June 27, 2007 10 Night - The Rodney Dangerfield of Med Cruises

Hey TDC Nala are you still going to DLP?

Did you book though DCL or on your own?

I just got a PDF file with all the excursions. All 115 excursions!

If anyone wants it I will forward it to you. Just sned me an e-mail or PM.

I'm not TDCNala, but I'm rooming with her this trip.
We are still going to DLP before the cruise and she booked the room via DVC -- 6/23 - 6/26 at Sequoia Lodge.

While we are already booked, I'm still on DCL's "interest list" for the pre-cruise DLP package since I was wondering if they'd finally give a DLP-port transportation option. Currently they're saying guests must arrange their own ground transportation, though, and our plan is Elipsos Trenhotel overnight on the 26th from Paris to Barcelona. I can't book that until the 90 day mark, though.

Did you book your flights yet? I ended up booking open jaw PVD-CDG (via PHL) and BCN-PVD (again via PHL) on USAirways so I wouldn't have to arrange transport out to Logan.

DCL is not going to do transportation, I will either fly easyjet very inexpensive but only 1 bag per person & it must weigh less then 42lbs or Iberia both of these airlines fly out of ORY instead of CDG & are reasonably priced.

No I am trying to get a deal out of AMEX and they are still negotiating contracts with airlines!
I will book before my Feb vacation so far the best deal for me is flying Boston to London on virgin Atlantic for free using my rewards points.

What are you doing with all the cruise luggage!:confused3

We are flying into Barcelona a week before the cruise and driving to Provence, France. I want to ditch the cruise luggage so we can get a small car w/ reasonable rental rate. If I have to haul all the baggage I have to get a minivan which , depending on the make/model can cost as much as $1300 for a week.:scared1:

Yeah the last time I was in Europe it was only the wife & I:love:(Only had 2 kids back then & left them with the neighbors! (boy were they pissed!):lmao:) and we had an opel station Wagon & 2 hardsided huge bags that basicaly tookup the whole rear of the car!
That is why we travel with softsided duffel type bags now!:rotfl2:

With 6 of us we usually travel with 3 bags but their big! Therefore my Easyjet problems, I have to weigh the bags!:teacher: I am trying to convert my wife to the Rick Steves travel methods (travel light):headache: I also have a tendency to use hotel & DCL cleaning services, this is expensive but anything I can do to lighten the load!:rotfl:

We will be traveling to DLP before the cruise I have reserved 2 Castle Club rooms at the DLH:cool1: now I just have to arrange traveling from London to Paris to Barcelona & back to London with 4 Kids.:dance3:

My booking is through DVC, Sequoia Lodge 6/23 - 6/26. Planning to take the overnight train to Barcelona.

Oops, my roomie already answered that.

Do we still want Rodney Dangerfield tee shirts? Time for me to work on him, it's 2007 now.

Maybe we will bump into you at DLP! Im pretty sure that I am going to take Easyjet from ORY to Barcelona on the 25th about 69 Euros each not bad!
I will leave T-Shirt Decisions up to you as all original parties seem to have abondaned ship!:lmao:

We have been discussing this on the other Med thread, the Disney Rewards Visa and all Chase Visa cards for that matter will get charged an International transaction Fee: 3% of the U.S. dollar amount of the transaction, whether originally made in U.S. dollars or converted from a foreign currency.

This fee can add up if your charging thousands of dollars while in Europe. :scared1: :headache:

Even AMEX cards are subject to a fee for international use according to some of the posts.:headache:

The only card I have found that does not have such a fee is Capitol One.:goodvibes

OK all you SLACKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have now booked my airfare to Paris & back from Barcelona on Air France :woohoo: I burnt alot of Amex points to bring the fare down but have a non-stop to Paris & DLP and a 1 stop return to Boston from Barcelona.

I also booked a one-way from Paris ORY to Barcelona on EasyJet! (Oh used my Capital One card for this as it is in Euro's will check fees!)

Let the Magic :wizard: Countdown begin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See you on the Magic:scared1:

I am not sure the fees will be obvious, sometimes they just add them to the exchange rate. If you don't see separate fees, still check the exchange rate to a good source on the Internet (you can try oanda.com).

I have been browsing other med threads :surfweb: and came across this link to 1st Magical Med T-shirts: https://www.cafepress.com/firstmedcruise :cool1:

The gentleman that designed this is Ken :cheer2: and he is willing to change the sailing dates to the June 27 to July 7, 2007 so we could have them for the cruise. :goodvibes His group have already ordered and received some of them and are very happy with the shirts. ;)

I read that initally the first design he made had some Disney references that did not go over well with Disney. :confused3 So, he had to redo the design but I think it is pretty neat and better than those member cruise t-shirts DVC was selling for $20 or so two years ago on the 2005 DVC members cruise. :sad2:

Anyone interested in pursuing this let me know and once the design is set up on CafeExpress I will send or post the link?

It took me a bit to get the link to work, but I love the design and the variety that is available! I would definitely order some things.

P.S. For those of you worried about ordering for on the Internet from unknown vendors, Discover card has a "Discover Deskshop" that you can download from their site. Then you sign in to it when you need it and it will prefill all the data on forms (very efficient!) and the best part is that you can get it to assign a "one time vendor" card number. You can reuse this card number over and over at that vendor, but it can only be used at that vendor. So you don't have to worry about it getting stolen and used all over the place.

Here is a sample of what our shirt would look like:
http://www.cafepress.com/june27medcruise

He modified it from his groups shirt.

We can change the title on the top but it has to look right. It could say "The Slackers Magical Med Cruise" or The Disboard Magical Med Cruise" :confused3

Need some feed back folks!! popcorn::

I think the T-shirts are cool! But is there any reason they are only in white? (For some reason, my daughter strongly prefers gray or green.)

I'd probably buy 4, one for each family member.

The store was opened for feedback on the design. I have added some color shirts.
