Hi!!! I have a few questions for anyone who is familiar with travelling in July/August. We are specifically thinking 14 nights at the beginning of the school summer holidays (starting 21st July next year).

How are the crowds? How hot and humid is it?

Also, does anyone have any idea how much flights for this time would be? Obviously they are not out yet, but we would be planning to book quiet soon. Does anyone have a price of the flights this year for that time?

Thank You for you help!!!

Hi

We always go at this time of year - we're booked for 28th July next year - but I don't have a lot of choice as I teach!

It is really hot at this time of year and the crowds are pretty mad - we found the last two weeks of August to be quieter, as the american kids are back at school. With it being so humid, there are usually lots of storms, but they pass really quickly and the rain dries up in minutes in the heat.

We have only been at this time of year, so nothing to compare it to - most people say don't go during this time but we have always had an amazing time and if you know its going to be really hot/humid/extra busy, then you can plan for it.

Sorry - forgot to add that during July/August you can guarantee that there will be nightly fireworks/parades (often two per night) and that major refurbs rarely occur (someone will no doubt correct me here) but the parks seem to gear up to operating at full pelt during these months, and during Easter/Christmas periods - whereas at other times you tend to have some disruption or things get cancelled/shut down for repair.

Ive been twice at this time of year, basically its not prefered option(i just got some really cheap deals!!) Expect the heat and humidity, alot of people cant cope with this, I didnt find it a problem. The queues are the worst ive ever experienced(apart from easter), and its always easier to book ADR's for this time of the year especially as lots of people now take advantage of the dining plan. The parades and fireworks are nightly, and the park opening hours are great at this time of the year.
The down side really is the RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!, i was always told it always rain at 3.00 everyday a short hard shower, well the times ive been its bucketed down for a few hours, and that the rest of the time it rained everyday for more than 30 minutes!!.

Like you 2007 i have to work round our sons GCSE, so we are tied to july/august time. The only thing that is putting me off booking today if i could is the rain. I know wear a ponch and all that, but in that heat forget it!!!!!!!. I have to disagree if people say make the most of it, wear a poncho and do the british thing, personally I hate walking round in the rain, wet and hot.
you can book 11 months in advance if you book a flydrive so you should be able to book within the next few days, depending on what your return date is.

We went this year on July 22nd for 2 weeks - we are also tied to this time of year because I teach. It was our 1st time, so I have nothing to compaqre it too.

I found it OK on the whole. Yes, it was busy, but didn't seem ridiculously busy. It was very humid, but the quick burst of rain in the afternoon cleared this. The two days we had no rain, it wasn't humid, just very hot and sunny, and I actually found the strong sunshine more difficult to cope with than the humidity. :confused3 Everything was open, I was able to get all ADRs I wanted, WDW Transportation was full but we still always got on the first bus. :thumbsup2

As previously mentioned, as long as you prepare yourself for the fact that it will be humidand it will be busy, then youshould be fine. I personally am booking for late August next year though, because people say it is that little bit quieter.

Whatever you decide, enjoy! :goodvibes

We have been the last two years at the same time 15/16th July for two weeks. The weather was gloriously hot and humid and we loved it. We only saw rain a couple of times each in both holidays - and it didn't last long. We have booked to go back next August with no reservations.

It is busy but if you are prepared to get up early and get to the parks before opening you won't have any problems. We did this every day and snaked round all the rides some a few times each, before the crowds started to come in full force at about 11 am. If you leave it late you will hit the long lines but get in early it just isn't a problem. We tended to hit all the rides first, then go to the shows afterwards leaving the park for a cool down in the hotel pool before going to another park for the evening.

Hi!
I paid £650 when I booked in advance and £480 when I booked 7 days before flight.

If there was any chance you could go near end of August? It is less humid and less crowded. If not,Im sure youll still have a great time.

Try www.thomson.co.uk for flights

I'm having the same dilema at the moment. As DD is starting senior school this sept we're thinking of going next aug, we've been previously in september with decent weather (ok so there were hurricanes but it was fine!) and virtually no queues on any rides.

Pricing up flights they're over 2,000. Been checking them over the last month and they ranged between 900 and 1400. I'm so tempted to book room thru dreams unlimited and wait til late for flights - just don't know if I can hold out til July before booking!

For the past 3 years, we have always gone in July /August (this year we flew out on 20/7), due to DH's holidays.

Yes, it does rain, but not enough to spoil anything. In fact this year, we only got caught in 2 showers, as other times when it rained, we were inside, or having our meal.

The crowds aren't too bad, providing you get there early and make good use of Fastpass. With regard to US we stayed in one of their hotels overnight and made use of the FOTL pass we got with our room key.

We are already looking at next year for July/August, altho' possibly going a week earlier (as DS will have finished his GCSE's by mid-June), and hopefully going for 3 weeks with some friends.
