~June 27, 2009 Western, anyone?~

Happy Easter to all!
I'm not thinking of packing yet, but in my mind, I'm planning what I want to wear, which changes every day! First step, I need to try on and see what still fits - hopefully, it all will and I won't need to buy too much. But you know how that goes!!! Enjoy your day with your family!!

Hola everyone!
If you read the FAQ's thread, there's something about Sea Lice on Castaway Cay in the summer months. To be on the safe side I bought some of the Safe Sea Sunscreen mentioned on tat thead. First thing for our cruise box, I have to hide the shirts I bought for the guys ;).

Belle, you are lucky. None of my cool cruise (read cheap) clothes fit (but hey! we have 8 weeks right!). I did buy DD and myself some new flip flops from LL Bean.

Laundry calls, no work this week, I work for the school district and when they are off, I'm off (I'm a contractor). Off to So Cal tomorrow to look at UCSD for DS...:scared1:

wwwosie - so far, I'm not so lucky, the capris I tried on this morning were kind of tight - so, buy new, or hope to loose weight? - Yeah - I agree, buy new!!

Have fun at SO Cal - I'm off to check out the sea lice thing!

Buy NEW Capris and lose weight so you can get them in a smaller size? (Says the mom who just ate four reeses peanut butter egg thingies :lmao:)

That Easter candy can be a real problem, I never met a peanut butter egg I didn't like!!!

Hi all. I was able to get a Palo dinner ressie for Tuesday night. I probably didn't need to go on at midnight to get it, but it was exciting waiting for the stroke of midnight to go in and get the ressie :) High tea was full but brunch and dinner had openings. There were a lot of dinner ressies still available.

I had a small problem. I was trying to make the ressie for a party of six. We have 3 linked reservations, so I didn't anticipate having trouble making a ressie for 2 adults from each stateroom. The problem was that I couldn't get a table for a group larger than 4. After doing further research on the main cruise forum, it seems that online ressies can only be made for 4 people or less. I was advised to make two separate ressies, one for 2 and one for 4, and then when we get on ship, to have them put us together. So that's what I did.

Today, I completed the online forms (how else to spend a cool, cloudy spring break afternoon). Next project, door magnets :)

One more thing, will this cruise meet be exchanging gifts? Do I need to invest in one of those fish extender thingies?

Hi everyone,
I have a few more questions. Can my DS (age 5) wear shorts and a polo to dinner on the casual nights in the dining room? Also, could my DH wear shorts in the dining rooms on those nights as well or would pants be better?

Also, do you know if we can bring alcohol on to the ship? I thought I had read somewhere that you could and then someone told me that in the paperwork we received it said that we could not bring any snacks or drinks on the ship.

I also had read somewhere that there are specials in the Spa on port days but when I went to book a treatment on-line there was nothing like that listed. So I booked something else but I am hoping that there are some specials that I can change it to. Does anyone know about them and if I would be able to switch what I already booked?

Lastly, DH and DS booked an excursion in Cozumel on the Atlantis sub. It is rather expensive. Has anyone every did it and think that it is worth the price?

Again, thanks for all of your advice. Only a few more weeks to go!

Hi there - Disney asks that shorts not be worn in the dining rooms for dinner. However, you will see some of the children (especially young boys) dressed in shorts - in my opinion, the boys look cute in dress shorts and a nice shirt. I think that's acceptable. Your DH should wear long slacks for dinner, even on the casual evenings. (You'll see everything, but IMO long pants are more appropriate and much more prevalent for older boys and men.)

You can carry beverages onto the ship (I believe the policy says differently, but there are many posts saying that people do it.) You cannot pack them in the checked luggage; you'll have to carry them on. Many people pack a cooler - we will be taking a soft-sided cooler with a shoulder strap, others take a cooler on wheels. It can't be too large since it needs to fit through a scanner. If you're boarding the ship early, note that you can't get to your stateroom for a couple hours so will need to transport all your carry-ons with you. You wouldn't want it to be too heavy.

We took the Atlantis submarine excursion (at a different port) many years ago. I think the value of the excursion depends on what you see. We were able to see lots of bright fish and sea turtles, which thrilled our children, but if you don't see too much then your family won't be as happy with your choice. (I know this answer doesn't help you at all - sorry!) If your DS will think a submarine ride is really cool, I'd say go for it!

I don't know much about the spa, so can't help with that question. You might find some information by looking at some recent navigators to see if they had specials highlighted on them.

Hope this helps a little bit!

What does everybody else think? I'm torn ... I hate to add even more stuff to the packing list ... but this could be fun too.

I love that name...
I'm in if other people are in, if not, we can all treat each other to Mickey Bars:lmao::lmao:

we can all treat each other to Mickey Bars:lmao::lmao:

Now I LOVE that idea! Let's call it "Room Service Roulette" ... we'll all order junk food and have it sent to each other's rooms. :lmao: And it's all FREE! Yum!

On a serious note, anybody else want to weigh in on the "Fish Extender Thingies"??

We are in! I think this would be fun!! If you look at it how many people are really on our cruise, 100???:confused3. It seems that rooms are still available as of today. I guess this means a GREAT TIME without the crowd:yay:

I am sure they will fill the ship with Florida/Military/CM discounts... still...

Anyone here know how to organize a "Fish Extender Thingie" Soiree... I think it is now officially a Fish Extender Thingie for this group...

We're up for anything that the group decides but don't know anything about how to organize the gift giving. We're WDW veterans, but this is a first cruise (Disney or otherwise) for us. Anyone know the easiest/cheapest way to get or make a "fish extender thingie"?

We would be interested as well!! Let me know what I need to do to prepare for this. Sounds like fun!

Hi all!!!

Ok so I did some research and this is what I came up with regarding the DIS-Fish extenders thing. First one person gathers all of the room and deck numbers for the individuals that want to participate. This is given to everyone so we know where to deliver the goodies:banana:. Most DIS groups do a meet/greet on the 2nd day of the cruise (morning). Basically what you give and how much you give is determined by the group. So if you want to give a goody every day or every other day etc. then all participants would decide. Let me know if this makes sense or if you have any questions or if I have any wrong info. :cheer2:
