June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

Hi Stephanie,

Someone posted on the board that the tours would be out in december but have heard nothing from Disney not even a letter.

think it would be nice if people could get together on private tours as it does save on cost. Have you been to taly before? we used to drive down there a lot when our children were small so aregoing to be a bit selective this time on what we want to do.Have never been to Sardinia or Sicily but was told about some ruins with wonderful mosiac floors and a good view of Etna but do not know how far from Palermo that is as yet.

Rather fancy the Royal Palace in Monaco and the beaches around Costa Smeralda in Sicily are supposed to be wonderful and the playground of the rich and famous.

I just talked to DVC and they said they just got an email from DCL that they were going to start posting excursion information. She told me to check the DCL website. She said it was just for Barcelona, but it's a start!

I have only been to france. So all of the med and london are new to me! I am very excited. This has been on my to do list for a long time! I would definately be interested in sharing a private car with anyone. I am not sure how many they hold but maybe I should do some looking. I have a 9 year old girl so it's hard to find people who want to share when they don't have a kid too.

Excursions, yay! :cheer2: I can't wait to hear.

Yesterday, on the all MED thread, someone posted that they were able to reserve Disney Land Paris with Disney Vacation Club. I called and reserved 3 nights prior to the cruise June 13-16 at Sequioa Lodge for 171 pts. The reservation includes length of stay tickets and free breakfast. That was the good news for yesterday.

I noticed Delta has changed most of our flight times on our skymile tickets and on the return leg Delta failed to notice that we miss our connection from Boston to home. I thought this would be an opportunity to change to direct round-trip flights that were blocked out to skymiles (just like the commercials). I was one hour on the phone and they wanted to charge me for changing Air France flights to Delta flights or they wanted us to fly home the next morning from Boston without paying for the hotel stay. All unacceptable -- the agent had to call her help desk who has to call Air France Liason, etc, etc. and Delta will call me back. Sure they will!

I am overwhelmed by the planning of hotels etc. for pre and post cruise. I did find a great sight for hotels, though...www.bookings.com. This sight has been very helpful with maps and stars etc. Additionally, you don't need to pay now for the room, just use your card to hold it. I wish I still had enough points to book at DLP, but I want to head down to disneyland so I am saving for that! I finally sent off for my daughters passport!...Baby steps until june!

S

Jim...that sounds painful. Best of luck working it out, keep us updated. I am off to check my Delta flights, hope they haven't changed....

Taysmom...yes, it is VERY overwhelming. I have never been out of the country before and at points I feel like I am in over my head. Baby steps are the way to go!

I used points for the cruise, so I am not sure when final payment is due. My points were deducted a long time ago! I have never been on a disney cruise before, does anyone know what the fee items are? We were on a royal carribean and we had to buy the soda package and pay for things at the coffee stand and the ice cream stand. Does disney have things like this or are they all inclusive?
S

We used points for 2 people and are paying cash for 3. Now there's the scary part! :scared1: Got to plan for Christmas accordingly so I can make sure to get that final payment in!

I have only been on one other Disney cruise so I am far from an expert on this but if I am remembering correctly you have to pay for soda in the dining room but not out by the pool. Ice cream is included too. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Taysmom, Soda was always free in the dining room and now also free on Deck 9 by the pools in self-service mode. If you wanted soda from the bar to have during a show, then you would also pay for that. If you wanted cans of soda to have in your room's cooler, then you will have to pay for that as well.

Hi Everyone,

Just checked up and found I was missing some postings and must not let that happen again.

Raining here in England but not at all cold. Went ot see our daughters for the weekend in Jersey and weather was fantastic. It always is much milder in the Channel Isles than rest of uk. This time some of our lovely Chelsea Pensioners were there as it was remembrance weekend and they always look so striking in their red uniforms. Channel Isles were the only part of the UK to be occupied during WW2 and they had a very bad time until they were liberated so always have big parades. My friends father was a Chelsea Pensioner and we often visited him and that was quite an experience. They are wonderful people and always so cheerfull

Good news was the airports are running quite well at the moment although they are being very strict and checking in does take a while longer than normal but nothing exceptional.Taking shoes off is the worst part as the ground always seems a long way away putting them back on again. Never mind small price to pay for safety.

Hi Brenda,

I love reading your posts & all of your adventures. My DF was in WW11 in England. I will forward him above, I know he will enjoy it.

We 19 of us are leaving on Sunday for a few days in Disney, then off to the Wonder for Thanksgiving. Lobster instead of Turkey for me. LOL

Glad to hear all is well.

Happy Thanksgiving Medheads

Patricia

Yes Brenda, you have very interesting stories. :thumbsup2

I too am going to Florida for Thanksgiving, but not to Disney. We own a vacation home in the panhandle, so that's where we will be. Pat, I'm jealous that you get to have a quick Disney Cruise fix before our Med. sailing!

It's been cold and rainy here for 3 days now and I'm ready for some Florida sunshine. :sunny:

Hi Medheaders!

We are also going to see Mickey this weekend--cannot wait to see the Holiday Decorations!

I also have a favor to ask-Due to circumstances beyond my control we need to get a new webmaster for our website. Any volunteers please pm me --thanks and

HAPPY THANKSGIVING--and for you Brenda --Have a nice November 23rd! :bounce:

Hi Everyone, I am so envious of you all going to see Mickey this weekend dont believe it is a year since we were there. Never mind cruise to look forward to and hoping to go back Christmas 2007.

Channel Isles are part of the UK but so different and nearer France than England. There are just a cluster of Islands surrounded by rocks which make boating around them very dangerous. It only takes about 35 minutes to fly from Gatwick so that does not take long. You can go by sea but the boat takes 10 hours and the fast craft about 3 but it can be very rough and the fast craft often has to be cancelled.

The Islands are Jersey, Guernsey,Alderney, Sark and Herm and in Sark they defeated the enemy by speaking their own dialect which is know as Sarkese and is something like French. Sark and Herm have no cars at all only tractors and on Sark you can rent bikes and cycle around - a different world but lovely and I thoroughly enjoy going there.

Hello everyone. How does charging to your room work on a Disney cruise? Is it the same as at WDW where you can have a credit card put on your room key? Can my sister and I each have our credit cards attched to our room key or is it only one credit card per room, not per key. I hope I am making sense!
