June, July, August PLANNING thread

CMwannabe - we will be at AKV but it is July 13-22nd.

TP2 - you are correct. I am looking for someone that can help out a bit, but more for company than help really. My kids are 12 and 9 (10 by the time we go) so it isn't like they are babies any more. But it would be nice to send them with someone while I run for fast passes and such.

I have two more people I have asked to come and if they both say no, I am going it alone. One is an older woman from our church that I really like. It will be like taking an older grandma with us.

I will have to watch out for her a bit - she gets a little confused but she is stil pretty independant. She would not know how to navigate the bus systems and such but she would be fine to wait or walk with the kids while I do the running. But I would be fine with that.

Maybe my husband can get away for a few days of the trip.

Hiya everyone! TGIF

It has been beauitful here all week. But EE22, we are just starting to get your weather now. It is thundering out and pretty windy. Talking hail hopefully not tornado's. They said this is coming all across the country and look out its still heading east.

Candi, We miss you by about 2 weeks in July. We land on the 31st. BUT lookout, March 09' I have the 2 middle weeks off and planning a trip. Maybe we will overlap and could meet up. Would be best if your DH could meet up with you guys.

CMwannabee, Sorry, the 31st we check into the CR. Have a great trip.

Tomar, hoping your doing better. Look out for the withdrawl > also nasty. Takes 2-3 days. I always feel sore, all over. Like you worked out for 12hours and then got beat up.

TP2, virginia sounds interesting. We always wanted to go to DC but you've probably been being out east already. I thought everyone goes to the "hamptoms"? Or at least kelly ripa and the sex in the city girls. Must be wonderful being by beaches so close. Is the water warm in the summer? Lake Michigan is about 32 degrees even in august. It could be sunny and hot 90's+ and it is still freezing.

EE22, I will be disappointed if I don't see them in the Olympic's someday. Your kids are really good at the field competition's. Congratulations!

Good news, they just ran across the tv with the tornado watch. It's looking like a long weekend.

I just finished the prednisone...thank you for the heads up on how Im gunna be feeling the next couple of days....ick...it doesn`t sound like Im gunna be liking the feeling though...LOL
Im sorry that you don`t live near any beaches ....here on the east coast ...Beaches are very very close to anywhere you are....and especially in New Jersey ...I live 10 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean ....
By August...the ocean water is very nice...but it has to warm up...if we start to go to the beach in May (memorial day)...the water will be ice cold until July....
I have the DVR set to tape ...."Disney on a Dime "from the Travel Chanel tonight....just a reminder for you guys !!

Hi All...I'm behind again which is the way in the spring. Track keeps us on the move. Next week was busier, but our field is now completely under water so two meets are off. Too much snow and too much rain. Today students had to go move their cars as they were going under water from the creek that is now a raging river. Very bad!

Hang in there mky...our weather was bad for two days.

Good luck TP2 with your planning of your new trip. It will be fun. We had a great time last summer even when we weren't in Disney...it was just different. Maybe DH will see that it's just as expensive too

Okay - I tried to add a picture here of the gang at Disney in Mar 08 but I am not sure if I did it right. I will post this and see what happens.

Nope - did not work.

MKY - It will be great if we can meet up next March - I would really like that.

My DH will not be able to join us in July. He has found out that he needs to be out of town for work the week we will be away.

So I am going to plan for the three of us to go on our own. It will be fun - just different.

I fear I did not get online early enought to catch Disney on a Dime.

Remember to Hydrate! And a break mid day in the pool is always a good idea. Start early when it is cooler, and stay later when it is cooler.

EE22, wow, that is some flood. Hope things are looking up. We got lucky it rained about 12 hours and then just cloudy and cooler at about 60. Nice interview.

Planning wise, We just went over some adr's. Looks like everything will stay as is. Bad news: Max got into some trouble at school (boys) so his status right now is questionable. He might be grounded or in summer school. So > do I change my adr from 3 to 2 if he doesn't come or leave it and let it ride, might be a last minute reprive or might not be able to change them. This ain't good. I have already bought his airline tix. He will have to work it off if he doesn't make it. Boys are a whole other species. Just not thinking.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Bring on Monday. I can't wait to get out of april.

mky...I would NOT change your adrs. Getting tables for 2 can be difficult since I would try for DD and I. I'd leave as is and when you arrive...just tell them he couldn't make it and leave it at that.

I am sorry. Growing up is painful that's all I know.

I'm keeping my eye on the prize right now. School is a nightmare with kids not wanting to be there, etc. We are down to 26 days of school which is good, but it's a tough time of year and the math is very hard too!

Can't wait to see my buddy Mickey though

MKY - sorry to hear about Max - having been in trouble at school (pretty big at the time, not so big looking back) I still pulled out a GPA of 3.8 in college, so don't give up yet.

As for changing your reservations, we had that issue this past March because of our friends son did not end up coming with his girlfriend as planned. You can remove one person for the reservation at the time of check in but not two. EE22 is right - just tell them he could not make it when you check in.

As for the airline - even if the ticket is non refundable, some will issue you a voucher for a later trip. You might want to call and check to see if he can change the date to a later date for a "change fee" (usually around $100) or if you can get a voucher. You could choose to change his ticket to another trip you are planning to make?

I looked at March 09 airline tickets last night and almost fell out of the chair. They are running $500 instead of $350 like every other year! Maybe I will wait and see if we can give up our seats in July before I book the March trip.

EE22 - when are you done school? My kids have to go until June 25th.

Last day for kids is June 3rd...my last day is the 5th.
We start on August 14th though.

I have graduation parties already next weekend they take up so much time and graduation is Memorial Day weekend and that's all I do is attend parties. DD use to come with me, but now doesn't since she's in high school. It's very awkward when I go to a party and don't know a soul there besides the graduate Prom is the 10th and I"m helping with the Grand March that night. Cannot believe DS will be a junior next year! WOW!

Thanks, I will leave the adr's as is. We should know what his punishment will be by next weekend. The airline tix where only about 200.00 I hate to pay another 100.00 in change fees, but I know it will be at least that with United. I might just enjoy the extra room on the plane. He is the first boy in our family. All girls here and sis had to 2 older daughter's then finally the 1st grand son. They really are a different species. I told him if they still let him go > he might wish he didn't I am stricter than his mom. She blames his ADHD, and I think he can do a little bit better. (with the right supervision).

Hoping the weather clears here soon too. It does feel warmer tonight than earlier. Or maybe my lap top is getting hot? I think I spent too much time on pogo tonight.

I would still take him along. Just my opinion.
Maybe its not adhd, maybe he's looking for more attention from dad.

Thank you, however; he is my nephew and if grounded by his parents or in summer school, he will not be allowed to go with his aunts.

MKY - what a good aunt you are to have that attitude! You must be an awsome mom too.

Maybe it is part ADHD and part testosterone! He is at that age isn't he? I know that girls can be harder in a different way than boys and I am glad I have two.

Hopefully things will all work out fine in the end. Better to have some trouble early than to have him go nuts in college with no one to teach him how to deal with issues that come up.

EE22 - we start school right after Labour day - so there seems to be a couple weeks that we go longer than you, they are so hot the last couple of weeks it is crazy but August is really hot here too and would not help to go back earlier.

MKY - what days are you looking at in Mar 09? We are the 12-14 at the Nicolodian hotel and then we are cruising the 14 - 21st.

Hey Candi,

Heard the news today, hope you are ok, at work. That is really sad news.

I always wanted a large family, but unable to have kids. Guess, I picked the right job. So, yes we are really good aunts. Yes, boys will be boys. He is 10 going on 11yr and apparently acting like a 3 yr old.

Not sure about our dates yet. Still waiting from work for the final word. But sounds like we should be close.
