Being from Alaska, I would NEVER plan a trip to WDW in July, but it's been forever since I've been to California in the summer so I'm unsure about the summer weather! I'm thinking of a surprise trip the 3rd week of July for my DD's birthday. Weather.com says the average high is 87, but is it dry hot, humid hot, or a mix? I don't remember the humidity being terrible but like I said, it's been a looooonng time, and I've never actually been to Anaheim.

So. I guess I'm wondering what you guys/gals think? Are the parks insane and sweltering? I don't mind crowds but if the weather would make lines misery, I'll adjust my plans! What do you think? Thanks a bunch!

I don't think the humidity is very bad. Of course, I live in Vegas, so temps in the 80's in the summer are heavenly! We went to DL in early August and it wasn't bad at all. Temps in the high 70's to low 80's. What we found was that there was only a small period of time in the afternoon where it really got hot...like around 3-5. We needed jackets in the morning and in the evenings. Just wasn't bad at all.

Humidity is not an issue at DLR. IMO the summer heat at DLR is rarely "insane". Most often is nearer to "heaven". And I think the weather.com number may be too high. This post has July at 85.

IMO morning temps of 65-70 and daytime highs of mid to low 80's is as close to perfect as you can get. Even so, it is easy to work around this if you plan it right. See

The weather in July is totally manageable. This coming from someone that does NOT like to be hot! :rotfl: The weather does not seem humid to me at all. The advice I would give is to prepare for the heat. We always bring MistyMates, others like the hand-held fans. We use those for afternoons, then go back to the hotel mid-afternoon for a cool down or nap.We return as the sun is going down. It works out great for us. I must say that there is nothing like a summer night at Disneyland-Pure Bliss! If you go during July I don't think the weather will bother you much. Have fun!

I've been in July the past several years and have encounterd a wide variety of weather from rain to record setting heat (over 100) and cool days where we needed a hoodie for much of the day. It's summer, so expect hot and crowded, but it *is* manageable. I would never do WDW in the summer, but DL, yes.

I've been there when it was hot in July but there are ways to cope. Take a break mid day at your hotel or their pool. See things like Mr Lincoln, the main street cinema, animation in DCA, etc. I'm sure others could suggest cool strategies.

Most of the time it will be like everyone has said. But sometimes we have a heat wave where it will be 100+. I can't really say when or if a heat wave will hit, we've had them in May and October and every month in between. I can do 90s but 100 is too much for me. The last few years we have had very mellow weather both summer and winter, Sunday it was in the 90s in the parks.

Thanks for the info! My DD would be happy if we spent our whole trip in the pool, so I'm thinking that if it gets too hot that's what we will do!

We visited Disneyland last July, and the temps were in the 70's most of the time. It was just delightful! I was not hot, not even once. For a couple of days we wore jeans instead of shorts and needed sweaters!

We were there last year in July. Sea World seemed really hot to us, but Disneyland seemed pleasant. It was nothing like when we went to Disneyworld in June one year.... :)

Last year was not typical. It was nice, but very strange weather.

I took my kids and parents in July 2010, it never got above the low 80s, and we had to buy hoodies the first evening because we were cold. I'm sure thats not necessarily the norm, but we loved it.

As stated before, the weather was very atypical from what we normally experience in August, but coming from a place that gets warm, we do love the heat.

2009 and 2010 were very mild summers for us here. 2011 wasn't bad either, but it was just a tad warmer than the previous years. However, current weather discussions are suggesting a higher than normal summer this year for Southern California with the anamolies we are seeing.

Of course, this all could turn around if the models that are pointing to a wet March/April hold up.
