Im going from 17 july-24 july, is the park real packed at this time, are the wait times for the rides real long?

Well I don't have much to compare it with, I've always gone in July. And once in DEc.
....and you can't compare those two times of the year.

Well, if you plan right, and get the most popular rides out of the way before noon, you should be o.k. We always take it easy in the PM, we don't expect to get alot done. Sometimes we are pleasantly surprised!

The heat is a major factor in touring in July. You HAVE to take it easy in the PM, especially if you don't plan on going back to the resort in the afternoon for a swim or nap. We like to stay at the parks in the PM, so we take it easy and try to do many AC shows, eat a long lunch, shop, and watch the parade.

I'm sure you'll find the summer alot of fun. The atmosphere can't be beat. Plan your days, get up EARLY, and drink LOTS of water.

You'll have a blast!

Try to hit the parks early if you possibly can. The sun is intense, so bring sunglasses and maybe a hat. Keep hydrated with water or juices. I have found that humidity goes back up in the evenings, so be aware of that. Don't eat heavy meals and try to take a mid-afternoon break at your hotel pool or a waterpark. Use EasyPass to avoid waiting in long lines with little shade and use a good SPF to avoid sunburns.

We've taken one trip in July and will not do it again. We had a wonderful time but the heat and crowds were overbearing BUT we were there the week of July 4th...NOT a good idea. Just plan your days with plenty of breaks and a trip back to the resort for a rest in the afternoon. Drink, drink, drink water and purchase a handheld electric fan-these are a lifesaver. Just don't overdo, remember that it will be crowded but you are a Disneyworld. A hot and crowded day at Disneyworld is better than ANY day at work! :sunny:

We've visited over that time period the last two years and don't find the crowds to be too overwhelming. Like others have said getting rides done early is the key. We love hopper passes because if one park is too crowded we can hop to another.

We are going the same week - we just booked our trip as a surprise for the kids. I am worried about crowds and heat, too, but plan to spend each afternoon (1-4 at least) at the resort pool.

Have fun!

This will be the third year going in July for us. We swore we wouldn't do this again, but here we are. This will be our 3rd trip this year so far and 3 more to go. We decided to take our GS for a short 5 night visit. Because of the heat and humidity we choose to stay at the BC this summer. We plan to do the parks in the AM, spend time at the pool and resort during the day and back to the parks in the evening. All I can suggest is drinking lots of water, getting a spray bottle and bring extra clothes because we found we often had to change during the day to fresh clothes. You will be surprise how much a person can sweat just standing still. BTW, yes the lines will be long and the parks will be packed--I'm not going to sugar-coat it. It's just the way it is. Make your PS ahead of time because being hot is one thing, being hot and hungery is worse. Enjoy. We will be at the BC July 20-25.

I went late July until early Aug in 03 and it was wonderful! As long as you plan ahead, accept that its going to be hot and crowded, you can still see what you want to see and have a great time. It was much better than my September trip that was less crowded, cooler, and got hit with Hurrican Floyd!!
