We are looking to head to DisneyLand for the first time ever July 17-24. I've heard that the anniversary is on July 17. Is that just a one day event. Read that crowds are bad leading up to it and day of, but not bad afterwards.
Any other advice for those dates, or trip reports from others who have went in July. Hot/crowded? Manageable? Any advice would be appreciated.

Considering the recent AP holder impact on crowds, I really don't think it's going to be bad.

As far as I have seen, there has been nothing posted about the 17th, events, etc. I guess you will see.

I would not worry about July 17. Is there a bump in crowds that day? Maybe. Probably. Is it worth planning around? Not even close IMO. Just go and don't think about it anymore. :)

We were there July 16-20 last year and crowds were very manageable. I didn't notice any higher crowds on the 17th at all. Just get to the parks early, drink TONS of water, use FP wisely and you'll be just fine. I used to think I would never go to DLR in the summer - but after last summer with DH I would definitely consider another summer trip.

I agree with everyone else...we were there last July for a that same week and we had no problems with the crowds. Just use your FP wisely and you'll be great. It was a little hot so we had taken spray bottles in for the kids to play with and they worked great keeping the kids cooled off and entertained.

I've been in the summer a few times when I was younger. It was always hot and the indoor rides (small world, pirates...) always had long lines because everyone was trying to get out of the heat.

Whether or not one enjoys summer visits depends a lot on how they tour IMO. Those who stay out all day in the heat and long lines tend to have bad experiences. Those who take 3-5 hour hotel breaks for a swim and nap tend to have much better experiences.
