~June 27, 2009 Western, anyone?~

Hey everyone...I wanted to chime in too! I'm ljm23's DH. This is our 4th Disney Cruise but our first 7 day! :thumbsup2 I haven't read through the whole thread yet but is there a meet and greet arranged yet? :woohoo:

Mike

Hey! I am alive. Settled in the new job nicely and then went to WDW. Spend last weekend at the Beach Club.

Anyways for those on GTY status. I received my room number this evening. At 36 days out! Happy with what I got. Still hoping for a little magic. :wizard:

Can't wait for the cruise. I can't begin to think about when/were to start packing. I might sneak packing in between football, drivers ed, work, and doctor appointments. I don't think I will do the FE, I have too many other things going on in the next few weeks to add to the list.

Last day of school tomorrow and In-laws coming to town this weekend. Never a dull moment.

We received ours Wednesday evening. I can't decide if I am happy with the location yet. We have thought about calling and paying for an upgrade, but the higher categories are not available or are guarantee as well. So we too are waiting for some pixie dust.

Okay, I know it's early, but my nephew is in a pirate play and needed to borrow some of our pirate stuff, which happens to be stored in the suitcase - so, yes, they came out of storage this week, but they are still empty!! Although, it won't be long now!:yay::yay:

Not at all, I was just measuring ours to see what would fit in the "overhead bins"! :lmao::lmao:

Hi everyone,

There are 6 of us traveling together--please include in the meet and greet!

We have a 10 year old daughter and a 12 year old son that are looking for
new friends. It's always nice for them to know someone in their clubs.

Also, we're at the Animal Kingdom lodge for 3 nights before the cruise...if anyone wants to say hello before we sail!

Looking forward,
Alisa (and family)

Hi Alisa. If your daughter is interested in emailing with my 11yo DD, pm me and I'll get you her email address.

I'm also wondering how the head count is going for the FE exchange. I'm just dying to go out and get FE gifts but am unsure of how many and for whom (adults too? just kids?) My homemade no-sew FE is almost done (I'm so proud!). I will post a pic when I finish it :)

No suitcases out yet but I have little piles of items for the trip all over the house!

Hi everyone!!
Sorry I have been away for a while. Between the end of the school year, baseball season, basketball play-offs and cheerleading I have been a little busy:scared1: I know we are all dying to start our shopping for the fish extenders. We currently have 4 families that are participating. I would like to send out a list this Friday so if you are interested in participating and have not PM me your info (Room#, who is cruising i.e DH,DD also the childs age and your DIS name)please do so ASAP. Thanks again! :flower3:

My house is looking the same way!! If I could right now pack I would! The anticipation is killing me:scared1:

The FE count is four families total. Here is the breakdown.

DH-4
DW-4
DD-5
DS-3

Hi guys!
I have been away too long, many reasons, end of year, end of High School (DS graduates on SATURDAY!:cool1:) and my mom, who lives in Arizona, had some health issues that I needed to deal with long distance. I did manage to get all the paperwork done for the cruise on Sunday and get copies of our passports. We are taking a copy with us and then we are loading a JPG file of the passports into DH's phone.

Not sure about FE because I don't know if I have time to make FE's or not (maybe I could just hang a supermarket bag from the thing???), but I think my kids would get such a kick of having "mysterious gifts" appear. Specially since DS turns 18 the day we sail. Maybe you guys can just drop random notes on the fish... In our group we have DS 18, DD 12, DH and moi. I am going to go see my mom next week until thursday and then DS and I will be doing the College Orientation thing June 13-17. Stay tuned...

So what's everyone doing in Cozumel? We still can't decide because DH has decided it's not a good diving spot for begginer DS diving abilities. We have the jeep tour booked right now but it is SOOOOO expensive, so we are considering Playa Mia. You see, we were in Cozumel a few years ago for a whole week so we pretty much have seen the whole island. I do plan to treat my DS 18 to a legal beer at Margaritaville at some point (my plan is to visit all the margaritavilles in our itinerary - yes, I am a parrothead).

I know the girls have been emailing a bit and hopefully they are set with friends. Anyone with kids the same age JOIN THE PARTY!

Hey wwwosie, you've really been busy! We still have school for another month, so things here are just starting to get busy. Because of the snow days here, I'm in school until the 25th of June! :sad2: The closer the cruise gets, the closer I am to being ou of school!! In Cozumel, we're going to do the Cozumel Highlights and Mayan Ruins tour that DCL offers. It's about 4 1/2 hours instead of the 7 hour tour they are offering to the ruins. Still gives us plenty of time to shop, but also gives us a chance to see some of Mexico.
I'm starting to get small piles around the house also, I'm with you,ZDARA1999, I would pack right now if I could! We are pass the 30 day point now, it will be here soon! :cheer2::cheer2:

It takes me HOURS to do that... and that's just for me... my family does their own packing :rotfl2:
I am trying to figure out what to do about DD, she's not coming back with us, she takes a different fly to go see family in Boston. The problem is that my beloved FIL has a hard and fast rule about people not checking baggage when going to Logan because it takes forever (this guy travels all over the world with a carry on). Although she won't need much for where she's going (it's an island of the coast of MA so just shorts, t-shirts and stuff), she obviously can't take anything dirty (and I really don't want to do laundry on this trip), so I am hoping she can choose a few things that I can take with me to Boston when I take DS for College Orientation on June 13th (and leave it with my BIL and his family). But she's not sure what she wants to wear on the cruise (my daughter is such a clothes horse, while I am a jeans and t-shirt kinda person).

And I want to find some cute matching outfits for the four of us for a picture, although I have already been told by the guys "no way we are embarking with matching outfits" we'll have to save it for a different night (I just want a picture!).

I did buy some of that seasafe sunscreen, the bottles are tiny... hope they are effective.

If any of you are going to Chankanab be forwarned that they only allow "biodegradable sunscreen" if you are going swimming in their lagoons.

Back to cleaning house (just to get it trashed by 60 people coming for the grad party on Saturday afternoon! - my house is not big, but we love parties!)

We are scuba diving in Cozumel (hopefully, here are the fingers crossed). We have bought the safe sea in the past, I really cannot whether it worked or did not work. Its hard to tell when no one had a reaction. :confused3 I would buy it again though.

I bought the three of us matching outfits a few years back. DD (8) at the time actually got her father to match her, but he said the dress I wore was awful!! He said sack of potatos awful, so we have a really nice picture of them matching and me in a shirt the same color - not so good. Oh well, I tried. :confused3 I think if DD and I made matching tshirts DH would wear it as long as it was not gawdy (not sure how you spell it).

I am hoping we can participate in the FE. I have not been able to ask our DD if she would like to email, she is actually my step-DD and has been with her mother the last couple of weeks. Hopefully I can find out before Friday.

I think it would be funny to see shopping bags outside the door. You could always bring a stocking, if you have one.

Thanks for the heads up WWWOSIE, we are going to Chankanab and I didnt know about the bio sunscreen! Does anyone know where I can buy it?

Hi all! This is getting SO exciting - I'm loving reading all your tales of pre-packing packing ... I'm doing the same thing, I have piles of stuff sitting here and there.

Since we're spending a few days at OKW before getting on the ship, I need to separate things that we'll use there vs. what we can leave packed until the cruise.

I have all my FE material and stuff - now this weekend I need to try to put it together - YIKES! I'm definitely not a seamstress and not too crafty, so this will be an adventure. DD13 is going to help me - we found some materials and logos that relate to each of us - Mickey; Penn State; performing arts; Jersey shore - so we're going to try to put the whole thing together. (We'll probably end up hanging a shopping bag from the fish - heh heh - this could be a disaster!! I really like the bag idea!)

Hey, ZDARA1999, hopefully you got my PM where I goofed up our info. Must have been multi-tasking that day!

We're down to within a month - yay! - it's gonna be here before you know it. We're carving out some time this weekend to do some cruise shopping - DS's pants for dining room, stuff like that. If nothing else, a cruise is a great excuse to SHOP!!

Hey - my DH reminded me of a tip that I'll share with you all. When we've cruised in the past, we purchased inflatable tubes (from a cheap place like WalMart) for use at Castaway Cay. The larger tubes, not little kiddie ones. They don't take up any room in suitcases, are cheaper than renting them at CC, and avoids the hassle of picking them up when getting to CC. We've been to CC three times in July and it has always been scorching hot - floating in the water there has been heaven. After using the tubes, we just leave them rather than trying to get them home after they have been inflated and wet and sandy.

Just thought I'd share that plan since it has worked well for us in the past. One of my fondest memories from our last cruise was floating around in the water at CC - on a couple of WalMart tubes - chatting with a lady that I met right here!!

That inflatable tube idea is great!! I think we will do that for DD as well. Thank you for sharing it.

We are also going down a few days early, but just for beach days.

LadyLion:

Where are you from? Swarthmore, PA here... party of 8 on 6/27 magic

Hi everyone!!! :cool1: I do have one question. Our boys feel they should take a pair of jeans with them. Is the normal attire for teen boys to be in dress pants and casual pants and not jeans any nights. We are travelling such a distance I don't want to take something they have no use for but I don't want them being the only teens without their favorite jeans. I figured all you experienced cruisers could help me out. I am the Mom that makes them wear chinos and they walk in to a function to find everyone is wearing jeans and I hear...........Thanks Mom. Trying to avoid that one.
