July/August Code Watch

We are looking to return the week of Aug 13 - 20 again this year. Just a quick memory jog, we had a great time that week last year, BUT we came in on the Saturday after Hurricane Charley had blown through Orlando on the previous night. A sad time for so many of the local folks. It felt kind of weird that we were having such a great time while so many nearby were suffering. Let's hope that this late summer/fall seasons that Mother Nature takes it a bit easier on the entire southeast. We are hoping to get AP rates at POFQ again.

When I logged into yahoo the other day, it had a pop up at the Cinderellabration (or whatever it is) and it said to watch for more info on May 5...AND that's the same day codes came out last year Hmmmmm! Very Interesting.

May 5 is the official kickoff date for the 50th Cellebration at all the parks. IT is going to be a huge press day for Disney. I doubt any codes would come out that day. But who knows? I've been wrong before!

All of Florida is hoping your wish for a kinder Mother Nature this summer is correct, but sadly that is not the prediction.

i'm new to the forum and was wondering if someone can please explain to me what PIN codes are and how you get them. i often hear of people receiving room rate discounts but don't know how they get them. thanks for any info.

The PIN codes are numerical or letter codes that are unique to one family. Normally these are sent (as solicitations) through the mail on a postcard or sometimes to your Email address. What happens sometimes is that the cards get lost, or the Email gets swallowed by your computer's junkmail filter, so some people call the reservations line and ask the CM to check if they have a code "attached to" their name. Evidently there will be a note the CM can see on their computer with your info, if Mickey TRIED to send you a solicitation. These codes are good for certain prices and certain dates, usually the time frame that is appreoaching in a few months. Some folks have had luck asking about these codes, and others get cranky CM's who feel they are too busy (or perhaps too clueless) to search.

The wisdom here seems to be "It never hurts to ask!"

Waiting for August 3-8 and praying to God we get one...my husband brought up the word "offsite" and said that's where we'd be if we didn't have a code.

You let your husband talk to you like that?!?!?! If my wife ever said "offsite" to me, I'd let her have it - in a postcard that she would receive while I was staying on property without her!
Just kidding -trying to make the AP rate wait go faster!

We took a AAA discount because we took room only then I bought my tickets seperate with a slight discount..Was just wondering who is entitled to the discounts? We are staying at WL for two nights then it's on to the gulf for a week of beach and sunshine...

Many of us are waiting for AP or FL resident codes. There may be people waiting for general codes (codes the general public can use) too. There were not general codes for May or June though.

I am a DVC member and saving my points for a family blowout in May '06.
That said......

Am planning a solo trip in September for 4 nights (Fri-Tues).
I bought my 1st AP (with my DVC discount).

I have also been waiting for the codes to come out, assuming maybe I could stay @ the Poly, GF,CR..etc,...but...

I checked the rent/trade boards here on the DIS...
I can get a "studio" (frig,sink,coffee pot,microwave,lr,table/chair,balcony)...say @ the BWV or BCV for $10. per point, need 68 points ($680)..which is $170. nightly!!

That's $170. nightly (no 11.5% resort tax or hidden hotel charges)!!!
I don't find that extravagant for the accomodations provided.
I did check the "rack rate" for all the Deluxe and DVC resorts and they are certainly pricey!!

So...How "GOOD" are the AP codes..if/when they come out??

So why am I waiting for these codes???

Am I missing something???

Hello this is my first time on this site and very confused about GP rates at Disney hotels. I saw something that is posted for May/June rates, but how do I go about getting the discount from Disney. Right now I have a room booked with a AAA discount but know I can change rate thru reservations. Any helpful info would help me out.

Right now the only discounts available until July 4th are Annual Passholder, Fl residents, and AAA. There weren't any GP (general public) discounts released for this time period, and there may not be any GP codes for July / August either. Pixie dust everyone! I feel that we are getting close! The beginning of May is just around the corner. Hoping to switch to 2 rooms at the WL with a great AP rate for our trip in July.

$129.00 last year for a woods view at WL..I think the Standard was $119.

Can you share...what a "great" AP rate is??

Last year we stayed at the WL standard room for $114.00 per night and BC standard for $199 (I beleive). At the WL lodge we ere upgraded to a courtyard view so we got even more bang for our buck!!
