a job doing something full time, we will be able to manage okay. We might have to cut back on the travel, but we will be fine.

Everyone needs to try to remember to be generous during these hard times. I believe you must have your hand out in generocity in order to receive good fortune. If you cling to every dime you have, it seems the cosmic forces pull every dime you have out of you pockets...karma I guess. Plus there are others that are way worse off than we are.

TP2 - :lmao: you must have wanted to shake some of the family. Do you think that is the definition of spoiled? Do you look at their boats and try to figure out how many trips to Disney they could have taken instead?:lmao: I tend to do that with fancy cars that friends have.

Well is it -8F here now but at least the wind is quiet. The heating bill came today :scared1: . Needless to say the house is cold tonight and too bad! pirate:

Have a great evening everyone.

:cool1:
With all the talk about the wdw website, I went to check out the changes. You guys are right > took me ten minutes to find park hours on the bottom of the page.:rotfl: > and another 10 to get up march's hours. >> Progress.:thumbsup2 Not sure this is a step forward.:confused3

Happy Wednesday, 56 days to goooooooooooooo:wizard:

mky:cutie:

Candi: At least you are still laughing!:thumbsup2 I feel like the entire country has been living on credit and a lot of this mess is a wake up call.;) We too live without debt and do without a lot of things that others around us take for granted. They are not smiling now though.:sad2: No one thought the gravy train would run out but it did. We will all regroup and everyone will be fine. I think it will just be a time of adjustment.

MKY: I really can't imagine Disney not knowing. It has to be something that they are working on and it is just a work in progress. I was on the Touring Plans site and they are suggesting phone calls complaining because of the flash involved. I guess too much of it is slowing everything down. In the meantime, while we are all locked away because of illness and cold, WHAT ELSE ARE WE TO DO???? Clean our house or something?:rotfl:

Evening everyone!:wizard:

TP2, That WDW website is definately not an improvement. Maybe we are just too used to the old site. Maybe new people to the site, think it is fine? or ok to navigate? I am probably to stuck in my ways & want it the way it was.;)

EE22, that wind is blowing straight here. :scared1: We are minuses all day and still in a foot of snow. :scared1: But the sun was out.:rotfl: All the schools where closed today and probably tommorrow.

TP2 & Tomar, Saw that plane in the hudson this afternoon on tv.:wizard: What a great pilot. That was scary. Great response by NY thou.:thumbsup2

Keep warm, mky:cutie:

mky...we've been off for 3 days now. DL11 and DS studied for finals they never had and they have been called off completely now. Very strange week. We had an early out Monday and a late start Tuesday and then no school. After two weeks at winter break, the students may never get back in the groove.

Tomar and TP2...amazing about the plane.:thumbsup2 I smiled to myself because my cousin and I way back in the early 80's we took the Circle Line tour and hated it and I guess they were helping out yesterday:p Just had to laugh out loud when I heard they were out there.

We broke a record yesterday with -29 and I'm not sure what the temp went to last night. DS looked up diesel fuel for the busses and it turns to wax at a certain temp. I guess some schools sent them out and had major issues yesterday. Still cold here and not going to be above zero till late afternoon.

I'm glad our trip is in July...who knows when we will get out of school:hourglass

Hiya everyone,

Still freezing here too. -24 this am. I thought the thermomter broke too, but the red part was soooooooooooo far down. :rotfl: Really wicked. Sunny & windy. Suppose to snow later. The news said: atlanta was cold and florida is in 60's. :hyper: But fairbanks alaska is 40? This is weird.

Called wdw today, and paid off trips. :cheer2: The wdw travel c/o said: 100% refund at 45 days or more, and the lowest it goes is lose $200.00 if less than 1 week. So that is not too bad. I don't want to cancel anything. Starting to ready for trip. Got my new visa / disney points card in mail & bought a few small things while at store today > for trip. :cheer2: Starting to feel real. I think we are at 54 daysish.:confused3

EE22, I saw the ferry boats yesterday on tv too. We have only been to NY once. And it was the world's fair when I was little.:rotfl: The one that "carousel of progress & small world" was in. I don't remember too much. I remember asking "where is the statue of liberty" over and over again, > and dad kept shhhhhhhing us.

Hope everyone states warm. mky:cutie:

Hi Guys ! :goodvibes
Well....All I can say for the Circle Line boats and the ferrys that travel up and down our coastal ways in New York and New Jersey is......"THANK GOD THEY WERE THERE"!!
The frigid temps...would have been disastrous for those poor people :sad2:
And....all I can wish for (every time I take a flight to the world)....is a pilot like the one that flew that USAIRWAYS jet...and used his sharp mind and split second decision making in resting it down in the Hudson ...where help was a finger tip away (sort of speak !)
Im not a fan of flying...never was....I don`t know if Im more confident today :snooty:....because of the heroics of that pilot and the fact that everyone pulled through (thank God)..... ....or.....Im just .... more frightened to fly  :faint: !
I know that Id rather fly than drive to the world that`s for sure( takes too long to drive )...sooooooo....I`ll let you guys in on a little secret......"I pray ALOT" ....going and comeing home !!     ::yes:: ;)

Hey Tomar, I am afraid to fly too. But, have to be brave for bug. She is really scared. So I never say anthing and just read magazines like a nut. The trashier the better. Reading wild stories really keep your mind busy. It didn't used to bother me, I used to look out window and enjoy the flight. Not anymore. We thought about driving for a long time, this time > and I don't mind the drive there >> just the drive back.:rotfl:

mky:cutie:

Hey everyone:

Tomar: I have to say that I have always flown with the thoughts that if it went down we were all goners and it would be over in a flash. I don't read the safety stuff, it is all or nothing for me. Now, I feel so differently and I am almost more fearful, which is crazy but I think of my kids being with me on that plane and having to indure what those poor people went through. Just to much to comprehend. When I used to travel a lot, I remember that there were certain clothes that you should wear. I can't remember it all now but even at the time I kind of let it in one ear and out the other. One thing was no shorts and another was women wearing stockings with heals. The stockings would burn to the legs and be more painful, the heals for obvious reasons. We were to wear sneakers to fly. I can't for the life of me now remember all the clothing options and reasons for not wearing them but I always thought is was ridiculous. Getting on the plane was a chance and no matter what I was wearing would the outcome be any different. All I kept thinking was that most of the people problaby had coats stowed away upon impact so they literally had the shirts on their back and thats it.

EE22 & MKY: Try to stay warm. I can feel the cold air just coming in the house and it is not as cold here as it is by you.

Hi everyone.

We are -20F with the wind chill. The car hardly wants to run it is so cold.

Hurray for the crew on the flight that went down. It was a remarkable effort and I think the only reason it stayed afloat for so long was because of the weight of the missing engines not being there. God really did take care of that group.

As for a fear of flying....not here. The very first flight I took I was 17 and flew alone to visit friends in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. They had a tornado while we were trying to land so we circled around it, but you can imagine the turbulance! So maybe my frame of reference is slanted because of that. :lmao:

Only had one scarey moment that I actually started to pray that we did not crash. Denver is a tricky airport due to the mountains and shifting winds. Just after take off, about maybe 300-500 feet (within that critical time frame whatever it is) and we hit a one of the pockets of air that causes the airplane to fall rapidly. Since we didn't have that much distance between us and the ground...that was scarry. :faint: But only that one time.

I don't think it hit the news here but our company cut 120 jobs at the head office in Denver, 15 in Rochester and 12 in Aachen Germany. They say we are in for more too, but maybe it will only be a couple since we already trimmed staff and other plants had not. On the positive front we are bringing a few people back next week on the plant floor, just not sure for how long but anything is good. :cool1:

MKY - we are at 54 days too. We leave on the 12th and get in very late (after midnight) so we are going to stay at a hotel by the airport and then pick up the rental car and drive to the Nikalodian hotel on the Friday. Then Saturday we are on the Magic for 7 nights then off to Vero Beach for another two nights. This is one of the most complicated trips yet, even if I count Europe. We have one round trip flight, two car rentals, the cruise and two shore excursions I book myself instead of with the ship, as well as three different hotels. Plus one night at Vero Beach is cash. 40 pionts for one night was way too many.

Anyway...better run. I need to rest up so I can take my Christmas tree down tomorrow.:thumbsup2

Good Morning everyone :surfweb:

MKY- I hear ya about trying to read and take your mind off the goings on on the plane....I do that too....I have the IPOD now...so I just listen to all my Disney songs...and in between them...I say another prayer...while Mr. Tomar ............................sleeps !!:crazy2:
He holds my hand when we take off...and land...cause he knows Im frightened .....Imagine....all that I do for the love of ....Mickey :flower3: !! :goodvibes

TP2- Yikes about the Nylon stockings !:scared: ....That`ll be the day I get dressed up to fly these days....not on your life....the sneaker thing is more in the way of a ......Quick "get away"....I usually wear my crocs and capris on the plane ....Im with ya on not paying attention to the flight attendant at the beginning of the flight...Im too busy talking to a "higher authority" !!
And....I guess it`s mind over matter...if I don`t pay attention...nothing will happen....:faint:....I will though ...in the future...it`s really weird...I can`t imagine going through what those poor people did.....and.....they were truely blessed in the end !!
Very scarey about the bird strike !....Wehave them all over the place here in New Jersey....UGH....Im now ....rethinking .....liking ...birds !!:scared: :crazy2:

Candi- WOW....didn`t realize that you have a trip coming up again so soon !:thumbsup2
Sorry about the lay-offs in your plant...but happy that they are actually bringing some people back !...that is a good thing !

Happy Weekend Guys ! :grouphug:

Hi All...well, it's back into the upper 20's and low 30's so we had a temperature change of 50 degrees. -29 broke all records going back to 1924 here. The thermometer in the Quad Cities did break!! Wind Chills were -50+ here. We lost three days of school. I'm glad our trip is in July this year. Only 25% of the busses would start on Thursday and Friday. Diesel doesn't like the cold that's for sure. I had to have the neighbor help charge DS's battery and then off to Sears to get him a new one...that was Thursday so I knew we wouldn't have school Friday. We have so much snow...there's no place to put it. It's as high as it was last winter in March. We climb the bank to get to the mailbox.

So...we have a lot of winter left.

I'll count with mky and Candi and maybe that will help.

Hiya everyone, Hope you all had a great weekend. :)

Worked this weekend, not too bad. Steady but not crazy. We are at a high 15 today. :) I didn't use my seat warmers. :) It was soooooooo warm.

Vader is becoming a couch potatoe. He has been in so much lately, all he wants to do is sleep. We even cover him up with a blanket at nite. :rotfl:

Candi, we are flying the same day [just early afternoon]. We will be at the magic kingdom on friday the 13th > You? We will have to connect for a few minutes if your going to the park. This is too exciting.

TP2, I was thinking "why would you where panty hose on plane" > Can't remember the last time, I even wore them around here.:rotfl:

As far as my worrying about flying, I used to not think about it at all. I had flown by myself, flew 9 hours back and forth to hawaii, never worried about nothing. But, think it started cause we where at wdw, on sept 11. And had flown so close to the disaster. Coming home was really scary. If we had not flown so close to it, not sure if it would scare me as much.:confused3
It is probably, similiar to you guys outside of new york too. Being so closely involved probably has effected you more.

EE22, they are saying we are going sub zero again > next weekend. And sorry, but I have to where to put snow either > can't take some for you.;)

52 and counting!!

mky:cutie:

MKY - I would love to try to meet for a few minutes. But we are not planning on going to the parks this next trip.

We will be at the Nikelodion Hotel in Lake Buena Vista and we will have an SUV that we are renting. What time might you head out of the park that day? We are heading to the port on Saturday morning are you doing Chef Mickey's on Saturday morning?:confused3

When is your last day there?

It is still cold here today but I finished booking the last of my shore excursions so was thinking warm thoughts. :beach:

Have a great Sunday night everyone. :laundy:

Found the calendar of hours even though they are not filled in and no shows or parades are there either. I hope they finish it soon! Not good.
they are under the Discovery tab...then the park and then down for the calendar which is a pain.:crazy2:
