Bright royal blue tiles surround this beautiful mural... the colors are very vibrant...

IMGP8509.jpg

when the lights go out... fiber optic lights twinkle all over the blue tiles ..
there is even a hidden Mickey!

IMGP8516.jpg

There is a dressing room off to the side of the bathroom...
there are robes and slippers for you to wear...
you get to KEEP the slippers ... not the robes :sad2:

IMGP8514.jpg

more about the robes later...

Oh Sandy! Those pictures are awesome! It looks so beautiful. I do agree with you I will probably never get to stay in that one or the one in Florida. Thanks so much for posting. Glad you got some goodies. That is always special.

Sandy,

Your DH elbow! Oh My! That had to hurt. I can't say I would not go to work either. I think none of us listen to the doctors the way we should. Hope he feels better soon.

How is your knee and leg doing?

take care

The second bedroom is called the Frontierland room...
it has 2 Queen size beds and a chair that was used in Walt Disney Studio's first movie... sorry, I don't remember the name..
.:confused3

IMGP8552.jpg

The chandelier is really something... it is silver, with buffalos, spurs and letter D's all over it.

IMGP8543.jpg

All around the top of the room, there is a shelf with LOTS of cute (wish I had them ) things... There is a Mark Twain steamboat, a Disneyland Railroad train, horses, Popcorn machine, Tiki Room looking birds... etc.

IMGP8540.jpg

The Disneyland railroad train is in a glass case... during the "Goodnight Kiss" the train comes out of the case and rolls all around the shelf around the room, as it passes the things on the shelf, they in turn "do" something, the boat toots, the birds chirp/sing, the horses, move their heads, the popcorn pops and the Columbia rocks back and forth... there is music in the room and things appear in the paintings.

IMGP8537.jpg

There is also a framed Map of Disneyland that Walt had an artist draw up so he could take to the bankers when he was getting money to make the park... it has a black light feature that shows what the park looks like at night... very cool.

IMGP8546.jpg

Lillian Disney loved water features and butterflies... so there are those touches everywhere. The patio has a water fountain with the Disney crest on either side,

IMGP8563.jpg

there are fireflies like on Pirates of the Caribbean flying in the bushes and chinese lantern hanging overhead. The furniture is beautiful.

IMGP8499-1.jpg

The balcony over Pirates of the Caribbean overlooks the Rivers of America, so you have a perfect view of Fantasmic, the Fireworks and the Mark Twain as it goes around.

IMGP8569.jpg

The wood floor has this awesome D in the middle.

IMGP8559.jpg

This is 6 of us proudly wearing our DVC member hats.

IMGP8561.jpg

OH yes,... about those bath robes....

IMGP8514.jpg

after the park closes at night...
the concierge will take you on a PRIVATE tour of the park...
and take your picture in front of the castle in the bathrobes and slippers!!!
:snooty:

Thank you so much for sharing these pictures. This is just wonderful. I can't even imagine how wonderful. We are DVC members too. Oh, I would love to go too.
That is just wonderful. Thanks again for sharing the pictures. That is so great.

I've only cruised with Disney but I have heard from other cruisers and friends that Disney is so different and so much "nicer"...
I always ask people what the differences are so that I can share that when people ask me "what's the big deal with DCL?"

So please share what you are learning about your Princess Cruise that makes you want to go Disney...

Sandy:
I have gone on 2 Disney and 2 Celebrity cruises. This will be my first with Princess.
I was very surprised with Celebrity. I wanted to do Alaska, and since Disney doesn't do Alaska, that left no choice.
But the food was very good. We had a Concierge Class room, very nice. A whole bottle of champagne delivered to our room, We don't drink, so left it when we left. Canapes and fresh fruit delivered to our room everyday. The shows were very good. I love the shows on Disney, and was very surprised they were very good on the Infinity. Broadway type shows, and one night is was an acrobatic show. Incredible.

We don't gamble so we didn't spend any money there. They have very good chocolate croisants hot every morning in one of the coffee places. Very good ice cream everyday.I would have to say the food was very nice, very fancy, and very good.
My second trip, we did a family room. which sleeps 5. They are aft, and so our balcony was big enough for 4 chaise lounges, fully reclined and a large round table too. The service was fantastic both times. I really would recommend them. We layed out on our deck, there were only 4 of us, but we layed out there and watched the beautiful Alaskan scenery on inside passage, and wow. What a sight.

That being all said, Celebrity isn't the best for kids. There were kids, but NOTHING like Disney, and we heard the RCCL or Princess were better for kids. I don't want to do Carnival. So since Princess was more kid friendly, and we are taking 2 teenage boys, and the reviews for Princess seemed a bit better than RCCL and the prices for veranda were so much better. That is what we are doing.
If you have never done Alaska, you won't be disappointed. The glaciers are amazing. The first tripout we went in late July, it was actually much better. The second time out, we went early June, and the area to get back into see the glaciers was still too icy, and the captain, wouldn't let the ship go into it. Better to be safe than sorry, but we were still 8 miles away from the glaciers. But still beautiful. The TA 's I have talked too, said, if you have done Disney and Celebrity, that you are probably spoiled... Yep... But how can I know what Princess is like if I don't try it.... We have good friends, he is the superintendent in our school district, that has been on 10 Princess cruises, and they said they won't do any other line.
On Celebrity, our table mates, have been on 40 Celebrity cruises, and a few others, and they swear by Celebrity. Another couple this was their 30th Celebrity cruise. Wow, I am missing out....

Sandy:
I wanted to do Alaska, and since Disney doesn't do Alaska, that left no choice.

I know that sometime in the near future we want to do an Alaskan cruise... At this time DCL does not do Alaska, but are you aware that with our DVC points, we can book on Holland America to Alaska? All the cruises are 7 night and are very reasonable. (reasonable in points compared to DCL)

I hadn't checked with points on HAL. I knew that it was so many points on DVC, that I didn't even bother checking. I will think about that in a couple of years. But HAL wouldn't be so good for my 2 teenage boys... I wouldn't mind trying HAL though.

Ok it's official - we are NOT canceling the cruise. Pregnancy didn't take, but that is ok, we didn't expect it to. Geez - we tried for 2 years with nothing and then this... Oh well.

Sandy - OUCHIE MAMAMA!!!! I can't believe that photo! I also love the Dream Suite photos. How cool to get to see that! DD sees that all of the time of Disney Channel and keeps asking me to take her there. Yeah right, like its that easy!

Flo - We got into Palo on Cabo night. We wanted that night, we ALWAYS go on formal or semi formal night and we miss those dinners in the regular rotation dining. So this time we want to eat with everyone else!

I had a terrible time making reservations for Palo and shore excursions!!! Anyone else??? The site was slow, I kept trying to save things and it would shut down on me - it tooke me no less than 15 tries and several hours to get it all done. But we got what we wanted so I guess it is ok. DEFINITELY seemed to be easier in the past years than this time! Was even easier the 1st year we went when you couldn't book those things online!

We are headed out to dinner so more later!

I think because I did mine in the wee hours I did not have a problem.

Glad you got Palo on the night you wanted. This is are second time at Palo on formal night. I am not much of a dress up person. I do like to watch all the people. ALso, how cute the little ones look.

Glad you are coming on the cruise with us, but said for you to.:grouphug:

I also only made one shore excursion. That was for my DH and DS.

Hope you had a great dinner.

Just thought I would post this. ON the discussion part I asked what to do on Mazatlan on your own and this is what I was told.

That is a great idea! I suggest:
Take a taxi (at around 9 to 9.30am) to the continuation of life monument (the dolphins called popular) and then once you see this monument, head south, and less then a block away are the cliff divers. Watch them do a dive and then continue walking south. You will see across the street, devils cave, a little further ahead La Mazatleca monument with the walk of the stars next to that. It is like Hollywood where the famous people of the Sinaloa state have there star on the sidewalk (mine is not there yet!).
Continue and you will see monument to Jose Angel Espinoza (a famous composer of Mazatlan) then you will see the monument to the woman mermaid.
By this time you are in Olas Altas area. You will see a modern building (that doesnt fit with the old buildings of the area) and you will turn on that street (Constitution). 2 blocks from the ocean and you will see a great bakery in the corner (no sign but it is Mrs Pompa). On the other sidewalk you will see the Melville boutique hotel (have a look inside). Continue on that street and on the next block you will see Casa Machado museum. It is worth a visit. It is how a house was decorated in the early 1900´s. (2 dollar admssion.)
Next block is Machado plaza a good place for a drink to relax and watch people go by.
Around the corner is Angela Peralta theatre. Worth a visit also. Admission is about 1.20us.
Do not miss my friends gallery and house called Nidart. Loa and Rak are a couple that are very good friends of mine and their house is worth a visit. It is a place where they live. workshop and gallery. They make masks and faces out of leather. Really different. Just visiting there house is worth it! It is right in the corner close to the theatre Libertad and Carnaval streets.
4 Blocks away is the cathedral and market. There is a lot to see if you want to walk.
Another choice is walk to the top of Creston hill where the worlds highest natural lighthouse is. The best view in town! But, walking is the only way!

Have fun while you are here in this beautiful city.

Mazatlan Frank

Thanks for the well wishes and thanks for the tips on Mazatlan! DH wanted to golf that day so we didn't book anything other than that so this might be a nice alternative for me to do on my own! We booked the Nikki Resort excursion in Cabo and then DD wanted to swim with the Dolphins in PV. I learned after our 1st cruise not to book something at every port. We got tired of trying to make our meeting times, etc. and ended up canceling one of the excursions last minute and it is next to impossible to get your money back if you do that!

We bought a special softsided rolling cooler a few years ago, just for the purpose of filling it with our favorite "liquid." We have always flown in the day before and had a personal shuttle take us to Publix to fill it up. Not sure what we are going to do in LA. We are taking Disney transport on Sunday but we get in on Sat so lets just hope we can grab a quickcab to the grocery store at some point.

Dont ice anything down though. Our stateroom attendant was always nice enough to keep our cooler full of ice once we got there.

Also we brought a smaller softsided portable cooler to bring with us to poolside and beachside!

kcarl021: I wanted to ask you did you get allot of snow? We were supposed to be playing baseball at Washington Universaty this weekend and they said that you guys got allot of snow on Monday. Justwoundering.
thanks
Flo
:surfweb:

I know I will do the walk if it is not to hot not sure about my family. I really wanted to do the Dolphin excursion but I did not want to do it times 3 and all of us want to do it. Oh well! Now I can get a nice ring at Diamonds International. I got one in Cozemel and it is so unique. I love rings.

Oh yes we got snow! We had 77 degree weather last Sunday, Monday it dropped into the low 40s. Tuesday we got 10 inches of snow. Wednesday it went back up into the low 40s and was sunny and all of the snow was gone! All 10 inches, melted away! Thursday, Friday and today we are back in the low 30s so its cold, but sunny. You just never can tell what is going to happen around here with the weather!

Greetings, all!

Has anyone booked the Pirate cruise in Puerto Vallarta? We did it on the last MR cruise...it was a blast, so we are doing it again! pirate:

Where are you staying Saturday night???

Ok You make it sound like a blast. I read about it but I have a question since you have been on it. DO you have to swim to the beach or does the pirate ship dock there.

We are staying at the best western that faces the harbor were the ships come in. They have a shuttle that takes you to cruis terminal.
