June/July/August 2006 Code watch

And it may be that rates codes for AP's -- when they are released - won't include the month of June. They may start with July.

That IS a possibility.

Well, the outcry on this board when they came out with BRP was lots of OUTRAGED folks who ALL called Disney to complain. :rotfl2: They got what they asked for, it went away and now there is NO advance notice. (Be careful what you wish for.)

Carol, I totally agree!! It seems that unless people get their way & continue to be given in to, they won't be happy.

Do you think a rolling on your back laughing was really necessary???

I am sorry if this offends you but I really do not think posts like this belong on a code waiting thread. This is supposed to be a nice place to come and wait for codes. Laughing at those of us that are still waiting is unnecessary and rather unkind

Pooh Fan, I really don't think that CarolA was laughing at everyone waiting for AP rates.....(Just the ones who complained endlessly about the BRP :) ) You seem so quick to jump all over those of us who voice an opinion about how passholders & possible-passholders have complained about WDW's attempts to satisfy them.

When the Best Rate program came out, people here were throwing fits left & right because WDW wasn't letting them get away with the nonsense that many were so used to getting away with. When the BRP ended, I had no doubt that there would be a few changes in the way that passholder rates would be released.....

Do I feel for everyone waiting for the rates?.....Yes, but it's because I'm waiting too. (but again, the non-release of rates will not ruin our vacation)

Do I think that all of the complaining is a bit funny?.....Yes, because like CarolA said, people got what they asked for.

I highly doubt that anyones attitude or comments on the Dis board will effect the release or non-release of AP rates on way or another and in a forum such as this, opinions from every side should be welcomed..... :sunny:

ok, just got off phone with a very nice cm from grand gatherings. I asked about codes and he said possible, but he doesnt think so that June is almost booked solid until after the 4th. BUT!!!he said based on scheduling try calling back Sunday, that cms are scheduled heavy then and several days next week. He said maybe something in the works? or could just be 2007 rates being released, he didnt know, but Sunday would be the day to call. Heres hoping!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I think Disney may need to build more hotels....lol.

I mean....if they are so full, that they may not offer discounts in the summer....then, it's time to start building again.

Also...the rack rates next summer on a VALUE hotel will be $109 per night....OUCH! I know....supply and demand....but, I think the Value resorts were supposed to be for people who wanted to stay onsite, but could not afford to stay at the nicer resorts. I think the moderates were going for around $109 per night just a few years ago...wow!

Disney needs to build a couple more hotels a little further away than the All Stars / Pop Century and maybe label them "Sub-Value Level" or "Slum Level"....which is right below "Value Level". Maybe make the room about 150 sq feet with no TV and a community bath and charge $89 per night....lol

Anyway....I guess if people are willing to pay the rates and keep filling up the hotel, then Disney will keep going up on the prices and offer less discounts. Just the way it goes. Nothing to complain about.....guess I need to ask for a bigger raise next time....or start pulling my kid out of school for an affordable vacation.

I'm starting to lose hope that AP rates will be available. I had put off reserving room for July 8-18 waiting. Last week I finally called and not one room in a mod was available, only pool view deluxe at AKL, courtyard view at WL, suites at CR wings and a few here and there at deluxe. I didn't ask about values. I took the WL courtyard at 268.00 per night (last year same time with AP I paid 128.00) hoping to convert it to an AP rate when they came out. I started to get nervous yesterday because I didn't want to be stuck with that rack rate and seriously, with most of the rooms booked, why would they offer the AP rates now? Anyway, I cancelled WL and booked AS Movies. It's funny, 15 years ago I would make reservations for POR and they would beg me to consider the Poly. Maybe if AP rate are available we'll split our stay

I also agree that the people who complained about the BRP are now wishing the BRP was back...

OR..were the people who complained about the BRP actually the ones who DIDNT have an AP and were scarfing up the AP rates when they were not entitled to them ...HMMM ???

With the BRP, for once, Disney had a way to offer the AP rates to the people who were qualified to get them. NOT anyone just calling up and giving the CM a AP pass code found here or elsewhere.

It seems to me, that the ones who complained about the BRP way of doing it DID NOT already have an AP...and the ones who are not happy its gone are us AP holders who now are likely left in the dark.

We may not get any resort codes for our stay (June 22-July 2), but I had a few "Plan B's" in order: With my Visa Disney rewards we'll get @$200 in free money; with the Dining Card another $4-500 savings; and with the AP, our park hoppers were discounted. But wait, we're doing the KTTK tour and Segdway Tours :rotfl2: oh, well--you save it you spend it! We're going to have a BLAST regardless of code or no code :woohoo: Almost at the one month mark and jumping :yay: for joy!

With my luck it will probably be on Sunday that they are released.

I'll be in WDW and on a bus to Epcot for the F&G Show on Sunday. BTW - I'm staying in an AP room (May codes :thumbsup2 )

Yeah I know you are all crying for me right :lmao:

There is a really easy fix to that....just require the AP number from the actual AP or voucher at the time the reservation is made. It would be just one simple change that would make all the difference. You could still book over the phone or on the internet....etc.....

I think people were complaining about the BRP because of all the restrictions regarding when you could book, when you could cancel, how you could put payments on your reservation, etc....

All Disney would have to now do is say is:

1. We are offering AP rates.
2. If they are offered, they will be released at least 45 days before the first check-in date.
3. If they are not released by then...no discount will be available.
4. You must have AP number or voucher number to book.

Everything else stays the same. You can make payments on your reservation whenever you want....you can book the room anytime before the last check-in date if any rooms are still available.....you can cancel up to 5 days before arriving.....etc.

So...basically 2 things to upgrade the current system and everyone will be happy.

#1 - Require an AP or Voucher Number at the time the reservation is made.

#2 - Tell everyone that if no codes have been released by the 45 or 30 day mark, then no codes will be released. That way people are not waiting until 2 weeks before they leave to sure up their plans.

Ohh...that. I don't know why I didn't think of that...I have some free money coming too then, but I'm not sure how much.

Just out of curiosity, and to give us something to do while we wait for codes, what are s pirate: ome other ways people are getting discounts or saving money on their vacations?

All that I'm aware of is AAA, AP (hopefully!) discount, Disney Visa Rewards. Any more?

At this point I would be okay with that...at least we would know! I'm still hoping for June codes, we are leaving in exactly 30 days for the AKL for 7 nights. With or without codes, I still excited!

SpeedyF...agree 100%. Well said. :thumbsup2

I made a payment on my July trip, and talked to a wonderful CM named Thorton. Of course I brought up the infamous question about codes, he was very nice and said the only times he recalls Disney not having codes is Easter and Christmas. And not to worry, Disney isn't giving codes out as early as before, but they have no intention of not doing them. I also think June is not so far fetched, he seemed to think or (know) they are doing it SOON.

So just hang in there, I fiqure expect the worst-- hope for the best!
(but how bad could the worst be, when were talking about Disney. :hippie: :

I truly believe that AP rates are offered as an incentive to get people to upgrade their resort.

Think about it....if you are paying $155 per night at a moderate, but the AP rate was released to get $169 at a Deluxe...such as WL, AKL, or maybe a wing room at CR.....then, you might upgrade to the deluxe.

That frees up a moderate room....now, the moderate is offered at an AP rate of $115 per night.....someone paying $99 at a value might decide to move up to the moderate for $15 per night more.

That frees up a Value that will be alot easier for Disney to sell at $99 per night vs staying offsite......than trying to sell a Deluxe at $269 per night.

Now....some people just stay put....like me. I am booked at a Value for $99....but, took the AP rate of $74 on 6/3. But, I'm in the "upgrade boat" as well. I'm hoping an AP rate is released for a moderate, because I'd like to split my stay and upgrade to a moderate if the rate is at $115 or better.

So...I really don't think the AP rate is as much of an incentive to AP holders as it is a way for Disney to fill up the Deluxe resorts. Now, if the Deluxe resorts are already full....then, no need for AP's.

If Disney is having a hard time filling up the Deluxes at $300 or $400 per night.....then, they offer discounts to try to get people to move up another level and eventually free up a $99 room that is so much easier for Disney to sell vs. a $300 or $400 room.

I know I moved up last year on a pin code....$79 per night for POR....when I was going to pay $84 per night for POP on a AAA code. I could have booked POP for $59 per night on the pin code....but, decided to upgrade and try the moderate instead. So...it worked on me....lol.

Just my $.02.....

I agree. Also, people have noticed some standard rooms opening up at WL and AKL that have not been available for quite some time. I think they may oversell the standard rooms with the intention of upgrading at their discretion. That is not a fact, only my opinion from observations. Only time will tell, problem is we are running out of time. :hourglass
