June 2007 Rate/Code Watch

I can not seem to manage to ever fit everything in. I've been trying very hard to get DH to stay longer so we can have a couple of days "off" but he's not budging!

Hi JJ,

I don't have my AP yet so I can't check. When I get it, I'll sign up for a day to call.

:)

Thanks. I did call today - nothing. I had them also check AAA rates (not a member) they only had POR or AKL. AKL is more than a 2 brm at OKW so I'm staying put for now.

Also for kicks I asked if their was any "special" code attached to my name. Of course, nothing there either since they know I'm coming either way.;)

Regarding the airfare, if it goes on sale anytime before you travel & you haven't changed anything in the trip, you can get a voucher for the difference. I have two vouchers so far through united totalling $100 each ticket (4)!

Nothing has been done on the Passholder site. You would like they would at least remove the dates that have passed already.:rolleyes1

Good morning folks!

I just did the website, Mousesavers, and phone call to CRO...nothing yet :sad1:

Going June 23rd-June 28th using AAA discount...Still waiting for AP discount....I think it will happen....Never had one during President's week before until this past year...and then received an email for those who had AP's...We were able to change our reservations with the AP discount...So...it could happen...:yay:

7:05am I didn't get the most helpful CM  she said no AP codes have been released but she didn't check her system either.

I'm booked at POP for 6/6 to 6/8 and AKL for 6/8 to 6/10 at rack rate. I've been waiting for the AP, but also have AAA. I've tried several times to get the AAA rate and have been told nothing is available. Yesterday when I called, the CM said AAA rates were not available in June. I made a comment about how it seemed everyone on the Disboards, but me, could get them and he went on a tyraid about how noone on the Disboards could be trusted :) Guess I need to try again today.

2PrincessMom - while that CM was "goofy", if there aren't AAA rates for your particular dates and room categories now - they aren't likely to become available. From my own experience last summer and booking for this summer, it seems like once those AAA rates are gone - that's pretty much it. They are probably already gone (maybe that's what the CM meant?) and even if someone cancels, their rooms may but probably will not go back to a room available with a AAA discount. If you can be flexible at all - you might try a different room category (std vs preferred at POP, several categories at AKL) or are your dates even a little flexible? I was able to get 10 nights at POR last week in a std (I wanted water view but that was gone) but only after moving the dates out by one night, however I already had a week booked at AAA, I was just adding a few nights. The CM checked for me and the only other AAA rates for a mod avail were at CBR; CSR and POFQ were sold out.

Good luck :)

LadyTrampScamp&Angel - Thanks for the suggestions! I might try changing the dates or at least try another value for the first two days. My DD (13) decided a few months ago that she wanted to go on this trip. She then started working odd jobs to pay for a room at AKL (we've never stayed there). We're very much looking forward to it, even if there's no room discount. Hope you have a magical time!

Sometimes I think the cm's don't have a clue. I've had several tell me that Disney has never offered military rates. Well, I know they do because I've booked using that discount several times over the last few years.;)

That's a good idea too, POP is popular :) being the newest value, you might get a discount at another one. I've stayed at ASMo's a couple of times and it's very cute, and they are finishing up a refurb at ASMu - the photos of the new rooms look nice http://allearsnet.com/acc/g_asmu.htm , check out the "new" pictures of the Jazz Inn rooms. Perhaps you know all that already? Another good thing about the All Stars, I will swear they are less crowded feeling than POP (I've stayed there too), if I recall correctly the buildings are 4 stories at POP and 3 and the All Stars, seems to me more people to crowd the common areas!

Oh, that is so sweet! I hope you guys have a wonderful time. We have stayed at the AKL too and think it is truly magical. Again, try different categories. I don't know what you've got booked but if an ungraded room has a AAA discount and you are paying rack, you might get the upgrade for the same or not much more?

I'll wish for some pixie dust for you! And for us! I'd actually like to end our stay with a few nights at a deluxe but not sure I will unless something better than AAA comes out (like that AP discount)!

That's funny because I have an AKL standard room booked AAA for June 6th through the 14th. Maybe it is available only for standard rooms? What type of room were you trying to book?

Standard, too. Maybe it's the check-in date? I booked sometime ago, too, and have been checking frequently. I'm glad you were able to get the rate, though!

Do you call Disney direct to book an AAA rate or do you call AAA? Do you have to give proof that you are a member or can you just show proof when you get there?

I made my reservation using the Disney reservation phone line in August of 2006 and I did not have a AAA card then. They asked for the number and I told them that I would join and have the card prior to check in. They wanted me to call "as soon as possible" with the number. I joined after the first of the year and gave them the number then. You are supposed to show the card at check in.

I am glad that at least I got the AAA rate, however, I was hoping for some sort of code that I would be able to apply.

I've been reading some real horror stories about the construction at AKL. It is really making me nervous. We are considering changing hotels, but haven't decided.
