hi

found the thread!

(well , like most DHs, it was right under my nose.)

well, me, DW, 3 DS , and DM will be there.

Excursion booklets just came today:confused:

in the words of Flounder " Oh boy is this great!":bounce:

Great hometech99!

Good luck on deciding on your excursions! If you have any questions, I'll try to help you out. I haven't done a 7 night or taken a 3 year old, but we have done two 3 nights.

Lorie

Well, we're set with our excursion. We just booked the Capt. Nautica at 7:50 in St. Thomas! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

Just received the fax confirming us for the St John 5 Star excursion! We're also considering the new jetski excursion on CC, but according to Barb they don't allow you to go "full throttle." To me, that would be the whole point!

I can't believe how fast the weeks are going! I just got back to the forum here.

Lorie, I told Nate I found someone else who was going. I think he'll be anxious to hook up with Andrew; things are especially more fun with a friend! Nate is pretty lazy about email though.

Can we request where to dine & with whom?

I really need to start doing my "homework"!!! Never enough time...

well, my middle DS got his wish- we're doing the Anguilla Dolphin and Stingray. a colleague is going to Anguilla (again) actually next week and totally made me feel better about the cost.

the teen DS is doing the Wild SIde, and we are doing the getaway package at the Cay.

On ST thomas/John, I think DW said we are going (without excursion) to Coral World and spending the day on the beach there (excursion only give you 3 hrs).

getting all my techie digicam stuff ready, CD-Rs to burn pictures to, etc etc.

We are signed up for the Captain Nautica's as well. However, we really wanted to get in the Dolphin/Stingray excursion. My DH didn't call soon enough and they were booked.:(

If there is anyone out there who booked the Dolphin excursion and changes their mind, please contact me. I personnally was looking forward to this as I have wanted to swim with dolphins for as far back as I can remember.

I'm a lurker as we had a "slow" internet service, but now finally have DSL so I've been on more! I posted months ago and "chatted" with you Lorie. We are dh, ds- 13, dd- 9, and myself. We'll be flying in on Thurs. prior.

Lorie, we still need to get our ds an e-mail address to communicate. Does your ds do AIM? I see there are some other ds his age too!

OK, I'm off this week so I've been posting for once. We did make our excursion reservations - Anguilla dolphin & stingray, 5 star St. John, parasailing, and banana boat.

What is the get-away package at Castaway Cay?

With vacation this week for Spring break (kids too, not dh) I keep meaning to make all my lists for the trip. Anybody else making lists?!

Nice to find this post, and happy to meet you all!

Barbara

g028366, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get your wish for your excursion. But I'm glad you are doing the Capt. naut. Are you on the morning with us or are you in the afternoon?

Colcol2, yes you can request dinner-mates. Both parties will need to contact DCL and request to be linked to the other party. We did this last year with my sister and it was fine.

We recently switched to a different internet server and even though we set our ds up, we can not remember what we did! It just goes to show you how many e-mails he writes!!! We just got home from spring break and he has disappeared...imagine that! As soon as I pin him down, I'll post his e-mail.

I think the get away package at CC is the one where you get bikes, rafts and snorkel equipment. This does not need to be reserved ahead of time.

Bye, Lorie

Thanks for the info., Lorie! Sounds like everyone has some good excursions planned! We are doing alot as we might not get back to this area for a looonnngggg time. I personally am just looking forward to R & R! We're flying out the last day of our kids' school year and my work school year. So, the rest of you educators know what a busy time that is, but what a prize is waiting at the end!!!

Anyway, in my excitement to post on this thead, I neglected to say "sorry to hear about the Anguilla excursion no-go" to g028366. That is a bummer. We got up at 5 a.m. PST on Monday just to be sure because that was 60 days on the counter. Then, we got in right at 5a.m. on Tuesday. Hope you can get on the wait-list and then YOU GET IT! We'll keep our fingers crossed for you! I would not waitlist to the "observer Anguilla" though. Somebody had hoped they'd let their daughter participate and it didn't happen save for a quick pet thanks to the mom.

Well, have fun planning everyone!

Barbara (PS I laughed at your ds "being gone" already following your get-away! He is indeed "13!")

Barbara,

Lists, lists and more lists!!! I've printed out all the menus, the navigators shopping guides etc. I'm trying to get as much info as I can and be ready!

My best list (and don't laugh, although my dh does!) is the list for my over the door shoe holder. I have added velcro to each pocket and made a list of what goes in each one. That way, when it is time to use it, I check the list for things to be added or refilled. I keep everything in it all year round. I just roll it up and go.

To anyone wishing to find tables mates who are pretty down to earth, normal (well fairly normal) people, it would be fun to hook up a group. The more the merrier! In fact, I'm used to dining with over 100 of my closest friends at a time on Fall Friday nights! That is of course 100 teenagers in our band group with a few parents thrown in. So if you can stand a slightly abnormal family (altered by 17 years of teaching 6-18 yr olds), join us!!! We do have the late seating.

Bye, Lorie

I will be sailing with you on June 12 with my 18 year old niece who will have just graduated from HS. This is her 3rd DCL cruise and my 4th but it is the first 7 day for both of us. We will follow up with one day at Disney staying at the BCV. Just wanted to say hi and we hope to meet some of you during the cruise.

Lorie and all,

Count us in for table mates! We have late seating too. We'd like to make sure there is/are some kids around our dd's age (age 9) too. What should we do? Wait to see who is interested, then call Disney? BTW, we are a pretty normal down-to-earth family too, but also like to have fun. I must admit, I'm already looking forward to having the drink of the day, LOL! (not heavy drinkers, promise, but again - do like to have fun!)

You are a person after my own heart with lists, actually, you are doing better than I. ;) I like the idea of the list for the "over-the-door" hanger!

Panthergirl: Welcome aboard! What a great aunt you are to take your niece for her H.S. graduation!

Wow, can you believe how close it's getting to our cruise? What will we do when it's over???!!!

Barbara

PS Lorie, we should have lots of fun swapping "student" stories. You have a wealth of experience with kids, and band is FUN! I am a speech-language pathologist in the schools and now work with pre-k through 5th. My love is with middle schoolers, but this works out great for now as I'm part-time (3 days per week, a 50% position). Anyway, we are going to have so much fun, aren't we?!!!

Barbara

Welcome Panthergirl!

Barbara, I know what you mean about getting so close! In eight short weeks and a day we will be going on the ship!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I am looking forward to my favorite drink, the Khalua Colada. It's what it sounds like, but I can never make it taste right at home.

As far as linking for dinner, why don't we wait to see who else might want to join us. That is a good idea. I think Leejanalex have a dd-7 and also a friend for her.. I'm not sure if the ages are in the same groups for club/lab or if they have dinner plans all set.

Hometech99-You sound alot like my dh. He has all kinds of cameras and I'm sure he'll be bringing them along! I saw your post about the underwater camera case. We have one for our digital camera as well.

Lorie

Yummm Lorie, that drink sounds delicious!

One minor "glitch" for table seating requests. We have booked REAS and had planned to "request" a PLA rotation. According to the the Passporter, this is the common rotation for families with older children anyway, and that worked for us.

I think we sure should be able to work around this, any thoughts or ideas, let me know. We'd like to be in Lumieres on Formal night, Palos for the second Lumieres night, and Animators for the semi-formal evening.

OK, TGIF (even on vacation week!)

Barbara

Barbara, not a problem with the dinner request for PLA. I did the exact same thing to have L on formal night!

Lorie

ok, I was able to get my ds out of his cave upstairs. His e-mail is
ramsdude456@wowway.com. I can not guarantee how much or how often he will write, afterall, he is a teenager!

He is btw a nice young man who has spent 90% of his life (outside of school) with his parents. Not only is his school adjacent to the high school where we work out of, he is also in our class. He likes tv, video games and sports.....gee he might not have anything in common with the other boys! LOL

Lorie

Thanks Lorie! I hope to have dh help me setup ds's e-mail tomorrow. Dh has a bit of a flu today, even with the flu shot. :( He'll feel better soon.

Your ds sounds like a great teen!

Great about the PLA rotation, we're on! Let's see who else might be interested.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling, I'll post as soon as my ds is set. In the meantime, happy planning and weekend!

Barbara

OK, looks like we have a lot of lurkers here for the June 12th cruise! Anybody willing to come out of lurkdome who has a dd around 9 years old that will be on the cruise?

Dd is a sociable, kind, happy girl who has many friends and gets along with kids of all personality styles and likes. She's both a girlie girl (likes clothes and shoes), but will be the first to wrestle and join in the fun of an activity. Loves to swim too.

Let me know!
