I just had a thought--when do we start our rotation dining? If it is on the first night, won't most of the second diners miss the Bon Voyage party? :scared1:

Thank you Disney Lover Linda!! I'm glad you noticed the price reduction. Now we can order those $8 poolside margheritas guilt free!! :thumbsup2

Taysmom, I was thinking, is it possible to cancel your points booking and book with cash? I know if you cancel, they will only let you rebook using those points as "reservation" points (not vacation club properties), but it might be worth it. I don't know, just a thought.

Jodie,

I'm a I booked with points for one of us and cash for the other. I was looking at the DVC website and I think you have until yesterday or today. Basically if you cancel or change with 45 days the penalty isn't aweful. The points then need to be used in the use year of the reservation so it would be this use year and even though you can't stay at a DVC resort, you can stay at any disney other disney hotel on your points. I was thinking about making the change, but I just hate to change things.

Marie

I know what you mean about changing stuff . . . although it seems that I'm always doing it!! The DVC rules are so complicated, I can't keep them all straight. I always check to see what the $$ value is per point to decide whether to book with cash or points. I think we get a better value at the DVC resorts - more bang for your buck using points - literally! I'm looking forward to seeing the new Animal Kingdom Villas. They sound very nice!

I hope you all are happy with your downgrades. Boy you sure did save a lot of $$$! But, on the other hand if you don't get upgraded you don't feel too cramped with your cat 12. There are nice decks to sit on.

I've already said to my DSIL (Disney Lover Linda) who made the first comment about the price of cat12's, look what you started!

It won't affect us...we were in a Cat 10 (inside room) anyway. The only difference for us was the split bathroom, which adds about 20 square feet to the room size. We've stayed in a Cat 11 before with 4 people and it was just fine so I'm sure 3 people will be no problem. The $$ savings were just too good to pass up. :thumbsup2

Hey Jeff. What do you think about sharing the van in Marseilles? If you guys aren't interested (and don't worry, you won't offend me if you're not), I think we'll cancel the van and book a smaller vehicle with another company since it would be less expensive than an 8 seater van. Just let me know. :goodvibes

Theresa - according to what I have been told, rotation dinning does start on the first evening. The crew is aware of the sail away party so my only thought is the first evening for late diners might be a little quicker then normal. I know we are going to plan dinner around the deck party and try to be in the dinning room as soon as possible and then we might just have a light dinner so it's quicker. Although we've seen the deck party several times, I would love to see us sail away from Barcelona. Also, if some cruisers get off the ship after checking in and are not back on until 9PM they will miss dinning on the first night.

I checked with DVC months ago about changing to cash, upgrading with points, cancelling. It wasn't worth it. Even though i'd get the points back, i'd have to use them w/in a year. That would mean alot of trips to disneyland! Probably spend more there than I would on the cruise.

I wish there was a solid way to find out how full the ship will be. Everytime you ask DCL, they say oh it "pretty full". I want to use leverage to get a room with a view, without paying 4k for it!

On top of all that, I have the may08 repo booked and I want to rebook it on board to get the discount and OBC, but it is still sold out! Darn it. I guess I'll book a dummy date and see if it opens up.

Only 41 days until we leave for barcelona. It's coming up fast!

Thanks Leilani!

I have spoken to DCL this morning and they told me the Sailaway party is at 10, and the Pirates in the Mediterannean party is at 9:30. The second dining people are just going to have to chew faster than the first

Jodie,

I'm interested...just waiting to see where you were planning to go / what you were going to see. PM me with the details of what you have in mind.

Jeff

Taysmom,

If you go on to the website and pretend as if you're making a reservation and click on "select specific stateroom," it shows you whats left in each category. I asked a rep if that is truly the inventory (I thought maybe they didn't show all rooms available), and they said yes - the rooms shown are what they have left. The last time I looked, there were only about 6 or 7 rooms left in each category. That makes me think that the upgrade chances are probably pretty slim - unless you're a cat 12 since there are so few cat 12 rooms on board.

Jeff,

I've been lazy with the Marseilles planning. Some time in the next few days, I'll try to narrow it down a bit - although I wanted to be able to plan things a bit by ear depending on how the kids do. Will PM you.

If you pick a room that is not on the list and hit submit you can see if that room is available. I have been doing this and it seems there are a lot of rooms still left, they just show you what they conceder the best pick in the cat. Our down grade is done so I am looking at the rooms all the time so I can get a feel for what will be left. :surfweb:

Consider that food chowed real fast! :drinking1 We are in the second seating. That should be some celebration! Can't wait!

Funny, I tried doing the same thing, and it kept telling me that the individual rooms I was picking weren't available. Maybe I was just picking the wrong rooms. I'll have to go play with it some more. -Jodie

Yesterday there was a SPR still available

:scratchin

I just went on the website because I wanted to see the exact number of what it would save us to downgrade. We paid points for some and cash for some so I got a little confused, but it was around $5,000. No one in my family wants to do it though.

Holy cow! Just for fun, look at the price for the May transatlantic trip - cateogry 12. A family of 4 could go for less than $3,000! Too bad my kids are in school - HA!

OK Silver 7 . . . do tell! What is the secret porthole room . . . or does telling spoil the secret??
