I've read many horror stories about the terrible heat in July. Now, I don't mind the heat that much, but having some people in my family that do mind it, how can it be handled? I know that afternoon is like the peak of the heat, so is a trip to the pool needed? Also, in the late afternoon and at night, does the temp. drop from what it was during the day? Any info would be great, thanks!

P.S. We're going in mid-July.

We go every year in July. It is hot but definately not unbearable. We stay on-site at the Boardwalk and will stay in the parks in the morning, head back around lunchtime and hang at the pool then head out again around 4-4:30 for the night. We always enjoy it and have found that this schedule works great for us.

...since we're making our first July trip this year.

Some people who have posted here say it can actually be COOLER in Orlando in July than in some other parts of the country!

Having survived my share of summers in both New York City and Washington, DC, I believe it.

But I'm still gonna try to stick close to the A.C.!

The spray fans with water work well.

It seems that the past 3 years it has been much hotter in Jersey where we live than in Florida. We use the spray fans, drink lots of water and swim and do just fine!

The heat itself isn't much different than anywhere else in July, but the humidity, now that is a different story. Have you tried to breath in warm water before? That can take some getting used to.:D

We were there for a couple days last July, and it was hotter in MA than in FL. I actually couldnt wait to get down there to cool off. When we called family at home and told them how it was so beautiful, all they did was complain that it was horrible at home. :D
So yep, we found it very bearable.

Glad to hear that Camcolt:D We're taking our first July trip thid year:bounce: :bounce:

Kteacher, do you remember how bad last July 3 & 4 were up here? We flew down on the 3rd, spent the day at WDW, then went on a cruise on the 4th. When I was drying my hair before leaving at 3:00am my house was already 90 degrees and my makeup was literally melting off. The Florida "heat" was a nice relief.

Our first trip to WDW was in July. It was HOT!! But, if you are expecting that--you can bear it. I would suggest: mister fans, cool cotton clothes, Cool Max socks(these are great); washclothes for face; lots and lots of water bottles or small thermos of ice to melt throughout the day and lots of sun screen(sport/waterproof).

We always went to the park early, as early as they opened and by afternoon went back to the resort for a break--sometimes a swim, sometimes a snack and rest on the bed, usually a shower for everyone or sometimes a meal in a/c. Then, we were ready to head back and do it again in the evening! You absolutely cannot go without taking a break. You will tire out too quickly and things will get ugly--especially if some members of the family don't do well with heat. Plan to do shows or a snack break in the a/c in the middle of the day--just sitting through a short show in the a/c gets everyone rested up and ready again.

The temp. does go down with the sun--not a lot, but enough to notice the difference. We packed jeans and sweatshirts, but didn't wear them once.

ENJOY!!!! Even in the heat of July, our first trip to WDW made us lifelong lovers of Disney!

It pays to remember that all of the indoor shows and attractions have great AC! The only time we have ever felt the heat was unbearable was one August when we were watching an outside show in WS at EPCOT. It was great, "The Best of Riverdance", but we would have had a difficult time sitting through it if not for those mister-fans!!! Some parks also have more shade than others which makes a big difference. Rumor has it that they are planning to get rid of a lot of that concrete at EPCOT. I hope that one is right!

We usually go late June or early July. This year we are going earlier in June. But we have found that the heat is bearable in July. Like everyone else said go early to the parks and leave to rest or swim in the afternoon. Also we usually eat at a table service restaurant for lunch around 12:30 or 1:00, because we are usually ready to take a break to just rest and cool off. We then go back to our resort for a swim or rest. In the evening when it is cooler, we do fast food (table service restaurants take more time), which leaves more time to tour the parks. Of course, when we visit the water parks, we do table service in the evenings.

Camcolt I remember last 4th of July- I marched with my DD's GS troop in a parade:eek: We kept spraying the kids with water the whole time. We flew down to Puerto Rico last July, and it was actually cooler there than up here in Ma.!!!

This is a great question for me to answer. I have multiple sclerosis, and heat is notorious for bringing on nasty MS symptoms. We've been going in summer for the past several trips, including mid-July. Here's how I handle it. We do EE - it's not AS bad early. We stay in the park until about 11:00, then leave to do lunch in a nice, air conditioned restaurant. We take our time eating. Then we go back to the hotel and swim - or head for a waterpark. We go back to the hotel, get changed, head back to the parks later.

We make frequent rest stops, not just for me, but it's good for everyone. We carry a Mistymate and ice water. Drink plenty of water - even if you're not thirsty. And relax, alot of WDW's attractions are in air conditioned buildings - and if you can't take it, slip into a shop and browse. It's a good way to drink in all that WDW has to offer - frequent breaks are the key to an enjoyable vacation.:D

It is 89 degrees here in Miami...I can just imagine what it is in Orlando! If I were to go in July, I would dress in as little clothes as possible, but presentable, wear LOTS of Sunscreen, a Hat, and have a Frozen Bottle of water with me!;) I would Also take a break from about 12 noon till about 4:00pm!;)
