Awesome! What are you most looking forward to at Disneyland? My husband, our 4 kids and I are going June 24th to 26th. We've been to Disney World, but never Disneyland.
I think you'll love the Disneyland Hotel, it's not really like anything at WDW, but it has its own historical Disney charm. If you're exploring the hotel, check out the displays they have in the Fantasy tower...lots of cool Disney memorabilia! Also the Frontier Tower has a miniature version of Big Thunder that is pretty awesome. I love the grounds and just relaxing by the pool. It feels so tropical! We will be there June 11-15. I was able to snag a DVC room at the Disneyland Hotel. My family has never been; I was there for a day in 1984.
I have been going to DW since it opened in 1971 so planning a Disneyland trip seems very disorienting.
Good point about PtN! I saw that LKing posted this recently in another thread (schedule for May 16, start of 70th):Getting pride tickets was such a breeze! Haven’t seen anyone state it but paint is at 845 and 1045 starting May 16 and I imagine it’ll stay that way. I will probably forego reservations to save money. Lamplight losing the nachos (and them being of lesser quality lately) has pushed me away. There’s plenty of other fun meals to be had.
What are you thinking about for the rest/recovery days?So far we have:
Saturday, arrival day - Naples Ristorante - Downtown Disney - taking it slow.
Sunday, DLR - Reservations at Cafe Orleans Dinner. Our son also has Savi Lightsaber build that day.
Monday, rest day - no plans/reservations just yet.
Tuesday, DCA - trying to get WoC tickets, but it keeps "Ducking Out" on me. :/ Dang it!
Wednesday, Pride! Night (At DLR) - No reservations at this time.
Thursday, Recovery!!! We're midwesterners so that time difference is gonna hurt!
Friday, DCA - no reservations at this time - also moving hotels to be at airport for a 6:30am flight.
Saturday - back home.
Any suggestions you want to make, I'm all ears! Disney California is a whole new ballgame to us!
Kiddo isn't much of a thrill rider, and you're right, it wouldn't be much of a down day. One of those days, I'd like to walk around the Disney resorts themselves, especially Pixar Place. Probably just enjoy the pool at the hotel, depending on how bad Sunday is at DLR!What are you thinking about for the rest/recovery days?
Griffith Park isn't too far and would definitely be a cool visit if you've never been. In addition to being a lovely place in general, it's where Walt came up with the idea of Disneyland (at their merry-go-round). I was also going to suggest Knott's if you like thrill rides, but going to another theme park isn't necessarily a rest!![]()

Have you seen BrianL's comparison of DLR and WDW attractions? But in general just doing the stuff that isn't at Disney World
Sounds like a fun trip. I hope you get the reservations you want!So excited to be back at DLR from June 29th to July 1st. We (myself, husband and 2 sons 11, 9) are travelling to the US from Australia for a medical conference in Denver, and couldn’t possibly miss a chance to share in all of the 70th Anniversary fun. We were fortunate enough to spend last Christmas in the parks, and are looking forward to warmer temperatures. Staying at Camelot this time, and will be looking to snag Blue Bayou, WoC Dessert Party, and Goofy’s Kitchen reservations.
Solo trips are so fun! Hope you have a blastOopsie! I did it again!
June 13-17. Hojo!

Is it crazy of me to wonder if I can 845 paint, 930 wondrous, 1015 world, and then 1045 paint? I’m just not sure how much of the 1045 paint I’ll catch since it’s starting on this side.Good point about PtN! I saw that LKing posted this recently in another thread (schedule for May 16, start of 70th):
