I'm a sucker for old movies and she was one of my favorite actresses. :(

Some of her films include Little Women (Jo), The Glenn Miller Story (Helen Miller) and Executive Suite (Mary).

I loved June Allyson. RIP, Junie.

Very sad. Nothing like a good June Allyson movie on AMC or TCM. :sad2:

When I saw the news this morning a wave of sadness overtook me. I realized alot of my favorite childhood movies she was a part of. She will always be the real "Jo" to me.

RIP...she was a cutie in "The Glenn Miller Story". Heck even DH watched that one with me and liked it.:goodvibes

I saw this on the news last night and was very sad to hear it. June was a great actress and a great lady and she'll be missed.

If anyone is interested, TCM will be doing a tribute to her on Sunday, July 16th. The schedule is as follows:
6:00 AM The Secret Heart
7:45 AM The Reformer and the Redhead
9:30 AM Best Foot Forward
11:15 AM Private Screenings: June Allyson
12:15 PM Too Young to Kiss
2:00 PM Little Women ('49)
4:15 PM Good News ('47)

As a fan of classic movies, hearing of these deaths always saddens me. We've seen some of the greats leave us in the past few years and it always upsets me because there are so many young children who will never know of these people.

:guilty: I agree with this, the Legends are dying off..... :guilty:

I heard this yesterday and it is very sad. In addition to the wonderful movies already mentioned, she was great in the 1948 version of "The Three Musketeers" with Gene Kelly. If you ever get a chance to see that film, do not miss it! But my favorite of all of her films is "Little Women". And I'm with you, AuntieM03, she will always be "Jo" to me, too.

I was absolutely devastated when Kate Hepburn died a few summers ago. I mean, she was 96 and lived a full life, but she was such a spitfire and my hero when I was a kid.

There are still some glimmers though. Olivia deHavilland just turned 90 and she has long outlived all her Gone With the Wind costars. And Lauren Bacall is still with us as well, almost 50 years after her beloved Bogie left us.

Thank god for TCM and Warner Home Video though. Without the two, all these fantastic movies would be unknown to the public now.

I just LOVED June Allyson growing up! I loved her voice!
