June 26, 2011 5 Nights on the Disney Dream!!!!

Just got a notice in the mail today that Disney Dream will be hosting three performances a night in the Walt Disney Theatre. Each family is assigned an evening to attend. Ours is the first night at 5pm. Anyone think this is not a great time?? Isn't there something the first night by the pool with the characters?? I don't have a travel agent so I'm relying on my DISers to give me advice!!!:thumbsup2

Hi, what you got is the time you can go to the shows every night. They have different shows on different nights and on the Magic and Wonder they had two shows, one early for people with second seating at dinner and one after dinner for those with Main dining. On the Dream they are going to have 3 shows and they are assigning what time you can attend. You were assigned 5 PM, which in my mind is perfect if you have second seating dinner...enough time to see the show, then go back, get ready for dinner and still have time for a drink before dinner in one of the lounges if you are so inclined. I need to get my TA to find out what show time we've been given.

I wonder if these show times are going to more of a guideline than an actual rule? Will DCL be checking IDs at the theatre? There were a few times over the years we have gone to the show during our usual dinner time, especially with early dining and a late Palo res. instead.

I don't have an answer to that, just know what my TA told me the times meant. My guess? Guidelines, just like they are now....you have an ''assigned'' show time now on the Wonder and Magic. It would seem to me that it would be a logistical nightmare to check every person entering the theater...and what about that couple that has Palo or Remy reservations? They can't go to the show that day? :confused3

I'm gonna bet its just like on the M/W---but you can pretty much go when you want to. Guess we will have to see what happens.

Someone on another page mentioned that they will be checking ids and they will have a stand by line for those that want to enter a different show time. Now, we won't know if this is true until the 1st sailing. I can only imagine the nightmare this will cause but I understand the reason. They could easily color code your key of the world card to your show time. Many other cruiselines do this as well. So, the concept is not new to the cruising industry. It is gonna be hard to get use to the size of this ship. More people will definitely mean more controlled lines.

Thanks for the info - DCL seems to offer the same thing. For some reason I thought their excursion did not include the aquarium. Well, we have until March to decide. Blue Lagoon Island looked pretty nice too.

After reading all the talk about the staggered show times on the Dream I checked out our reservation and we have 7PM show, 8:30 dinner - perfect!

Hope all is well with everyone. Been very busy September here but starting to slow down finally - just in time for the holiday rush :headache:.

I like the idea of Blue Lagoon too. We were thinking of doing the dolphin encounter but that is mostly for me. My 6 year old probably wouldn't want to sit through the entire lecture for only 20-30 minutes with the dolphins in the end. Besides, since we got to do a little of the Atlantis Aquaventure excursion last time we know what to expect this time and can probably navigate it a little easier. So we are just going to stick with that again and save the dolphins for a future cruise.

We also have the 7pm showing and 8:30 dining!:thumbsup2 I'm hoping the dining is not too late for my DS. Technically it will be 7:30 our time so maybe it won't be so bad. :confused3

Our letter said that we could "request" to do the 5pm showing. So maybe that's the alternate choice. :confused3

I read that this how the other cruise lines control the show crowds/lines.

If anyone is interested, it looks like Disney will be offering Individual Enrollment for their YES programs in June 2011. For those unfamiliar, the YES Program stands for Youth Education System. These are classes offered in the various parks about a variety of topics. My daughter an I participated in one this past July at Animal Kingdom and it was AMAZING! We had a GREAT time! The upside to doing these programs is you can purchase park tickets at a DEEPLY DISCOUNTED PRICE! For 2010, a 5 day Park Hopper pass with 5 visits to the water parks and/or Disney Quest was around $175. The rumor is in 2011, they may have resort room deals as well. Right now, you can't book any of the classes until November 15 but here is the link if you want to check it out!

I hope this info helps someone! I know I will be definitely doing this!

Sorry I have been so absent lately. I have been extremely busy! I promise to update the FE list soon!

Bet they give you tickets for the shows like for excursions and your meals. If they do you probably wouldn't have a problem finding someone to swap!

Thanks for sharing this info....

So I am I understanding correctly - You received 5 day access to parks AND 5 day access to DQ & waterparks for that price? What's the catch - LOL. It almost sounds too good to be true. Do you have to be a homeschooling parent to participate?

Got my flights booked and my car rentals sorted yesterday :yay:. I am a bit lighter in the pocketbook this morning.

Looks like something I'd be interested in for my boys! When you click however it looks like it's for groups. Any more info on individual registration?

This past July, we got the 4 day park hopper tickets- I think it was about $150. I used the above mentioned just as an example. But from how I read the info, you get X amount of days, depending on the ticket length and X amount of visits to the water parks and Disney Quest. For the individual enrollment in June 2011, you do not have to be a homeschooler- just go to the site and sign up!
We haven't purchased our airline tickets yet- waiting for Southwest to release their prices to see what deals we can get!

The rumor is you can purchase the individual enrollment packages on November 15th! I received an email about this today! I will post it in a bit. I tried to sign up but the dates for June weren't available yet. The prices are up from last year- 4 day premium park hopper with waterpark was listed for $175. I think we are going to do the animation class in DHS!

Here is the email I received today about the youth programs:

Our family is really starting to get excited about this cruise. It will sure help us get throught the long winter ahead.
I am looking forward to hearing how the back 2 back's will work on the Dream. Hopefully there will be some early reports about that. Is anyone else doing a B2B?

Ami
