I know it's early right now, but maybe we can help each other as rates start to (hopefully) come down.

6/8 - 6/18 - best I've seen is about $850.00

IMO I don't believe it will go down, this is peak summer season for Orlando.. I would recommend looking at other options such as using WDW transportation (if staying on-site) or other methods of transportation (Hotel shuttles/Uber/Lyft/Mears shuttles/etc.).. For airport transportation checkout the new Mears Connect service..

Excellent advice, but we are staying at OKW & then driving to Vero. A car is, unfortunately, necessary.

I have a whole bunch of bookings with Costco but the lowest I have right now is $439 for an intermediate car from 6/10-6/18 with Budget.

I will be arriving May 29, leaving in early June. Wow, $439 is considered good now? Just a few years ago, I was always able to get a mid-size rental for under $200/week. Is the increase due to the ongoing chip shortages for new cars? Of course, we are still six months out; the sweet spot is usually 6-8 weeks prior to your travel date.

I'm not sure what the cause is but it is absolutely bonkers what the prices are now! I'm watching frequently and hoping they come down but so far they only keep slowly creeping up. I have reservations I made months ago for a longer period of time (plans changed a bit) that was over $100 less than what I have now.

Just for kicks, I thought I'd look at the Costco rate (as they historically have great rental prices). $549.10 for an Intermediate car for a week (May 29 to June 5)! Oh my. Fingers crossed that starts coming down!
