Interesting Information for Rome Tourists "Beware of three arm gypsies" I'm not kidding

One way, the way we will be taking, to see Rome is by Train. Approximately 9 Euros gets you a 24 hour pass to ride the train round trip and full use of the Busses and Subway. Think We will use the $ we save on a 5 star Roman Dinner.

Hi dawn ... Will your son be closer to 12 or 14? My daughter will be going on twelve ( grade 7 ) and has told me she hopes to meet someone that can show her the Teen club. The pharmaceutical companies should invent a pill that keeps puppies, kittens and kids young longer... They grow up way too fast.

Hi Kissimmee my son will be 13 in a half. He will be going to the teen room for the first time. On our last cruise he went to the oceaneers lab(sp?). He loved every min of it. I am not a big fan of the teen room there is to much freedom in there not much for supervision. We will give it a shot and see what happens. Have you heard anything about excursions or shows that they will be having on our cruise?

Nothing yet. I did my own research, Googling each port and also checking other cruiseline offerings for the same ports. I assume many of the same tour operators will also handle Disney.

Rome especially was a shock. prices of around $150 per person x 6 people starts getting expensive it it is the same in each port.

I was surprised how far away Rome is from the port. As it looks now I'm am leaning toward a cab ride to the train near the boat and then a self guided tour of Rome. Having been there before we have a specific list of sights to visit and the typical tour might not cover those. My wife speaks some Italian so I won't be in a total panic going it alone.

Hi Kissimmee your lucky that you wife can speak some Italian. When I think of all the things I need to do I just get overwhelmed. For example what hotel do we need to book for at Barcelona? What excursions do we want to look at and how much are they? Oh well, I guess I don't need to panic quite yet besides my husband is a very organized person he will look into everything.

Hello, we're on the 6/06 med cruise as well. I'm a single mom in my 40's with two sons who will be 13 and 16. We've cruised on Disney 3 times before and just get off of Royal Caribbean's new Freedom of the Seas 1 week ago. Nice to meet you all. Less than 1 year to go now!

Hi Dawn M - Sorry I haven't been back since I first posted. My two sons are 12 and 15 now, so they'll be 13 and 16 when we cruise next year. Yes, Freedom of the Seas is the new Royal Caribbean ship. We were on the maiden voyage June 4-11. We had a great time, but spent the first few days saying "they don't do this like Disney" and "Disney does this better". After we settled in, we loved the ship, especially the H20Zone. My kids didn't enjoy the kids activities as much as they have on Disney which surprised me because I thought maybe they were getting too old for Disney. I guess I've raised them right and they'll never be too old for Disney! I'm hoping that at 13 and 16 my sons we be able to appreciate Europe, but we'll see. Maybe we'll get some more people who are traveling on June 6th on this thread. Nice to meet you, now I'm off to work.

Count our families in as well. There will be my husband, my daughter and her husband. I told my son in law that we should be ok on the Med Cruise -- after all, he speaks Spanish and French. My daughter is learning Italian. My husband and I speak English. We should be good all the way around.

Have any of you made your hotel reservations at Barcelona?

Hi Leslye, glad to have you on board! We haven't booked our hotel yet since we have no idea where we are staying. I plan on running out today and look for some travel books. It sounds like your group has the languages down for the trip. We are a little concerned but, what the heck how bad can it be. Have you ever been to the Med? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Now would you like the count down to the second????

Hi Dawn -- no I've never been to the Med. My husband was stationed in Germany. My son in law, as I said, lived and taught in France. I've never been further east than the Bahamas.

So, today we hae 77 more days until we go on the Southern Caribbean.
