June camping

How's the weather in June? We'd be tent camping--this would actually be our first time! Ft. Wilderness is the place to "test the waters", IMO...you all make it sound so inviting that I can't imagine that we won't have fun! I'm worried about the heat and the bugs so...keep the advice coming!

We usually go the first two weeks of June and it will be Hot, bring fans and a portable AC if you can. Bug are never much of a problem at FW but I have had bugs at other state parks. Ask to be near a Confort Station that way you can take a quick cool shower if you need to.

I was there in early June last year. I got some kind of bugs all over the front of my truck driving down. There were really tough to clean off. Also, I must taste really good to "deer flies" (that's what we call them here) because I got a lot of bites that really itched. For some reason the mosquitos also like me, but only at the campfire (never on our site or just walking around). Yes, it will be hot in the afternoon, but just go to the pool. Neither bugs nor heat shall keep the campers from Fort Wilderness! Enjoy!
