June 22 Magic (Western)

It won't be long now!!! I bet we get our documents next week. Hi to everyone and hope all is well, keep in touch.....

Cam,

Thanks for the info on Stingray city. I am thinking booking this on our own is the way to go. I am not interested in doing turtle
farm, or He** trip. The seven mile beach and shopping is already on the list of things to do.
Carlos n Charlies web site has coupons to print out for free nachos or reebs as they spell them. Have you eaten there?
Spent two hours sufing Saturday and now have a better idea
of how to spend our time in the ports.

Yvonne

Thanks, Yvonne, for the information re: carlos n charlies coupons. We did not go there last time--looked like a very wild place. Have heard some stories.
In case anyone needs the website for captain marvin's, here it is:

http://www.captainmarvins.com/

Tip for the day: write your last name and cabin number on your rolls of film, with permanent marker. Some people even suggest home phone #--depends on how small you can write, I guess. number the rolls and use them in sequential order--this makes organizing them later so much easier! We always carried a new roll with us and kept extras in the over the door shoe holder for easy grabs.
:)

Good afternoon, everyone!!!
Just had to bump this to the top! Don't want the 6/22 cruisers to look unenthusiastic--my goodness, some later cruise date threads have HUNDREDS of posts.
Guess we are all busy packing and/or daydreaming:)

Then again, maybe some of us are actually working!

I was just fantasizing about coffee on deck in the early morning :p when I realized that I can actually do that in the early early morning in my pajamas -- on our verandah!!!!:D

I don't have to go to deck 9 (?) for coffee either! :D

Oh, my goodness, we don't have to worry about kids' curfews or someone (whose name shall not be mentioned ;) ) ordering macaroni and cheese at every meal !

The fantasy gets better and better and "realer and realer" every day:cool: :D :) :p :smooth:

My whole family can relate to what you're saying. Every day we talk about the cruise for at least half an hour. I think I'm more excited about this cruise than the last cruise because I know some people that are going on this cruise! We still can't decide what excursions to do. Counting down the days...

~Nicole~

Hi, Nicole--
I have enjoyed your posts. I am glad you are all having so much fun planning and anticipating. I just wanted to tell you that my DD13 loved the Magic 5/26 7 day eastern. She isn't going this trip, which is unfortunate because there seem to be many fabulous young people going. She really enjoyed meeting Rianna last year and there was a group of about 8 12 and 13 yr olds that all hung out together. They loved common grounds, quartermasters, the pool, going to late night movies, and watching tv in our cabin, drinking sodas and munching on the snacks we brought. You will meet lots of new friends and you will have a great time too! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hi everyone, busy day at work, yes, I was actually working:mad: I am now home and listening to it rain outside. Better to be raining at home and not on vacation!! Picked up a few more things Sunday for the cruise, film, video film, sunscreen:smooth: just to mention a few. Have that list on the refrigerator and keep crossing things off weekly. Hope all is well with all of you and keep the posting going!!!

Hi Everyone,

Yes, busy at work and not much time to read the boards until the weekend.
I too am dreaming about that cup of coffee on the verandah.
Of course we probably won't want anything but one from then on.
Anyone in our group Disney Vacation Club members?
I need to start getting things on a list like Roberta. Last time we went I would have loved to have binoculars along will pack them this time. Any other must haves that everyone takes along?

Yvonne

Yvonne, Caroline & Mike aren't on the boards much, but they are DVC members, they joined last year when we met them on the last cruise. They are from Georgia and will be staying at the Radisson with us. We have a small pair of binoculars and are already in a duffle bag. Ziplock bags to take room service cookies etc...with you on the islands. A small soft-sided cooler to fill with ice and beer/soda in the room. Highlighters to mark what you want to do on the Navigators. We bring a plug strip to be able to plug more than one charger for the video camera batteries. A small digital clock that lights up so you can see what time it is in the room, no clocks anywhere. Hangers, never enough in the room. Lanyards to put your room key in and hang around your neck, very convenient. Can buy them on the ship too. Sunglasses!!!Over the door Shoehanger with all those pockets to put all the things that there just isn't enough room for in the bathroom/room. Batteries/Walkie Talkies. Shout Wipes for those spills. I could go on and on. Just keep putting things in a bag that you know you will be using to pack things in and make those lists, never enough lists to make sure of everything. Do I sound like a nut? I am so anal about packing.

Roberta--Your packing list sounds even better than mine!
Yvonne--Joe and Laura are also DVC members. Would love to hear about how many points it takes to do the 7 day magic. Trying to talk myself and my husband into buying into DVC and wondering whether it is worth it!

Roberta thanks for al l the packing tips. Also for the DVC member info. Do we know what day they will be doing cocktails for DVC members? We met some really great people on last cruise during that time.

Cam, we have been DVC members since 1995 and have not regretted one minute of it. We usually spend our points at WDW or Hilton Head. We have used points for cruise but it is not the best use of your points. We figuire we have the points so why not use them for the cruise too. You might want to attend DVC talk on board ship. It is the most low key sales pitch I have ever attended. When we bought in '95 we came home and called them about a month later to purchase. Since then we have also bought a resale from independent broker.

Downloaded midi file Margaritaville just to get us more in the mood today at work. Not much longer to wait.

Yvonne

Could it be? We are only 44 days (or less) away from departure for our cruise aboard the Disney Magic? We are hoping to receive cruise documents next week. The excitement is building.

We still need to decide where we are going to have dinner in Key West.... looking at several different options at this point. Some restaurants will take phone reservations 30 days in advance. Keep this in mind.

Thanks for all the great packing tips. Roberta - I received my Magellan's catalog today in the mail (Summer '02). There are a lot of great items in it.

Have a great day everyone!

Howard

Hi everyone, how is it going? Still waiting for those documents!! Hope all is well with everyone and can't wait for this trip to get here. What is everyone thinking about in reference to the cruise? The verandah in the morning sounds great. Laying in the sun seeing it is raining here again!!! What are your thoughts?

Cam, Got the green ribbon today. Thanks again for sending. What is the Magellan catalog? I haven't heard of that one.
It is getting humid here already so guess we will be in good shape for cruise weather. :smooth:

Yvonne, the website is www.magellans.com It is a travel accessory website. I also found some neat stuff on llbean.com under their travel accessories. They have a documents holder. I have the llbean fannypack and I love it. Not sure how these items compare to things in the mall travel stores. I need to make a trip to the mall again especially it has been raining so much here.

We got our green ribbons too--thanks!!!Now if our documenta would just come.

I simply cannot remember from last year. Do the documents arrive by federal express? do you have to be there to sign for them?

My favorite memory today is walking around all day in a bathing suit and coverup dress or in shorts and teeshirt. guess the whole suit and heels thing is getting very old

Beth and Yvonne--you are welcome for the ribbons. if anyone else wants them let me know (and I have about 200 small safety pins, which I will never be able to use in all my days!)

Hard to believe that exactly 6 weeks from right now Howard and I will be in Orlando--the thought sustains me :)
The only problem is that that means I have LESS than 6 weeks to clean my house before my MIL comes to take care of our kids  I can only deal with one dilemma at a time, though. Just found out I have to find somewhere to board our baby over memorial day weekend:( since our breeder no longer boards dogs because of complaints by his neighbors  Waiting to hear if the groomer has any ideas. Thank God we won't have to worry about her while we are basking in the caribbean sun
Have a great day everyone!

What am I thinking? As I work myself to the bone trying to get the month closed( I am am accountant) I am dreaming of that first Pina Colada. I can't wait until the most stressing question of the day is what drink to have? We haven't recieved our ribbons yet but Florida seems to have snail mail. But thanks in advance. I think I am going to go out shopping tomorrow for my formal clothes. It should be interesting. Believe it or not I am not a shopper. We also need some new luggage. After 16 years of the Air Force ours is shot. Roger was in ten years before that. So we could use a new set.

The weather here is beautiful and we are working on our tans. We will test out the Pina Colada recipe mothers day. That's what my friends and I do for Mothers Day, float in the pool with PC"S and the men and kids do all the cooking. I do a little of the prep work but they do all the grilling and cleaning. It's much better than fighting the crowds at all the good restaurants.

Have a great weekend and Happy Mothers day to all you Mothers out there?

Only Six more weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms on June 22 cruise. Maybe documents will come next week. That would be a great Mother's Day gift!!!

:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: Hello again everyone! It must be friday, or else I wouldn't have time to return to these very helpfull 'Dis cruise boards. It's nice to see that some others are staying at WDW before the cruise, but be prepared---IT IS HOT!!!!!!!! I only live about an hour and a half away(from WDW) and it has been in the 90's for the last week and we have had no rain to cool things off for at least 3 to 4 weeks!!!!We should be alot cooler on the cruise though, out over the water. I have gotten some great packing tips off the last page or two, so thanks to everyone. Now if only I can get my wife to read and FOLLOW these tips that you nice folkes have posted, hmmmm..... . Yes, room service coffee in the morning sounds great! We did that at least three times on our previous 4_day 'Dis cruise, back in 1999--(our 20th Wedd Aniv.). We also had some very nice tablemates from the U.K., they practically had ME speaking the " KINGS ENGLISH" by the time the cruise was over!! We went to "Studio Sea" every night and we had a BLAST!!!!!!!!!!! The 'Brits would join us as well, and the father and I spent much of the time trying to out spend (buy) the other one buying drinks!! I had the bar bill to prove it!!!!He did too, I'm sure!! It sure is great to remember the small things, isn't it? See YAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
