June 18, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

Please add us to the FE list....kids really enjoyed checking to see what goodies were put in. Also enjoyed going around the ship to fill other's FE. :cool1:

Aloha,
Jen

To jns - I've never done an FE exchange before so I guess it would depend on how many want to join in the exchange. What have you done in the past?

I say we do it per room to make it easy. On our past cruise, some people did make sure to include some candy/small toys type things if the room had children.

On our last cruise to the Mexican Riviera we brought Hawaiian type goodies like mac nuts, pens with Hawaii on it, etc. Kids loved any of the snack items.

Last time we had a cut off date and as there was a lot joining we spilt it into smaller groups think about 12-15 staterooms each

Aloha,
Jen
have added you :thumbsup2 and yes I love going around seeing all the doors done up too

Wow, alot of people on this cruise now. this is great.

Please add us to the FE list, we like participating in them.

Still haven't bought our air tickets yet. I know, just holding out.

George
OK Added you too

JNS,
Add us to the FE. Just paid and heading over on BAA so it's really official! Listening to NPR daily for news on Tunisia. A few months ago knew almost nil about this country but I'm learning fast. Thanks for the link goofiedadeo, I'll read up on that as well. Can't imagine Disney will want any doings with a hot spot so I hope Tunisia settles down soon. They cannot afford to lose the tourism.

Allison, dw -46, late dinner seating due to ABD, at le meridian pre cruise, wants to participate FE.

JNS - Can you add us to the FE exchange too? It's a blast. I think it will be easier by room, but some extra goodies for kids is great. I also think it's a great idea to have a cut-off date and break the rooms into smaller groups (someone suggested 12-15). We did an FE exchange last year on the Baltic cruise and it was a real challenge to transport the goods to and from the ship - but well worth it.

Allison - Thank you so much for putting the list together. That's very helpful. On our Baltic cruise we did a cruise-meet in the bar near Parrot Cay at 3:30 - so before the Safety Drill. The lime green name tags are a great idea.

I'm getting really excited now that the holidays are over. We will be staying post-cruise for a week in Italy. Yay!

Not sure if group transport from Casp 74 really saves much money, but I can check into it. From what I've heard, taxis are fairly cheap.

I got in too late on my last cruise to be a part of an FE exchange. We have DH, 40, me DW 37, DD 12 & DD 9. I like the idea of smaller group 12-15 is much easier to handle finacially and in luggage.

Please remind me of the rules and regs, for participation.

Thanks

I think it will be easier to go by rooms also for the FE exchange. 12-15 rooms is a good number as we will have lots of luggage.

Love the idea of the green paint chip for a name tag. Just name the time and place.

Fish Exchange list updated here
JNS,
Add us to the FE.
All done :thumbsup2

Think its up to us as a group to decide
so far most people are saying gift per stateroom ,but some extra goodies for kids and keep it to small groups

Please let me know if I miss anyone looking to join in the exchange

what is FE?

i have never cruised before :confused3

FE=fish extender gifts
Outside each cabin is a fish clip that staff will clip announcements etc. You can find pics of them easily on here if you search. If you have joined a sail group for the date you are cruising a lot of times they have FE gift exchange. You make a mailbox that loops over the FE and they put gifts in it. can be bought on ebay...worth every penny or make your own . A lot of people will put in gifts that represent where they are from or have some relationship with the ship you are on. You will find lots of ideas on these boards. Some deliver one nicer gift and some deliver lots of little gifts. It is SO fun to come back to the cabin and see things have been delivered to your room.

Check this thread out some great gift ideas here

Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like fun, I think we'd be interested in participating, too, assuming the group isn't too big. Don't want to lug too much extra stuff around. :)

JNS - Thanks again for keeping and updating the FE list. One last thing I thought of - on our last cruise we split the list into three parts and assigned a range of days for each part. For example: cabins 5010, 8639 & 7208 (making these up) were assigned to deliver gifts from June 16 through June 18, then 3 or 4 more cabins got June 19 through June 21 and so on. You just picked a day in your date range to deliver the gifts.

That way, the gifts were spaced out over the course of the cruise. Otherwise, everyone tends to hand out gifts the first day or two.

Does that make sense? If it's too much work, I totally understand. Just wanted to float the idea out there.

That is a great idea, having never participated before, are we assigned cabin #'s or decks of the FE participatants?
Thanks

Wow...looks like 7 families are staying at Casp74 pre-cruise. Would be cool to plan a get-together like maybe tapas and drinks one night to meet everyone.
