June 22, 2013 FANTASY 7 night western cruise *UPDATE FE signup

Emma,

Thanks for the passporter site. Lots of good information there.

476 days to go, according to my Ship Mate app! whee!

We made a quick trip to Disneyland last weekend with some friends. It was soooo crowded, but.. Disneyland at all is still good! Sadly I was a little underwhelmed with the new Little Mermaid ride after all the hype it's gotten. My girls would have loved it when they were little, though.

I was reading the thread about Mariah Carey being godmother for the Fantasy. Some people were pretty worked up and had nothing good to say about her or about her being the godmother. To show how up-to-date I am I had to google her as I am not familiar with her at all.

Maybe someone here can explain all of the negativity. One poster even suggested they would cancel their Fantasy reservation. I don't understand but then perhaps I am just out of touch.

There was a post over on cruise critic where someone had a link to photos they took while on the ship on Thursday (I think it was Thursday). Really looks nice.

OK, SO I have a question for the board? Do I add the childrens ages for the age they are as of now, or what they will be on the cruise. because i have totally confused myself. :hippie:

kimsue, I would suggest ages when they cruise but probably not a big deal either way. Our grandson Nathan is 7 now and will be 8 1/2 when we cruise. Thanks for trying to keep us on track here. Undoubtedly more activity as the cruise date nears.

I always plan far ahead and have started looking at hotels for our pre-cruise stay. I know I can't make reservations now but want to get rooms as soon as available since I'll be using Hilton or Starwood points.

We just got off the Wonder and booked this cruise on board. Can't wait! Will be me, DH, DS (8) and DD (5).

Christy

Christy, welcome to little group which I am sure will get larger as time goes on. I am David and my wife and I are taking our youngest daughter, her husband and our 7 year old grandson on this cruise for our daughter's 40th birthday. We have cruised before (Carnival and Royal Caribbean) but this is our first on Disney. I have enjoyed reading the posts here to help learn about the Disney cruises and the Fantasy.

Too bad we still have so long before the cruise. Trust you had nice time on the Wonder.

Our older daughter and her husband have decided to join the cruise. All I need now is for our son and his family to come and we'll have a family reunion!

This time next year... we'll be onboard the Fantasy!! :woohoo: I was looking at shore excursions today during my lunch break.... Cozumel, Costa Maya, Gran Cayman.... so much to plan! Has anyone else thought about excursions yet?

We are booked!!! Now we just have to wait forever!!

Cruising is me (Patti), husband (Ben), daughters (Kirsten will be 15 on cruise), and Morgan (will be 17 on cruise) and my parents. I am sure they will be checking in soon also.

This is the 3rd cruise for my husband and me, and the second for our girls. We surprised them in 2011 with a 5 day double dip on the Dream and they are hooked. We are cruising in June of 2013 to get it the trip in before our oldest turns 18 so she can do the Vibe one more time.

We are booked in a 9D room because we had this same room on the Dream and it was huge.

500+ days is going to be a long wait to get back on a Disney Ship.

Hi Patti!

We are booked on this cruise as well and my daughter will be 15 at the time of the cruise! I'm sure our daughters will be able to meet up at the teen club. My daughter still keeps in touch with the people she met on the past 2 cruises!

Yea I was a little confused my self :goodvibes

At the time of the cruise my children will be:

DD (15)
DS (13)
DS (11)

Again, this will be our 4th cruise with Disney and the LONGEST cruise yet. I am actually a little nervous about being on a boat for 7 days. Last cruise we did the 5 day and I was good with that. The 3 day was too fast. The 4 day was nice. Seven days is a lot :thumbsup2

We have decided to stay a couple of nights before the cruise at the DoubleTree in Cocao Beach. We haven't yet decided whether to drive (from St. Louis) or fly. Our daughters from Chicago will definitely fly. I have lots of miles on American so it would cheap but we love to drive and do some sightseeing along the way. It would probably take 3 days; we'll decide soon as we can make our frequent flyer reservations 333 days prior to the latest flight so that will be in late July.

Hi everyone!

51 weeks to go :goodvibes

We're starting to think about next year's trip, as our DVC home resort window will open up next month!
The plan at the moment is... 2 nights at WDW before the cruise (at Boardwalk Villas, possibly changing resort at 7 month window, not sure yet) - and after the cruise, we might be going to California! :woohoo: Looking into 2 nights at Anaheim & 4 nights in West Hollywood. We've never been to the West Coast of the USA before, so excited to start planning it all.

Just off the Fantasy Saturday. Booked this cruise on board. It will be our 20th anniversary, and our 5th Disney cruise (going for gold!).

We have me, DW, DS16 and DD13. Stateroom 5052, which we were told is the largest veranda on the ship (I'd think some of the suites have larger ones, though). We stayed in 5150 for the last one, which is also a huge veranda.

We just got back last night and don't have pictures downloaded, etc. I'm thinking about doing my first ever trip report, because it was just THAT good. It was also a western, so I'll try to answer questions if possible.

Seems like there will be a lot of us with teens on this cruise. Do any of you have any interest in having the kids "meet" beforehand, so they have company on the cruise? I was thinking I could set up a Facebook event that they could all join or something similar. My daughter really enjoyed it last summer when she had "met" a friend before the cruise, they did a lot together on the ship. My kids will be dd17 and ds14. Plus my ds3.

Or, you could have your teen PM me on here (through you) and I'll have my kids respond, if that is more comfortable for everyone.

As for excursions, I'm not really sure what we'll be doing since we'll have a 3yo to entertain. We might have to split up as a family and have the teens do something different than a parent/toddler. And I'm hoping to snag a cabana on Castaway Cay.

For the 6/23 cruise, a Facebook group was created for the cruise and a separate one was created for the kids. I'm not on Facebook, so I had to continually ask for information to be shared on the Dis. My DS15, however, is on Facebook and was part of both groups. He said most of the kids were Edge age, but he was able to meet some of the older kids in Vibe during the cruise.

We got very lucky and got a cabana a week before the cruise. Someone in concierge cancelled the cruise at the last minute. We had two people in our FE group that upgraded to concierge at the port. There was also a big DVC discount for our cruise because it wasn't selling.

We did the Grand Cayman tour that included the turtle farm and the Chacchoben Mayan ruins tour in Costa Maya. We enjoyed both, but won't be doing them again. They just aren't the kind of thing we think would be better a second time around.

Any other questions, I'm here all week. Try the veal...

This will be our very first cruise. It will be me and my three kids, who will be 13, 12, and 9.

It took a long time to make the decision to book this cruise because I wasn't sure about taking the kids just by myself. Would I have fun and enjoy myself with no other adult company? I know my kids will have tons of fun and it would be unreasonable to expect the kids to be with me 100% of the time.

But I booked it and am soooo excited! I can't wait and have been scouring the web for tips and advice. So glad I found this one.

We just got back from the Dream, booked our first cruise on the Fantasy for June 22, 2013!! I am so stoked! It will be me (Jan), hubby Mike and DS who will be 13 at the time we sail! He is kind of shy so I would LOVE to actually have him "meet" and talk with another young man around his age. He loves to play basketball and such-- he actually loves all the stuff like the detective agency things, the little putt-putt and stuff like that.

This will be our 7th cruise. We have sailed the Magic, Wonder and the Dream and will actually be going on our 6th cruise before this one. The hubby and I - without the kids!!(gasp) are doing the DVC members cruise in January. I am super stoked!!

Can't wait to get to know you guys!

Glad you booked! I am sure your kids will have a blast and you will have a great time as well...

I also wanted to give you a big hug... :-( I am sorry your DH will not be there with you...
