July vs October

I currently have a reservation for August 13-24 staying at CSR. I live in Chicago and have children ages 13, 8, and 1. We are going through many changes with the board of education this year. First, a teacher strike which extended the school days into the end of June. Now they are talking about changing the school calendar for the upcoming school year, one of the options is for the school year to begin early August ! There goes our Disney vacation. Now the only time my kids will have off is July. If they decide to star August we will have two weeks off in October. I don't know what do. I know October is less crowded atDisney, but parks are opened less hours.. What would you recommend???? Which is better July orOctober?? We have only been in August.

We have been in both July and October and while we had a great time in July, October is our favorite time to go weather-wise. The weather is still warm enough for swimming and enjoying the water parks, but it's not so hot that it's unbearable walking around the parks (even though in July we didn't mind the heat/humidity). Plus the Halloween party is going on in October. We've had great trips during both times of year, but if I had to choose between the two months, my choice would be to go in October. Good luck.

October hands down. We have not been in July but were there for a week in mid June with a heat wave (temps at 100) and while we still had fun in June it was pretty harsh. Our October trip was the BEST weather in our 5 trips thus far and we had the most fun and didn't notice the decreased hours!! Good luck!
