Hello all,

This is our first Summer trip to WDW/. We usually go in May, but now that DDis in school, this is not possible anymore. Should we expect rain everyday? Extreme Humidity? How about Crowds compared to May??
Thanks for all your info. :sunny:

The closer you get to the end of August, the better off you'll be in terms of crowds. From about Aug 17th on, the crowds really thin out.

The weather, well....can you say hot, with lots of humidity?

Just about every afternoon you get the traditional thunderstorm, which usually blows over in about a half hour, but last August (2003) they lasted several hours.

about the heat... well let me put it this way.. we went one year in august and vowed we would never go back then because it was soooo hot.. well, guess when we're going this year? yup.. end of august..

my husband said it like this.. " it's kinda like having a baby.. when you're there it's brutal, but once you get home, you forget how bad it was" hahahaha

Sounds like it will be HOT!!
That's OK, I'll bet the Beers around the World at W.S. will help take the edge off.

the beers around the world definitely help!!!! especially mexico.. grab a cerveza and walk around inside to cool off.. very nice...

oh yeah....we go every july and it's hotter than hades....
but it's the humidity that's gonna kill you...
it's a funny thing really.....on the tv weather in orlando, they never mention the humidity level.....it's as if they believe that if they don't tell you how humid it is, you won't notice....right....
you'll notice the buckets of water flowing down your body....and that's before the rain begins...which they'll be plenty of....
but the truth is, you'll be so wet from the humidity, you won't even notice the rain..

We, too, can only go in the summer. It is HOT and HUMID!!! Rain every afternoon but it passes. Our routine is up and out early in the morning and return to our resort by lunchtime for pool time and afternoon rest in a/c and then out again at dinner time and into the evening.

We go in the summer too. My best piece of advice is to take extra pairs of sneakers, as yours will not dry out over night if you are caught in the rain-just too much humidity.

These are all great ideas. Thanks very much!! Bring on the Heat and rain!!:earseek:

Don't worry too much about the rain. Last July we experienced one thunderstorm in 11 days and we were inside Rock 'N' Roller Coaster. The rain patterns are so localized sometimes that it can pouring in the MGM, but not in MK.

Even if it does rain more than that, the storm usually lasts for about 30-45 minutes (the daily 3:00 storm). So much of WDW is inside, you'll hardly notice. It will be hot, though, but again, with so much air conditioning, you'll have plenty of places to cool off.

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: Hot Hot Hot Humid Humid Humid
Sorry but its the truth.
Have lived here my whole life.
And it is very hot. Invest in those water spray fan things at Walmart before you go if you can find them.
If not they sell them in the parks for an arm or leg. LOL

July:tongue:

Oh my goodness, you sound just like me. I said the same thing last year, "never again" because of the heat!

And here we are going in August yet again! My boys are in middle school now, and they miss too much if we take them out of school for a week, the never really seem to catch up.

So August it is. ::yes::

At least we have our ponchos from last year that we bought in the Puffin's Roost in Norway where we got stranded in a really bad thunderstorm. We waited a hour for the rain to let up...and it never did! So we invested in the ponchos and went back to the Dolphin!

take it from a native south floridian- its hot, hot, hot & humid! we do have the afternoon thunderstorms and since its in the center of the state- not alot of breeze coming off the ocean. I havent been in years during the summer but from what I remember- its busy. Of course I talked dh into taking the kids up for the 4th of July since we are both off and he thinks Im crazy! :sunny: Im sure we will do like others and go in the am- ride what we can- head back to the resort for nap and pool time- than head back out at night. Im going totry and find those fans that spray water and bring lots of sunblock, hats, our mickey ponchos, extra shoes and clothing!

6" of rain in both July and August is a pretty high average. You will get rained on and it will be hot :sunny:. If you're ready for both, go for it... it's Disney!!!!
