June/July/August 2006 Code watch

Here's a question for the summer coders:
There is savings for advance purchase of MYW tickets, but how far in advance do you have to purchase them?

And second, there is no savings for buying an AP early, right?

I'm trying to figure how long I can hold off about our December plane tickets. I would hope by June they will be out, but they only go through December 14th :(

I'm proud of you kinggoofy. You've taken your loss well :) Many would have disappeared after being wrong on the code date. I think that says a lot about your character.

Thanks EE22 for the kind words. Yeah, that was kind of a tough day for me. I bet DW $100 shopping spree at World of Disney vs a 2nd trip to ESPN Club that the codes would be out. Plus knowing the "ribbing" i was going to take on here.

So thanks to EVERYONE on here for being easy on me. I thought it would be worse.

I honestly think that some codes are going to be released. its just a matter of "what and when".

Have a good weekend all.

I thought it was even funnier too when the character on the Disney site went to Goofy too!! I think it might have been that same day or the next. I just laughed!

$100 at World of Disney is only 4 shirts ;)
I would have gone for much, much, much more!!!

No savings on buying AP early. The only discount is in the AP renewal. In fact, we always renew on the last day of our passes, at Epcot. ;)

Well I'm thinking happy thoughts, and wishing us all lots of Pixie Dust for tomorrow morning!

I do think it will be sometime before 5/4 (only because everyone here has given me a reason to hope) but I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow. When I'm at work, I'm away from my computer from 7-3:30 so my chances of finding out about codes (and calling to change our ressies) aren't very good. I'll be home tomorrow because my DS is home sick with a fever

so I'll be able to check for codes all morning while he's sleeping, in between bringing him water and changing the cool washcloth on his forehead!

Here's hoping for fantastic, generous codes with lots of room availabilities for all!

Okay, I'm new to this & have been reading this thread. What the heck is everyone talking about? Is there a discount that I might be able to take advantage of? Could someone please clue me in. It's not easy being the
new kid on the block. Thanks!

We are all waiting for annual pass codes for the summer. We hold or will hold an annual pass as our ticket to the parks and for a long time Disney has offered room discounts for passholders and for FL residents.

:confused3
Emailed my castmember friend, and he says if there are any June codes, they will probably have to come out with something by the end of next week, but thinks it would not be on a Friday.
He believes that Disney is trying to get a feel from the higher gas costs :sad2: to see how many regular room rate customers will cancel, and thus open up more rooms pirate:
He will check more into it today with another castmember who works ressies
Have a Disney Day all :teeth:

OK, this may be a bit controversial, but I think it is more likely that Disney is waiting to see what the Fed does on the 10th of May. This is likely to have a much bigger impact that gas prices. If they raise interest rates then the levels of disposable income that are available for holidays will be hit, plus it will strengthen the dollar and may deter some international visitors, if it is not increased then there will not be increased level of income being used to repay debt.

In reality there are probably many factors, the level of projected attendance from existing booking is also likely to be a major issue. If the hotels are near capacity then there is no need to offer discounts for that period. Yes, there is the potential for annoying or upsetting annual pass holder’s but they know, for the most part annual pass holders will come back anyway. As long as they offer discounts again at a later date then they will not damage the relationship with those pass holders as it will be seen as a one off event rather than letting them down. It may also be used as an effective took to increase attendance at slow times.

If you look at the free dining in Sept/Oct it actually averages out at about the same cost to offer this as to give AP discounts. Obviously individually there are many differences.

We do not know, Disney have probably already decided what they are going to do dependant on performance levels.

It would be great to have some insight from your friend, thanks!!! :goodvibes

I read somewhere to call Disney Reservations and see if you were to recieve a special postcard, sometimes your computer may think it's a virus and delete it. I called and my name was list! I could not use the dates available, :sad2: but maybe it will help someone! I have been waiting for codes to come out and I finally gave up and made reservations at VWL. Good Luck to all who are waiting!!

Thank you for your positive input!! My castmember friend is a permanent employee, and has ways of finding out some information SOMETIMES. :sunny: :thumbsup2 I will keep you posted. He works today, and sometimes they find out things on Saturdays.
We will keep hoping :teeth:
I myself have reservations for July 17 through Aug 2, and will have to revise if rates don't drop :rolleyes2

What dates was the postcard good for, and did you just call reservations and ask if you had a postcard coming?
Thanks
Annie :wizard:

annieh6: That would be great if you could fill us in with some sort of detail. At this point I would just like to know if they are going to be given or not so we can make our arrangements. Everything depends on what rate we get so it would be lovely to know even that they are NOT coming. :goodvibes

Thanks for trying to find out some info for all of us and sharing it too!!!!!!!
I hope your friend comes up with some good news!!!!

Personally gave up waiting for June, but still hoping you guys get something soon (and I do too for Oct. trip:sunny: ). Got to hand it to you for handing in there, I just couldn't bring myself to pay rack rate...AAA was even gone for the dates I needed.

IMO, don't think gas prices will effect the folks who have already planned out their trips this summer...just try telling jr. you're not going on promised trip because gas is too high! More likely will make up the difference in discrescinary spending while @ WDW. Do think it will hamper return/spur-of-the-moment trips that AP holders like to take.

Only time I got a post card was a couple years ago a few months after we returned from June trip...nothing special - small disc. on moderate.

Good luck to you all, make sure you post your rates:wizard: those of us behind you are watching.

I keep coming back to...they offer AP Rates over the holiday in December so why wouldn't they in the summer? December and Spring break has to be bigger business than summer.

Yes it's true.
My DH and I are on a budget now and even though we live relatively close to Disney, we didn't want to pay the $20+ in gas to go over and back today. We wanted to go to Epcot for dinner, which we do often, but with our budget and gas prices, we decided not to go over this weekend and I'm sadly missing it! :guilty:
