June 5, 2016 - Magic Goes to England, Ireland, Scotland and France

Hello all!

I will be on this cruise with my 3 friends, one of them is DizC1288 :) so I guess I am already on the roll call list!

Super Excited!

Lisa

Yes. They are picking us up from our hotel the morning of our cruise and taking us to the port.

Also, is this their website:

http://coastalcarsairportservices.co.uk

...and it doesn't give any way to determine how much it costs. Is emailing or calling them the only way to find this out?

Thanks for your help!
Yes email them. Price depends on how many people and where. There are 2 of us and the cost is 109 lbs from London to Dover.

It usually takes a day or two for them to get back to you.

Thanks so much for the quick response!

Yes email them. We are a family of 4 and will need a car seat. The cost was 150 pounds if paid in cash and 156 pounds if paid by card. Our hotel is near Tower of London and taking us straight to port.

Lisa - welcome! I added your DIS name to the roll call at the beginning of the thread with DizC1288's entry! Welcome aboard the planning thread!

We, too, are using Coastal Cars for our transportation from Gatwick to Dover, and from Dover to Gatwick via Canterbury.
We are getting the larger vehicle as there will be four adults and cruise-luggage. The cost from Gatwick to Dover is 120 GBP cash (123 GBP credit). From Dover to Gatwick via Canterbury, it's 150 GBP plus 20 GBP/hour waiting time.

Thanks for the info! We're are on the 6/17 sailing and I've just booked our airfare using reward miles and cash. We don't embark/disembark from the same country so we had to settle for a roundtrip to/from Heathrow - using reward miles - and then buy one way tickets to Heathrow from Copenhagen. I also had to pay the taxes on the "free" tickets. Even so, way better than paying for every leg.

So now that I've done that, I can book our ground transportation! Really appreciate everyone's info!

My participation in this cruise is in jeopardy. We just lost two people in my department and I have a new department chair. I teach accounting at Middle Tennessee State. In other words, I may be needed to teach classes in June. We have several faculty members who can't work summers because the are untenured and need to get publications churned out and need summers open to do that. And we are short faculty. On the other hand, we have students that need classes to graduate on time. So I may have to work June as well as July. Either way I am still doing the EBTA in May.

oh gosh, no :( Im not going on the cruise but I live in one of the ports (Dublin) so Im following along to give everyone any help for the Dublin part of the cruise.

Hopefully things will work out for you and you can still make the cruise. Have you got travel insurance, as if you have to cancel you may be able to claim back some of your money

Middle Tennessee State 8-) Go Blue Raiders ! I graduated from UT Memphis Medical a long time ago. We are in about the same boat as you (ha ha, no pun). We are in Minnesota now and the nurses union contract expires in June of 2016, should they decide to strike that will mean that my leave will be revoked and we will be enjoying long hospital tours instead of shore excursions. Just have to hope for the best. pixiedust:

BadPinkTink, I want to thank you for looking in and offering assistance with Dublin. My mother's family is in Donegal and we hope to visit the week before the cruise, have not been there since our visit almost 10 years ago. Then we stayed in Dublin for a few days prior to heading up, really enjoyed every minute. On our day in port this go round we plan to get to the Trinity College area, visit the campus library, temple bar, Dublin castle, city hall, the river, St Stephens Green (love it there), if time permits St Patrick's Cathedral and of course lots of little shops and pubs along the way. WE know this is fairly aggressive but you have to have a plan so that when you find a nice little pub with good music you can sit and look over the plan to see what you are cutting off. Really excited about getting back to your beautiful city.
