For anyone going to Paris before or after the cruise, do you have recommendations for a transport company? I'd like to have something set up ahead of time, and not have to worry about finding a cab when we get there. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

When I made our res. at DLP, the agent said there was signage at the airport for the shuttle. I have the details written down somewhere and will share that with you before the end of the cruise. We have a 2:30 pm flight on Iberia into Orly. Are we on the same flight?

I am having the worst time focusing on work. Can't imagine it's going to be much better the next three days.

Anyone concerned about the planned rail strike on the day we are in Rome??? Just wondering...

Since I have seemed to anger the travel gods, taking no chances - spent some time separating outfits by suitcase, that way if one goes awol, we will at least have some clothes each

Fabulous idea Marla . I've read about the issues with Iberia losing luggage and am slightly concerned about that.

Here's hoping you receive that passport for your newly arranged flights!

Sorry about the passport situation. I hope you get it in time. Are they sending it now or do you have to pick it up? Fingers crossed that all goes well!

One more day of work. My boss is officially freaking out. It's funny, but he's stressing me. Can't wait to leave wed.

So mickeyteachers is at sfo in the am. There was another california family going...what time are you leaving sfo? or is it LAX. We don't leave until the afternoon.

Mickeyteachers...make sure when you park your car, try to park in a large space that has only on side that is on another car. I left my car in a hotel parking lot and came back to my drivers side mirror missing and a nice dent in my door! Of course, you sign a waiver excluding the hotel from damages and no one left a note. Next time I will make sure I park against a wall!
Gotta run to target to get the last of my supplies.

Ok, didn't go to target. I should do that now. Before I forget. I did zip up the 2 big bags. The packing list from disboards is very helpful. The only things I have left to pack is the stuff I need to use over the next 2 days.

I can't believe the passport problems. Here you can go to SF and get it in a day. It takes 4 hours and costs alot, but I had a coworker have the same prob as you. Last year, the day before she left for ireland, she spend the morning at the passport office. I hope it all works out!

I too am worried about iberia. I have packed another days worth of clothes in my carry on...which I have weighed all my bags and measured them. I am well within their restrictions! phew!

Vicki, we are on the same flight! Unfortunately, we're not doing DLP. After a Disney wedding and Disney cruise, Andy wasn't going for it So we're staying at the Westin Paris and spending a couple days sightseeing.

We don't have that French store Target, we only have a Walmart in our small town. I hope I just have one more trip there before I leave Thursdsay.

I lucked out with the airport hotel in Pittsburgh. Luckily I made the reservation in February. It's a clean hotel with Internet ( a must for us dis boarders), free breakfast in the morning, a shuttle to the airport, plus we can park 2 cars there for $76.50 for 2 weeks (cheaper than the airport parking lot). If I had made the reservation now I don't think I would have a room. The going rates for rooms in Pittburgh this week (if you can get a room) are $300-400 for ANY room. The US open is in Pittsburgh this week plus the Pittsburgh Airport is having it's air show.

Hello Fellow Med-Head Cruisers!!!!!!

Sorry I havent been around but I have been reading! Less than 72 hours we will be flying to BCN this Thursday from JFK. We have a layover in Dublin. We're flying Aer Lingus. Hopefully we dont lose our luggage!

Few questions:

- I see some people mentioned MedHead tshirts. It's probably too late and my fault for not asking for one sooner, but if anyone has extras I will gladly pay for one!
- I remember reading somewhere that you will need copies of all official documents like passports, drivers license, insurance cards, etc.... What do you actually carry on your body when you are out on excursions? Do you leave your original passport in the room safe or bring it with you on excursions?
- We are flying Aer Lingus from JFK to DUB then DUB to BCN. Do we have to go claim our luggage in DUB to then check in our luggage again for BCN? It all seems confusing and I dont want to lose our luggage!

Looking forward to meeting you all during the DIS meets and in the Roy Suite on the 17th at 2pm! Btw, when will we know when DIS meets are?


So we are packed for the most part. Bringing 2 large suitcases, one for Lou one for me. Not much room for souveniers, have to work on that one. As the suitcases are, the each weight approx 38 lbs. So we have to be careful because Ryannair have severe restrictions on the weight of checked in luggage since after the cruise we will be flying to DLP for a few days.
We're getting our binder together for official paperwork.
Our parents are dog watching Bowser for us at our place. Helps out with mail, etc...
We basically just need to get our carry-on in order with things, pack the electronic stuff, do a once over with the luggage and head to JFK around 2pm on Thursday!

Answers...
The medhead t-shirts were ordered individually. Sorry, but look for us. You're always welcome. Not everyone bought.
Passports..some blogs say they brought their originals, some say they brought copies. I think it's your discretion. When I was in paris a few years ago, I always carried the original. BUT leave copies here with someone in case it gets lost they can fax it to you.
You're welcome to come to the meet. Leilani already left, but she was keeping a tally so she could send out reminders on board. Their in the Roy Suite @ 2pm. It's on the 8th floor....Just look for the large loud party!

Also, if you're not tired you can meet us at La Poma restaurant on friday night @ 8pm. If you want to eat with us, pm Pillow (aka Jodie) soon. I think she leaves tomorrow or wed. Otherwise, some are just stopping by to say hi. The address is listed back a couple of pages.

We are also meeting the night before excursions for a drink and to coordinate and get ideas from others. You're welcome to join for that. An official bar hasn't been decided yet, but we'll have it at the meet.

Oh..and some are meeting for lunch on board 1:30ish on the 16th. Basically, after checking in and taking care of business just come to the restaurant. I don't know which one yet but DCL says only one restaurant will be open for lunch. NOT the buffets, the restaurant. If you want to join us, let me know so I can alert them of our size.

I hadn't heard about the rail strike. Thank you for mentioning it, because I was seriously considering cancelling my Disney shore excursion now that I know the train into town is walking distance from the ship. I guess I better sit tight for now.

If you are excited, this is definitely the group to be in! I flew Aer Lingus to Dublin a couple months ago, and was very happy with the service. And you can ask when you checkin, but they should check your bags all the way to BCN. We (DD8 and myself) are also on Deck 6 in 6583. See you soon!

We don't leave Brussels until Friday at 1pm, but I'm almost packed and ready to go!!

Hope we can find you on Friday evening - our hotel is a little way on the outskirts but that is what you get when you pick something up reasonable on Sky travel shop.

The puppies were fine at Doggie Day Care, and so I feel much better about leaving them for so long.

After my excursion into town yesterday I FINALLY got the guys to pack SOMETHING so they will not be wearing the same clothes EVERY day They keep telling me there is still time

Hi Everyone,

Yes think some people are already away as the board is getting quieter by the day.

Who is the last one to leave I wonder. Our flight is not until Friday morning from Gatwick - packed already big mistake now so restless that I cannot think and the thought of preparing or eating a meal is just too much.

Just had an email from British Airways reminding us that we can check in on line from thursday morning that got me going again.

Know that the exchange of gifts is 1.30 but do not know where. Think I will be staggering around the ship with my little bag of gifts.

Weather here wonderful so far today - all washing up to date and I do so hope it is kind to Leilani in London - weather report for there looks good and they gave 25 today there.

Marla - Have they given you any indication when they think you will be getting the passport? I feel so bad for you - this is definately way bigger stress than is needed. (Of course, none is needed) We are keeping you in our prayers.

We had the carry on stress last night. Size of carry on doesn't seem to work with all we need to carry. Husband has lots of gadgets plus we have to have clothes to change into since we're flying Iberia - the luggage losing airline. We, too, have put each person's clothes in each of the bags.

Pillow - Hate to hear that your daughter is sick. I guess that sore throat got worse. I'm sure the doctor can get some antibiodics for her to get her all well to travel.

Lisa, Lou, and Jeff - we are in 6645, so should be right down the hall from you. We'll have door magnets up too! Come say hello!

Tomorrow morning at this time, we will already be at the airport. Our flight leaves just after 8am, so we we'll be on our way. Can't wait to meet all of you and start our vacation of a lifetime!!

We leave from Brussels at 1pm on Friday. But that is only 7am back on the East Coast of the US, and 4am on the West Coast.
