June 18, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

JNS - Thanks again for keeping and updating the FE list. One last thing I thought of - on our last cruise we split the list into three parts and assigned a range of days for each part. For example: cabins 5010, 8639 & 7208 (making these up) were assigned to deliver gifts from June 16 through June 18, then 3 or 4 more cabins got June 19 through June 21 and so on. You just picked a day in your date range to deliver the gifts.

That way, the gifts were spaced out over the course of the cruise. Otherwise, everyone tends to hand out gifts the first day or two.

Does that make sense? If it's too much work, I totally understand. Just wanted to float the idea out there.

think this is a great idea:thumbsup2

Hi,
For us, please my DSD Sarah 24, she & my MIL will have their own cabin so we'll have two cabins for the FE.
Thanks! Sara
Added the second cabin :thumbsup2
must make sure you are not on the same list

That is a great idea, having never participated before, are we assigned cabin #'s or decks of the FE participatants?
Thanks

Last time we just picked random cabins numbers - not by deck. It worked out well and spaced the gifts out over the entire cruise.

You can state a preference if you have one, but usually the person compiling the list usually just randomly assigns the cabins/date ranges.

To JNS, if you need help with the FE lists, just let me know!

FYI - If anyone collects Coke Rewards points they have a cute paper Disney Cruise ship you can assemble as a printable download for 1 point. Thought I'd make a few to surprise the kids.

Yes I can do it :thumbsup2
Do we need a cut off date ?

Anyone any ideas for a Dis meet yet ?

Hello to all you 2011 med. cruisers. I am hoping that DCL does the 11 day med again during the summer of 2012 (I'm a teacher:teacher:). I hope that some of you are planning to do trip reports when you return from your trip. I can't wait to read about your experiences, excursions, port adventures, etc. :surfweb:

Have an amazing time!

For those of you using Limoinrome does the price include tickets to the venues or is that extra? popcorn::

I think we definitely need a cut-off date. How about three weeks before the cruise, say May 31? That will still give ample planning time for the FE gifts. Does that sound ok?

Also, regarding a cruise meet, I still love the green name tag idea and would vote for a meet before the Safety Drill - around 3:00 or 3:30 in the bar area by Parrot Cay.

Any other ideas?

Here is an amazing trip report done by a fellow DISboarder on last Summer's Med. Cruise. It's very long, so make sure you have some time to view it. This will really make you excited for our upcoming adventure. Hope the link works:

Have fun!

Since our cruise isn't too far off, I thought I would put together a list of our cruisers. Its hard to keep track as more people come online. We can add to this list as time goes on.

Also, many have mentioned an interest in the FE exchange. I would love to do this also. I guess we need to find out who would be interested.

WOW ! Thanks for putting together this list of cruisers!! You rock!:cool1:

It's the start of a new school year here in Oz, so have been busy with the kids & then I check back on the disboard & there has been so much activity!

Thanks Allison for your great list, I notice there's a few other cruisers with 10 yr old DDs. Last cruise my DD emailed similiarly aged DDs for a few months before the cruise & it made it really easy when they finally met up on the cruise. So those with DDs around 10, pls let me know if you are interested in this idea.

Jns, pls add us to the FE list. We participated last cruise & it was a real highlight for the kids.

Thanks,
Rach

Hi Everyone- Just found this website as I was researching for our trip this summer. There will be 6 of us- me, my husband, son (10), daughter (5), baby son (14 mos.) and a nanny. I appreciate all of the helpful advice that has already been posted. I have a few questions that I was hoping that some of you might know the answer to or where to find it- this is our first Disney Cruise and our first cruise with our children!

What about seasickness? Is this a problem with children?

Cell phones- should we call our provider and find out about international availability or can we buy the pay per minute kind over there? There are going to be some days when the baby will be on board with the nanny and we want to be able to keep in touch. Also, in case I go off somewhere with one of the kids and need to reach my husband when in port.

Do you know if we book our Barcelona Hotel with our Hilton points if we can still pay for and do the Disney check-in and transfers or if you have to go through Disney? We have enough points to stay at the Diagonal Mar, but also enough for the Holiday Inn Express (which is not a Disney hotel and it is less points).

I have also been trying to figure out the weather for that time of year- some of the pictures that people have posted look like it might be a little chilly- is the sea water warm enough to swim in? We have planned several of our port excursions around just trying to find a beach to hang out for awhile on a few of the days as a break- but we are used to warm sea water in the summer.

Would love for our children that are the same ages to meet up with any of the other kids travelling. They are very excited about this trip! Also any advice from Disney veterans on must-have/must-pack things for kids or tips for activities and things onboard the ships. I'm sure I will have more questions as I continue to plan for this trip! Thank you!:yay:

No, Jenny. You must purchase your own tickets to the venues prior to the cruise. (Limoinrome will purchase private tours, though. We are doing a private tour at the Vatican, and they are arranging this.)

Welcome! I just wanted to address the cell phone question. Make sure you check with your provider to see that your phone is international-ready. (Made that mistake once!) Also, make sure you get the country codes for our ports, etc. I had not traveled overseas much the first time I tried using my cell phone, and it was strange learning to use different country codes, etc.

Welcome! My children (or my nieces) didn't have a problem with sea sickness. I did have the SeaBands ready but didn't end up needing them.

Cell phone- You may want to look into an international texting plan. We did that when we traveled to Greece and Turkey last year and it wasn't too bad. My DH added an internaltional voice plan to his phone for a month as he didn't to be in touch with the office.

I have two DD's 5 and 9. We sailed on the Magic over New Years and both girls absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back. DD 5 especially loved the kids club, actually asked to leave the beach to go back to the club. DD 9 loved the shows.

Your kids will love it and you will love it too. :dance3:

So excited :yay:

I just confirmed our family pizza and pasta making class in Lucca, Italy. I think it will be a nice break for the kids from "seeing old things" before we climb the Leaning Tower of Piza!

Everyone's airfare is finally booked. Managed to get 5 of us on frequent flyer tickets and just had to buy one. :woohoo:

It's getting closer and closer.....
