June 15 - June 22 2013 Eastern Fantasy

Yea. :goodvibes Flights from Houston have really jumped up in cost in the last year. :scared1: I normally book early but I may just wait and see. May even consider driving. Yuck.

This will be the first time we are NOT driving! :drive:

I really wanted to enjoy a few days at Saratoga Springs before the cruise. :)

Are you flying in early? We are going to flying in on Tue/Wed for a few days at WDW. :cool1:

We are leaving Tuesday and returning on Monday! A little time in Saratoga Springs, our home resort! :goodvibes

I really thought the prices would be higher than that. I also wanted my choice of time. We got a 7:00 am flight outgoing and 11:00 return.

Sounds like a fun time at Saratoga Springs.:cool1: Glad to hear you were able to get good rates for June. :thumbsup2 My family would kill me if I booked a 7am flight. We would have to be out of the house by 4am to make that one. No problem for me but the ladies would not be happy campers. :(

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Yes, not the ideal choice but hey, they can sleep on the plane. That's just more time in WDW!!! :cool1:

Yes they have! My DHs family lives in Houston. We couldn't believe how expensive the flights were for our family of 4 when we flew back in June for his high school reunion.

No flights for us as we live in South Florida. On our Magic cruise we drove up the night before (didn't end up leaving until almost midnight!). We stayed in a hotel with a "park and stay" option and took a shuttle to the port. Probably will do something similar next year. Although, since the kids get out of school 8 days before the cruise we've discussed spending some time in Orlando before.

Things have been busy for us with back to school. DH booked us another cruise for Spring Break next year. Sadly not on DCL but on the Norwegian Epic. We've cruised NCL before but never the Epic and our neighbors were going. We're going to all the same ports as the Fantasy (exchanging Castaway Cay for Nassau of course). At least its a cruise.

We're talking about a trip to WDW next month for DDs 5th birthday. DS happens to have a random Friday off the week before DDs birthday so he wouldn't have to miss any school. I was hesitant to book anything before we found out about school makeup days for Tropical Storm Isaac (our schools were closed for 2 days because of flooding) but it turns out we won't be losing that day.

Anyone ever use Ground Transportation? :confused3

We are thinking of using it instead of renting a car but I'm not sure if it's even any cheaper than getting a rental car. Also, I'm thinking we won't get to the port early if we are coming from SS. A last option would be to use the transportation to the Hyatt than use transportation from there to get to the port.

What do you think?

Once we did the following:
Airport to Hotel using ME
Hotel to port using a car service
Port to Airport using DCL bus

We had no problems. Of course the car service was nice by being able to set the time we wanted to go and not have to make any other stops. DCL transfers were very smooth for going to the airport as well.

That will be nice for DDs birthday.

We are going a cruise over Thanksgiving with another cruise line and then another one in April to celebrate our 10 yr anniv. on a yet another line. I am not familiar with the Epic. You will have to share afterwards.

Renting a car one way is usually cheaper than using DCL transport if you have a 3 or more people. If you decide to rent a car then you have to drop everyone off at the port and then return the car and shuttle back to the port. DCL transport from the WDW reports is by far easier and less stressful but you will get to the port later usually after 1pm. One other option you can look at is to hiring a limo to the port. Using a limo you can control when you get to the port and make a stop along the way which some use to pick up some alcohol.
