I'm turning 30 soon and I've decided it's time to get healthy and fit for me and the kidlets!

I've started with diet changes this week, smaller portions, cutting out red meat and sweets, more fruits and veggies. I'm going to check out the gym in town tomorrow, I'm ready for this!!

That's awesome! :thumbsup2

I turn 30 on our trip to Disneyland in 10 days! I am trying to lose as much as I can before then. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up after I get back. ;)

Nothing wrong with a little lean red meat, its a great source of protein. And don't go overboard with the fruit, its basically just simple sugars which will add up over the course of the day.

But it definitely sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck to you.

Congratulations on taking charge of your life and making healthy changes!!

If I may offer one bit of advice it is to not make too many changes all at once and to not deprive yourself of your favorite things. If your favorite things aren't so healthy for you then I would eat them sparingly, but I wouldn't cut them out totally. Getting healthy isn't a temporary thing, it is a life commitment and I know from personal experience if you give up what you love you will eventually eat it and probably eat it by the tons! I love snacks and desserts so I make sure I incorporate them into my eating plan so I am not deprived. Good luck on your journey to get healthy!

I actually feel better when I don't eat red meat that's why I'm cutting it out. I get plenty of protein from other sources and I don't feel as sluggish.

I'm feeling pretty good right now with the simple changes so far, DH is the one that I'm starting to worry about, he decided to cut out snacks but then dinner turns into a 2 hour graze fest. :scared1:
