Oh Boy! We were there the end of June and the weather was absolutely horrible. Really, really hot! My kids decided instead of doing MK on the 2nd day, they didn't want to. They would rather go to the water park. (Only a 2 day trip) Never, ever again.
My husband laughs since we have come home I haven't complained once that it is too hot here.

Good Luck and I really guess it depends where you are from. I live in a shore community so we have beautiful weather.

I don't think the crowds are too bad then, definitely not peak summer levels. I know those of us in the NorthEast are still in school.

In addition to the heat, bring those rain ponchos!

Your kids are older, I'm sure if you plan right, you can manage the heat. Just be prepared!

Good luck!

We have visited WDW during the first two weeks of June for the past three years and have found the weather and the crowds very manageable. It does rain every day but usually for about 15-20 minutes in the early afternoon. This past June was a little different--it came a huge thunderstorm every day at 5 pm. We have always been able to accomplish just about everything we wanted to with a little planning and FastPass.

This same topic is also on the Theme Parks and Strategies board. The majority thinks that it gets too humid and hot in all of June. They also say that the crowds weren't too bad, but the weather is irritating.

I'd say it depends if you have any little ones going along (if so this probably won't apply to you), your tolerance levels for weather & crowds, and of course the length of your stay...
DH & I were at WDW in late June 2001 for our honeymoon. We only had 5 days there, so we rushed sometimes & relaxed others. The crowds weren't too-too bad, but if anyone's used to winter crowds, it may be too much.
If you plan to be at the parks bright & early when they open, you'll probably get pretty much done by noon. That's what DH & I did, then headed back to our resort for a few hours to have lunch & relax & swim. Then we headed back to the parks for some sight-seeing, parades, fireworks, etc.
It was pretty hot & humid, and it did rain for a few minutes one day & then another day it thunder-stormed for a few hours so we missed Spectro & fireworks at MK (now a priority for our next trip since that was our last night there). I'd say if there's any fireworks that are a must-see for you, don't put them off til the last night of your visit, just in case.
As far as crowds/rides, we only waited a long time for 2 rides (Kiliminjaro Safaris/75 minutes & Kali River Rapids/45 minutes); everything else we went on in less than probably 30 minutes, most of which we nearly walked right on (especially with the help of Fastpass!). Since you're going for 8-9 days, if you can handle 90-95 degrees & some wait times, I'm sure you'll be able to get a lot done.
Hope this helps...Enjoy!

We went June 11-20, and the crowd were very managable, because some kids were still in school. It was hot, and there were daily afternoon thunderstorms , but they lasted like 2hrs....we bought those heavy duty mickey ponchos once we got there for 6$, and had great fun because alot of people left when it rained so hard. We waited at the most 15min for dinosaur at Animal kingdom............ this is a great time to go....

We love June! For our past three trips we've gone around the second week of June and have no complaints. Granted, we're from southern Alabama so the weather doesn't phase us too much but we love the slightly smaller crowds as well as the longer park hours. We're planning on going again in June in 2006. I wouldn't go any other time!

(It does get hot and it's in your family's best interest to take breaks during the middle of the day. Just an FYI.)

I will never go in June again! My previous trips had been in Feb. and Oct. This year was a quick trip the last weekend in June with a friend and 2- 4 year olds. The crowds were pretty light in the AM and heavier in the afternoon, but the humidity just wore us out too fast. Felt like taking 2-3 showers a day, but as soon as you walked outside it started all over again. And I'm from Maryland, so I'm used to heat and humidity! Our oldest just started Kindergarten, but we plan on scheduling our Disney trips around miscellaneous days off. They always have two days off in late Oct. or early November for a teacher conference, so we plan on going then with the kids only having to miss 3 days of school.

Are you flying back and forth during these quick breaks. I am from the DC area and my daughter and I adore Disney. I love to go in August when some kids are back in school and the crowds are less. However with the recent FL weather events I do not know if I want to chance it in August again. Taking breaks during a school break sounds like a good idea but it sounds costly for such a short period.
